Love these. on AMC Mama Crpenter was Myrtle, right? Hired by Phoebe? ANd of course Ty was DOnna's pimp played by a well known Sesame Street actor. Are these from SODigest? Isn't it funny that more seemed to happen in a month back then when the shows were only 30 mins? (mostly)

Yes Eric, Mama Carpenter is Myrtle Lum (by the time, she had not married Nigel Fargate, he will first appear in September 1976 : I will try to post it tonight). Roscoe Orman was playing Tyrone, the pimp.

The recaps are from old newspaper. I've just purchased a membership at newspaperarchive.com and I've found it. I think there are recaps until the 1980s' so I will do my best to post a month of recaps from time to time. I have forgotten to mention that the month posted was from August 1976 :)

OK, sigh. This makes me want to watch 1976 Love of Life, GH, Y&R and Another World.

The GH synopsis really shows the influence of Gloria Monty as she starts to take the show -- slowly, gradually -- from the bottom to the top of the ratings heap.

Thank you, FrenchFan. You are a treasure!

We all know where that went :-). See Sara Bibel for how the lesbian evolution almost killed the show :-)

Jack=Anthony Herrera. Scumbag.

Poor emotionally battered Nancy. Was her catatonic state BEFORE or AFTER this rape trial? I remember that rape was one of the most brutal things I had seen to that point.

I cannot remember Ralph for anything! Of course, Kay eventually got Derek drunk and tricked him into marriage...a marriage he remained committed to because if it lasted for a year, Kay was going to make young Phillip III her rightful heir...as he should have been. Derek stayed in the marriage FOR Jill, but of course Jill never understood that.

That Lucas reveal! What a great story. Back then, the writers set up story beats YEARS in advance. Tom Ligon's rough-hewed sailor eventually helped to create the big four-part quadrangle (Lance, Leslie, Lucas, Lorie). Brad Elliot (Leslie's husband, divorcing her because he was going blind and did not wish to burden her) was soon forgotten.

Lorie vs. Vanessa...one of the great rivalries of all time. I loved it when terminally ill Vanessa eventually took a swan dive off Lorie's balcony....she was going to die anyway, but she wanted Lorie blamed for the murder. Vanessa pretended to make amends, and invited Lorie onto the balcony. Then, on the balcony she started to scream 'leave me alone...get your hands off of me'. Vanessa's son Lance DID NOT stand by Lorie....but Victor Newman did! And that marked the start of a beautiful friendship :).

I'm forgetting here. Did Ron ever see justice? (He must have, in a Bell universe). But I can't remember...when did Nancy go nuts? If Ron was in jail, who got their daughter? I seem to remember a family reunion at the end...but these details are hazy.

    • The June 5th scene of Cat reacting to a photo of Sami -- wasn't spoiled in advance. No idea what that was about. Today's Cat/Shane scene was not spoiled in advance. We knew only that Cat would be at the funeral due to spoiler pics, but nothing further, and there was no Cat/Shane spoiler photo, or any spoiler indicating they knew each other.
    • The show did a good job of having today feel like a funeral atmospherically. I'm happy they're making sure to state that Tate and Arianna consider each other family as the last thing we need is another Alex situation. However, it's very strange she has yet to have a scene with Will. Today is just part one, of course, so hopefully that on-screen reunion is yet to come. I also really want to see Carrie/Will/Arianna with Kate as well and hope Kate gets a little moment of her own regarding John. I forget if I mentioned this before, but real life affecting reel life when it comes to Maggie not being involved is just a crying shame. I'll never get over it. I wasn't bothered by the little hint of intrigue with Cat and Shane. Being spoiler free, I had no idea that little moment was going to happen or what that could be about. Was Shane the one calling her before? (Hypothetically asking, don't spoil me). I hope Steve shutting down BlackPatch sticks. I can't imagine what they will do with him though. Alice Halsey again proving why Rachel was recast. She's just effortless. Bring on seeing Tony again! He had the cut last week, too. Did he hit his head in the scene where he first got sick with the flu or was it a real life instance that they haven't talked about. Glad I'm not crazy thinking I missed something.

    •     I don't think Neil Wade died in an automobile accident. I think he died of an embolism. Unless he was driving at the time and it caused him to crash. Jeff was the only husband she had who died in a car accident.

      The 50s and 60s are over. Storytelling won't go back to that type. The 80s and 90s are over. Storytelling won't go back to that type.   I understand the nostalgia and enjoying a certain type of storytelling that was popular when growing up/being 20, 30 yrs old. That's why I watch TV series from the 70s and 80s and not as much current television. But I understand that people's attention spans have changed and therefore storytelling has changed and everything has gotten more expensive and there are more and more projects competing for eyeballs and the big flashy stuff is what makes people look up from their phones 5 seconds before going back to them.  We can never go back to before.

      date: Monday, June 9 | Teresa Zimmerman, Lynn Martin | Steven Williford YAY! Caroline is back in action at the law offices. I adore Caroline! She is a woman of business, and she handles her business quite well. Could this be the chance for Tomas to move ahead at Bill Hamilton Esq.? Madison is doing the usual tests for strokes: smiling, holding out the hands, etc., but I do wonder if she'll have him touch the tip of her finger and then the tip of his nose. That one is not easy at all. Trust me, I know! It's about time Derek becomes useful: helping to take down Dana by witnessing her interrogation of Ashley at Orphey Gene's. Oh, Nicole is showing up to question Eva, re: her interactions with Laura. This will either be a bitchfest or it'll be a heartfelt one. Cantankerous? Yes, Ashley! Call it like you see it! Is Tomas working with Katherine to set up Dana? I pray he is!! Child bride needs to calm her ass down; now she's hugging Naomi as if they're besties again? This isn't your "get out of jail" card, sweetheart. The weight that I am sure is now lifted from Eva's shoulders with Nicole accepting her apology? I love that for her. And I am sure, deep down, it helps Nicole to accept and hear it, as well. Dani showing up for Bill and their children? That's love right there, and you can tell how much it not only means for Bill but might also be reminding him of why he fell in love with her. Watch out, child bride; your time might be up by mid-summer! Katherine, you are sneaky... but I do have this sneaking suspicion this is going to blow up right back into your face before you know it. The awkward face-to-face with Chelsea and Madison. Dani introducing herself as "the first wife" is hilarious. I love it. Chelsea and Madison openly flirting in the hospital by the elevator is super cute!! Notes: Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) continues to serve up the right amount of camp for American daytime. She's almost too good for daytime. I appreciate the new viewpoint of the outside of Dana's apartment. Nice that we can get these viewpoints that other soaps wouldn't dare to explore. Tide is seen in the scene; Tide commercials air right after. Today's jacket on Alex Alegria (Tomas) fits better than the past few he's worn. Hoping this trend continues.
