Chance seducing Janet is something happening in May-July 1978 (I have only a few recaps from this time for the moment).

It is curious that Slesar made double-duty for SFT. I mean, for Somerset I can understand because it was aired on NBC too. But SFT was still a CBS daytime show in 1978. That's weird. I can't see this happening now.

ALL MY CHILDREN

Linc convinced Kitty to remarry. Drunken Phoebe and Little Phil were in an accident. Donna found a legitimate job. Christina and Jeff had a reunion. She was warned by "her ghost" to tell Jeff "what really happened" when she changed from surgery to pediatrics.

Mona confirmed Phoebe's revelation to Kitty about Mrs. Lum. Christina concluded that Beth would never advance beyond her present stage. Ann believed a psychic's horoscope about Beth and made love to Paul for the first time since the baby's birth. Brooke fumed that Benny made a play for Donna. Little Phil recovered.

Donna dated Benny, who is now Phoebe's chauffeur, while Carolyn admitted she loves Frank. Christina's "ghost" followed her when she moved into Jeff's old apartment. While Linc tried to locate Mrs. Lum, Kitty had eyesight problems, which Joe diagnosed as hysterical blindness. Ann insisted she'd never allow Beth to be institutionalized. Nick warned Tara not to allow Little Phil to live with alcoholic Phoebe.

After being released from the hospital, Little Phil insisted on moving an with Chuck, rather than Phil and Tara. Phoebe reneged on her agreement to divorce Charles. Anne dismissed Christina as Beth's pediatrician.

ANOTHER WORLD

Sharlene grew frantic that she can't bear a child because of a quack doctor's treatment during her bad-girl days. Russ went into a drunken rage when he learned she wasn't pregnant and she packed her bags, headed for home. Jeff made a pitch for Clarice, after inquiring about her financial position. Alice offered Michael a job and a new home with his wife, but Molly rejected the move. Jaime and Pat were suspicious that Dave is dating Rachel. Ada told Ken to lay off Rachel. Olive convinced Marianne to be friends with Molly in order to split the newlyweds.

Dave left for a vacation after Pat accused him of using Rachel. Brian Bancroft became the Cory Company lawyer after Keith's departure. Iris manipulated a date between Gwen and Mac. Rachel assumed Mac was seeing his girlfriend again, and Mac moved out of Iris' house. Olive discovered Jeff's plans to trap Clarice into marriage. Ada encouraged Gil to go to Bolivia to search for Tim. Willis, reconciled with Alice, attempted to straighten out a drunken Russ.

Ken left town and Mac courted Rachel, while Gwen admitted to Iris she's given up on Mac and is concentrating on Brian. Willis convinced Sharlene to return to Bay City. She learned she can get pregnant. Russ is staying with Aunt Liz, who's been telling him to get a divorce. Ray returned after leaving Beatrice to take care of Olive's sons in California and learned that Jeff is being blackmailed by Olive to pressure Pat into divorcing John.

Jeff turned the tables on Olive by telling John about her schemes. Olive agreed to divorce Ray, but John and Marianne tried to dissuade Olive from leaving town. Iris failed to stymie Gwen and Brian's romance.

AS THE WORLD TURNS

Val accused Kim of intentionally ruining Val's life for the second time. Dan resolved to chastise Susan for putting the idea in Val's head. Natalie told Jay he's better warm up to her because Tom and Carol are getting close again. Carol told Dick to start the divorce proceedings. John admitted to Mary that he fears Dan will turn Andrew against John. Dee put Annie in an awkward situation by forcing Annie to date Beau when Dee became ill. Annie, guilty about her feelings for Beau, said she wanted to switch to an out-of-town school.

