QUOTE (Chris B @ Aug 7 2008, 12:23 AM)
I thought Wednesday's episode was damn near Emmy worthy! The show shouldn't be compelling considering this involved Sabrina and David, but somehow I'm hooked and can't turn away.

Thats because this is not about sabrina nor date. This is about Victor. Nikki. Victor & Nikki. Jill. Adam. Victoria. Nick. Phyliss. Jack. Sharon. Heather. Paul. etc... This is how it sould be done, IMHO.

newbies are not the problem on soaps - its the newbies beign the center and them not being a part of a char we already know and love. had they slowly brought Sabrina on as Victoria BFF and had her and Victor start to feel fpor eachother and Viki see it and be like 'bitch, please' and then victor and sabrina just do it behind her back and if she being there was about some romance for victor, some conflict for victor and victoria it would have worked. but it wasnt. she was pointless. as was david. now that they are dead they are driving story and char's. i love it.

but then again both chars sucked and didnt work. some char';s really are just better off dead. lol.

Watched Wednesday's episode. Another 'back of the net' effort.

This definitely feels like Y&R, at least from a production and 'essence' standpoint. I think this has been said, but if there was an Emmy for 'Most Improved Soap', there would only be one candidate. On current form, Y&R is really good TV.

Speaking of Emmys, unless the other soaps seriously step it up as well (and it's very possible) or the judges really have it in for Y&R, them there is some material they could use.

And it's good to see the posters here simply losing themselves in the show rather than watching from a distance, waiting for the wheels to come off.

The preview for Thursday look good as well. I don't think we've EVER seen Adam raise his voice, let alone do what we saw. Bring it on!

Adam has always a been a great character. Ever since he started messing with Phyllis, I knew there was something I'd like about him. He isn't a little good boy, and that's what we need... Go Adam!

IA the montage at the end of yesterday's show was spellbinding. Beautifully done. GL should take a lesson from Y&R on how to put together these things.

On to Adam v. Nick. This is a very good, organic story that should be wonderful to watch. CE and JM have had great rivalry chemistry since the day Adam showed up and the latest events only add fuel to the fire. I actually believe that they're brothers and are pissed at each other. This is the kind of stuff old school Y&R excelled at - family drama, rooted in the characters and their relationships.

ICAM dmarex, I liked Adam since the day he started and really like the fact that he is more VICTOR JR than Hope.

There is some tension between Adam/Victoria, but I think they could form some sort of truce as the other posters have said. When she was behind him when he was looking at the picture of Skye, there was some tenderness on her part, IMO.

Can't wait for today's show. This show is on fire. I'm Lovin' it.

I think one major improvement is the internal conflict and/or insecurity each character is experiencing. They were all incredibly shallow up until these deaths. Having K confronting her mortality in that chapel, pissed at God for taking the young while she remains. It's such a little scene that really isn't pushing any of the storylines and could've easily been thrown out. But it adds so much to the show and, again, is an example of how the writers are beginning to write people with real emotions again.

Another small example is Daniel's inability to forgive Amber. Well done. Just a slight bit more angst, but otherwise, a lot more realistic than before.

Why the heck did Joshua get a haircut so similar to Adam's? It's really creepy how similar they look now. And it's really as if the writers asked Joshua to do that because it foreshadows how he might want to go back to Newman and fight for that CEO position.

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE TWO NEWMAN BOYS DUKE IT OUT TODAY!!!!!

Also, appreciating Karen fighting against Tyra. But both these women are lightweights. I'd like it very much if one had more of a backbone. Maybe Karen's jealousy will craft a sturdy one for her.

Ana is not as adorable as Cassie because she's written without any confusion or problems or turmoil. Create a heartbreaking situation for her already, jeez.

Honestly, Every time I get ready to watch Y&R and OLTL on my weekday evenings, I can't bring myself to watch OLTL because Y&R always leaves me so distraught. I would watch OLTL first but those Y&R previews always leave me wanting more immediately LOL.

Man Eric Braiden is doing such a great job. I have really enjoyed Y & R the last couple of weeks. I'm also looking forward to seeing Adam and Nick go at it. I also have to admit that Paul and Niki are interesting to me. My only disappointment is that I remain one of the four people who watch the show that really do want Nick and Sharon back

Ok. Adam is really starting to get on my nerves, which means I'm not only in Nick's corner........I hope he kicks that snot-nosed little punk's ass.

Nikki dumping David's ashes into the horseshit......priceless.

And Victor.....out for revenge. Even though I know he's hurting, he did a disservice to some of Sabrina's friends by having the funeral and burial all by himself.

Y&R is starting to turn a corner.......it's finally getting its heart back.

Too bad that Victor didn't take Ana on his bus trip with him. I am sure he would be thrilled to have her sing all the time.

I am so happy that Nikki is out of the ashes.. :)

Who would have thought? I like Karen, who was the most boring and useless character EVER on a soap.

More Ana please! I'd love a Lily-Cane-Ana triangle..

Team Adam here. The Newman siblings are the snots -- either boohooing about daddy shutting them out (of the will? Of the ranch?) or bitching about Jack Abbott.

Adam, meanwhile, had to deal with Phyllis disdainful "You did? Who?" when he talked about losing Skye. Nice. <_< I hope he kicks Nick's three-whiskered ass tomorrow. For the first time ever, Pipsqueak just got hot.

Victor's wearing the Black T-Shirt of Doom and the dad-jeans? That means bizness!

I was kinda cringing and misty-eyed at the same time when Kay had her "talk" with God. She was *this close* to railing her fist and spouting "Damn you!" but I sorta loved the inherent soapiness of it all as well.

Victoria: Well, if she's not returning, then I'm not returning, either.

Jill: (Pause) Suit yourself.

Darn if you aren't right.

Then, he wants to play the forgive game and wants everyone to just overlook the things he said and did. I will be really surprised if Nick and Victoria do not once again push him to the curb for this behavior.

But, it is a Victor move.

But, feel this, Cat. I'm just now watching this for a week for the first time in two years. I don't know what led up to the stuff between the two, so I'm flying kinda blind. :)

In two days?!

TGVN works his magic.

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.

    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