Susan hit the bottle again and told Kim that John knew the "tape story" all along. Bob tried to convince Val that the culprit was Susan, not Kim. Dee thought she was to blame for Annie's decision to change schools. Val decided to stay in town.
After Beau told Annie to tell Dee about their relationship, Annie and Jay were hospitalized when a construction site scaffolding collapsed. Carol rushed to Jay's side and he refused to see Natalie. Kim told Lisa why she and Jason had bribed Cliff, Val's old beau, to leave Val—Cliff had been on the make for Kim. Kim told John to stay out of her life and that he could only see Andrew by appointment.

Dee overheard Beau telling Annie he loved her before Annie regained consciousness. John told Pat about his plan to kidnap Andrew. Carol postponed the divorce until Jay is completely recovered. Bob wined and dined Valerie and put in a kind word for Kim.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES

A janitor in Trish's apartment building was suspected of being the obscene note writer. But a drunken Jack burst into Trish's apartment, and at knifepoint began to assault her sexually. She hit him with an iron, just as Mike arrived. Marlene and Don found a scrapbook of Jack's which included photos of Trish with the notation, "hooker like her mother." Linda and Bob grew closer. Bog agreed to find Brooke a better job.

Mike took the blame for Jack's death. Trish went into a coma. The DA filed murder charges against Mike after they learned there wasn't any evidence of rape. Linda offered Mike sympathy and a sofa bed. Jeri refused to believe accusations against Jack.

Mike ran from the police and turned up at Mickey's. Trish developed multiple personalities—bitter Cynthia, who wants her mother dead, and gentle Liza, who doesn't remember Jack's murder. Laura wondered why Trish is herself only with David. Phyllis was pleased that Bob has another woman in his life, Linda. Julie brought guests to Jeri's memorial service for Jack, but none of his own friends showed up.

Mike told Mickey of his love for Linda and his jealousy of Bob. Mike was torn between the decision to run away from the police or help Trish, after witnessing her "Cynthia" personality.

THE DOCTORS

Paul and Stacy announced their secret wedding and her pregnancy. The Dancy children learned their father, Barney, is back and has been admitted to the hospital with hepatitis. Eleanor gave Lew a gift of $500 to attend art school. Paul made it look as though Althea's becoming negligent at work.

Steve asked Jason to begin divorce proceedings. Lew took a powder when the family learned of Barney's hospitalization. Nola rebuffed Wayne.Paul and Stacy left for a Canadian honeymoon

Penny and Jerry enjoyed the bridal bower. M.J caught the bridal bouquet, but Ann moved in with the Aldriches to nurse fevered Stephanie. Maggie warned Matt to shape up and be a husband again.

Under an assumed name, Ann informed Carolee's doctor that the photo of his patient in the Madison papers was Maryellen Smithfield, and that no one in town would remember her. M. J.'s brother Darren arrived in town and convinced her to fight for Steve. Jerry gave Matt and Jason a recording of a photographer who'd been told how to get into Joanie's room secretly before she died. Paul returned, leaving Stacy in Canada.

THE EDGE OF NIGHT

Nicole wasn't killed. It was a plot to catch Darcy's secretary, who was arrested. Beau told Nancy she wouldn't have to work to get information on Mike, but that Timmy's life is still in danger if she opens her mouth. Steve told Danny he intends to date Tracy. Beau offered to put Steve on the Ace of Clubayroll.

Mike suspected that Nancy is an informer for Beau and Saxon. Revenent (Darcy) sent a tape saying that there would be no more further attempts on Nicole's life, since she can't remember the island location. Tracy sought psychiatric help from Chris. Raven pretended to be living with Draper to make Ansel jealous.

Mike supplied Nancy with false information, which she passed on to Beau and Saxon. Mike is convinced Nancy is working for them because she's in love with Beau. Beau and Saxon learned of the game and told Nancy that threats to Timmy would stiil be used to keep her in line. Molly surmised that Nicole is pregnant. Deborah dated Steve, even though her father ordered her not to.

Nicole hesitated telling Adam she's pregnant and remembered that Billy had saved her life on the island. Nadine and Ansel returned from their honeymoon to learn that Raven had gone to Washington with Draper, who's investigating Saxon's income tax records.

GENERAL HOSPITAL

Monica refused to grant permission for Jeff's surgery. Terri and Steve discovered that Steve is Jeff's father, and Steve gave his permission. Diana accidentally ran over Mike. Heather told Diana she's pregnant. Adam and Rick warned Lesley not to go to Chicago to see Mac, Cam's crony, who has news on Laura.

Jeff's operation was successful. Rick turned Monica out. Mac agreed to give information on Laura to Lesley if she turned over money and the remaining criminal evidence against him. Mike recovered and reconciled with Diana and Peter.

The adoption agency agreed to allow Mike to stay with the Taylors. Heather visited Jeff and almost revealed her pregnancy, but Monica interrupted them. Mark arranged a job for sister Gina at the hospital. Mac informed Lesley that Laura is her child.

Steve gave Monica two month's notice and insisted that she and Jeff can't stay in the same town. Adam's daughter Jill was jealous when he hired and dated Gina.

GUIDING LIGHT

Peggy learned there's no reason she can't conceive. Holly told Barbara she wouldn't use Rita's situation to win Ed back, unless he returned of his own free will. Rita resolved to tell Ed the truth about Granger. Roger thanked Rita for agreeing not to mention his name.

Rita told Ed about her association with Malcolm and the Granger family. He insisted he stiil wanted to marry her, then had doubts. Roger learned he's temporarily sterile. Evie moved in with her new employer, Jacqueline. Ben made a stab at reconciling with Hope.

Mike and Rita refused to plea bargain with the D.A., who insists he'll win first degree murder charges. Rita had a flashback of being with Roger while working for the Grangers, but told Roger that she hadn't told anyone the whole truth. Ben told Evie that he and Hope aren't seeing each other anymore.

Rita's trial began with heated prosecution and defense opening remarks. Jackie told Justin she's interested in Mike, but insisted Emmet never learn the real reason she split with Justin.

LOVE OF LIFE

Van noticed that Lynn enjoyed Ben's "brotherly" attentions. Betsy agreed to spend a skiing weekend with Ben. Felicia's having morning sickness symptoms. Rich bought Cal the mill house. She admitted she wants to get pregnant. Tom grew suspicious of Arlene's past, thanks to lan's intimations.

A young motorcyclist collided with Ben's car and was killed. Ben, fearing prison again, fled. Betsy was humiliated by Ben's standing her up. Arlene started work at Beaver Ridge, thanks to lan's maneuverings.

Ben couldn't tell Betsy he feared his hit-and-run accident could send him back to Jail. Joe examined Felicia. She made him promise not to tell Charles she may be pregnant.

Felicia learned she is pregnant. Van tried to talk her out of an abortion. Ben met the dead motorcyclist's father, Dr. Marriott, who's married to a younger woman, Mia. Van worried about Lynn's interest in Ben.

LOVERS AND FRIENDS

The show premiered on January, 3rd 1977.

The middle class Saxton family moved next door to the wealthy Cushing clan. The Saxtons include mother and father Josie and Lester (a reformed alcoholic), their children Rhett (who has an old flame, Connie Ferguson), Jason, Bentley, Tessa and Eleanor (who is married to George Kimball, who financed the Saxton move and secured a job for Les). The Cushings include Edith and Richard (who's having an affair with secretary Barbara Manners), their children Megan (who's engaged to rich Desmong Hamilton), and bohemian dropout Austin (who had a disastrous love affair with former neighbor Laurie Brewster). Austin's intrigued by the Saxtons, but Edith's snooty. Les and Josie feared they were moving into a neighborhood beyond their class. Even though social-climbing Eleanor masterminded the move, she, too, is having second thoughts.

Megan admitted to Austin she's marrying Desmond because she's bored. Edith was distressed that mother Sophia was neighborly with the Saxtons. Ellie was upset that Les counseled Austin on alcoholism. Amy decided to move in with her cousins. Les visited the plant where he'll be a section manager.

Amy was crushed to learn that Austin is working and laying off the booze in order to win back Laurie's love. Megan refused to set an earlier wedding date, then invited Connie and Rhett to double-date with her and Desmond. Edith scolded Sophia for revealing family problems to the Saxtons. Jason agreed to help Amy win Austin.

Austin agreed to help Jason find a job, then was miffed when Jason made a heavy play for Laurie and began drinking again. Rhett agreed to help Megan with a thesis project and Jason needled him about fooling around behind Connie's back.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE

Cathy remembered that Megan is dead, but nothing about Kevin. Larry and Karen split. She dated Dr. Alex Bennett to make Larry jealous. Matt complained to Dorian that Joe's been hitting the bottle and not doing his work.

Jenny refused Brad's marriage proposal. He made the scene with Lana. Vicki got fed up with Joe's drunken accusations and threw it in his face about his affair with Cathy. Matt told Dorian to lay off Joe or he'd reveal her past schemes. Peter told Pat that Brian must undergo a dangerous operation.

Pat admitted to Tony that he's Brian's father. Dorian took advantage of Joe and Vicki's shattered relationship. Cathy agreed to keep a diary of her dreams and thoughts for Will. Lana grew determined to get Brad back.

Brad and Jenny tried to dissuade Samantha from sneaking off at night with her boyfriend Marty. Pat asked Tony not to reveal he's Brian's father until both Brian and Cathy are well. Naomi was suspicious of Will's affection toward Jenny after he learned that his manuscript was accepted by a publisher.

RYAN’S HOPE

While Pat and Faith spent a loving weekend at her beachhouse, Dee insisted to Father McShane and Bobby that she's pregnant. Jill was rushed to the hospital with signs of having a miscarriage. Seneca was furious she'd left the house for a date with Frank. Jack grew paranoid about his impotency and insisted Alex do corrective surgery immediately.

Against Seneca's wishes, Jill left the hospital, slipped on ice, and began miscarrying. Mary was furious that Jack consulted Roger about a bypass operation, even though Roger's opinion was the same as Alex and Clem's. Pat admitted his love to Faith. Bobby considered advising Dee to have an abortion.

Jack accused Mary and Alex of sexual relations while in Alex's country house, where they were stranded during a snowstorm. Dee went to pieces when she iearned Pat and Faith became engaged. Jill was saved from a miscarriage once again, but is confined to her hospital bed. Johnny suggested that Jack end his marriage.

Jack insisted he's seeking an annulment after consulting with Father MacShane. After learning that she is pregnant with Pat's child, Dee agreed to sign divorce papers. Frank headed to the Dominican Republic.

SEARCH FOR TOMORROW

After Jennifer was arrested for Eunice's murder, the gun she'd planted in John's room was found. He can be tried for conspiracy. Steve agreed to go on tour with Melissa Manchester. Gary found out about Bruce and Gail, who are working on a crime expose article and were warned they could be hurt.

Jennifer confessed she killed Eunice, but that John had helped her plan it. She agreed to be a prosecution witness against him. Kathy agreed to be John's defense attorney. Amy learned that Gail is Bruce's lover. Eric and Scott were in a tizzy because of Ralph's imminent move to Arizona.

Jennifer passed the lie detector test, but John didn't because of guilt feelings about his association with Jennifer. Amy told gail she knows Bruce is having an affair with "someone," but that she loves her husband and needs Gail's advice. Ralph's Arizona deal fell through and the Heywoods have no place to live.

An old friend of Jo's, Dr. Greg Hartford, arrived in Henderson. Eric moved back with Scott an Kathy, while Ralph looked for a job and place to live. Gail told Bruce to choose between her or his marriage.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Stuart discovered Nancy in a state mental hospital. He suggested that Chris take Karen to the hospital to force Nancy out of her catatonic state. Lorie and Lance announced their elopment to an astonished Vanessa, then left for their honeymoon. Thanks to Lorie, Peggy began seeing Jack again.

Peggy and Jack were secretly married. Lorie and Lance honeymooned in Tahiti. Leslie, told Brad about her pregnancy. Karen’s custody trial was postponed. Ron called Chris' house and secretly told Karen he'll return soon.

Stuart learned about Jack and Peggy's wedding. Detective Dillon continued his investigation of Bill's death and Snapper's the prime suspect. Liz introduced Jill to David and had nightmares about Bill. Kay begged JoAnn to quit her job' and work full-time as her companion.

Liz admitted to Jill that she'd pulled Bill's plug. While honeymooning in Japan, Lance was accosted by three hoods, who soon realized that he was the "Wrong" Mr. Prentiss.

Phil's police panner, Clay Watson, met and courted Caroline. Christina felt guilty about consulting Paul professionally after Anne's accusations.

Chuck insisted Little Phil couldn't move in with Phil and Tara after the child had an asthma attack. Phoebe accused Christina of trying to ruin Paul and Anne's marriage. Erica toyed with Jeff, Nick and Mark. Kitty convinced Mrs. Lum to return to Pine Valley.

Charles begged Ann to rehire Christina. Beth contracted fever. Donna changed her image with a new haircut. Kitty developed spells of blurred vision. Joe was suspicious of Brooke and Danny when the asked tor a birth control pill prescription. Phil was furious with Tara, who allowed Little Phil to stay with Chuck.

Nick told Erica she may hate being his sex object, but not enough to stop seeing him. Joe suggested that Kitty's illness is not physical and that she consult analyst Dr. Polk. Phoebe fumed about Donna's presence in Chuck and Little Phil's lives.

ANOTHER WORLD

Gil's son Burt broke the news to Ada that Gil and Tim were killed in a Bolivian mine explosion. Pat saved Sharlene from being assaulted by drunk Russ. Mac hired a housekeeper, Helga Lindeman, for Rachel. Marianne and Molly convinced John to follow Olive to California.

Olive returned to Bay City with John, but Ray told her there would be no divorce at John's expense. Iris spread rumors about Dave and Rachel. Mac offered Burt a job and Jeff asked Clarice to put in a good word with Mac for a job. Russ promised not to mistreat Sharlene, but she stayed with Alice. Darryl influenced Marianne to see the light about Olive.

Dr Gavin was brought in to treat Ada's depression. Iris questioned Brian's past when his son Ted arrived. Liz threatened to expose Sharlene's past unless she stayed away from Ruse. Mac celebrated his wedding anniversary by moving back with Rachel. John fired Jeff. Helga instigated friction among the servants.

Willis, Gwen and Evan vied for an architectual job with wealthy newcomer Vera Finley. Iris' plans for Brian were stymied when his former lover, Corinne Seton, arrived. Alice hired Jeff, who was peeved to find that Burt had become interested in Clarice.

AS THE WORLD TURNS

Pat agreed to help John with his kidnapping plot. They staged a fight. She used this as an excuse to take an extended leave of absence to secretly care for Andrew in a rented house outside of town. Dan and Kim set a March wedding date. Dee confided in Joyce about Beau and Annie. Natalie offered her apartment to Jay while he recuperates.

Lisa opened her big mouth to Valerie about Cliff's attempted seduction of Kim. Val accused Kim of spreading more lies and got cozy with Bob. John and Pat rented a house outside of town and made plans to kidnap Andy while he's with Carol. Susan got drunk by herself when there was no one to celebrate the completion of her research project with.

FF - I love these so much. I just wait and wait with baited breath on each one. Oh the memories they stir for me.

Do these papers list Guiding Light as that or do they list it with the THE still in place.

I am trying to get an exact time frame when they changed the name. Some of my sources say 1977 and some say 1978. I was just wondering when the papers changed it.
