Even if Nikki brought it up, Victor would probably believe that she shoulders more of the blame for what David brought on their lives. He'd probably say he hired David to help orchestrate Jack's political downfall and that's it, while Nikki was the one who hired David after Jack gave him the shaft to bolster her own campaign (which Vic was dead set against), and she was the one who kissed David and got caught on tape, and she was the one who refused to extricate herself from her disastrous marriage to David when people like Paul or him warned her about her ne'er-do-well hubby.

Still, it would be nice to see Nikki at least attempt to make that argument when Victor goes on one of his rants against her.

Just watched Thursday's episode and I am amazed at how strong it was, in par with the week's previous episodes. What is there to say? Victor and Sabrina were basically empty and hollow, but they have managed to pull off (and by "they" I mean the writers and actors) a compelling few episodes, were you care to see what happens to Sabrina. It really helps that RM is, like, acting. I have had a soft spot for Daniel and Amber for a few months (yes, I admit it) and seeing Amber shocked and begging Daniel was very heartbreaking. I am not too crazy about either one of them (don't hate them, don't love them) but it was very well acted and the haunting music didn't hurt either. Such a tragic twist when Adrian showed up just as Amber seemed to be making headway with Daniel! This is what I'm talking about! It was lovely seeing Brad sucking up to Katherine. As for the Nikki/Jill scenes? What can I say? Perfection? Orgasm? Something like that. Greatly written and acted. There was such pain, MTS and JW just brought, brought, BROUGHT it! There is such perfect soap-opera fall-out in these scenes, the Jabot and the hospital ones. There is a sense of all these people making horrible mistakes and now paying dearly for them--a sense of fate. Even Heather/Paul/her boss were very interesting to see! Maria has really saved Heather's return to GC: When Paul and Heather hugged, one got the feeling that they finally have gotten close, or at least closer than they were. And Nikki and Nick, confronting Nikki's feelings? Pure magic. And here is where I praise Sheffer's apparent influence on the show: While all the developments are certainly MAB, and I applaud her for this, the change on the show is quite evident. First of all, we have scenes that get cut on one episode and continue on the other. Nice, shocking or emotional, cliffhangers. Scenes interwoven between them. Amber, Victor, Nikki/Jill, then Amber, Victor, Nikki/Jill. And I have the feeling that the classic music coming back may have been more HS, since, in all her months, MAB didn't do much about that aspect. Unless they're only using it because these are supposed to be "special" episodes and are planning to go back to the crappy music again. Bottom line: The show is fantastic right now. I pray to God that it only gets better because it has proven that it CAN.

Now that is what I call setting them up to throw them down. The entire episode on Friday seemed like it was meant for the last 10 seconds of the show. My Lord, what an exhilarating 10 seconds those were. I cannot wait until Monday to see Victor tear it into Nikki. If this doesn't call for her turn into alcoholism, I don't know what will. Loneliness, guilt, loss, regret. Man, what a wallop on Nikki. Let's see MTS bring it over the next few months!!

Friday's episode was so heartbreaking and tough to watch, I actually think it's on par with OLTL in the "now-entering spoiler-free zone" aspect. Definitely don't want to know anything that's going on from now on. It's too damn good to be spoiled on paper. YAY Hogan, MAB, and the rest of the writing team. They've finally used one of the most talented group of actors on daytime to their fullest abilities.

And GO YANKEEES LOL.

I haven't watched Y&R in a long time but watched the whole week on Soapnet yesterday. Forget OLTL, Y&R is really rocking. Friday's show was really good, with Nikki seeing David, Sabrina and her unborn child in a nightmare before she knew that Sabrina had just died.

Free at last! Go Red Sox!! :P

I was about to rant about how fan bases and their mythical millions have ruined the soaps, but decided to ignore it like others are doing now.

I did notice the return of the classical Y&R music. I approve. I particularly liked the theme song in the hospital scenes. Good stuff. Hopefully, they keep up the good work. No more stunts though. Like MarkH stated, they get old real fast. Y&R still has a lot of things to fix, but they are on their way. Time to end Restless Style. Send characters back to where they belong. Nick and Victoria should be tussling with Adam at Newman. Jack should be back at Jabot with Sharon in tow. Cane should be with a grown woman. Maybe he and Sharon have an affair behind Lily and Jack's back.

Ugh...honoring a character's history, when the actress herself has said the character never properly went through recovery is LAZY storytelling?

This isn't like DID on OLTL. This is a character who is losing almost everything she wanted, who is being revealed as very very very weak...who has been battling her temptations for weeks....this is (in my view) appropriate and character driven story.

Exactly. Nikki's been sober for a loooooooooooooong time, it's time for a relapse. And MTS was right, Nikki didn't go through a proper recovery, with Katherine she had the intervention, tried to go cold turkey, went to rehab, came back etc etc etc. It made sense.

And we all know what a sublime alcoholic MTS plays, her drunk Nikki was terrific! Now if they could just get Jeanne Cooper in on the action with a crossover with Suzanne Rogers from DAYS and we'd have one hell of a drunk storyline.

If I remember correctly, didn't Nikki's alcoholism come about after she became addicted to her pain pills/morphine after a ridding accident? Not only has she been tempted to pick up the booze for weeks, David gave her a real parting gift by re-introducing her to morphine. I'd think of it as lazy writing not to have her fall of the wagon. I just hope it is played all out this time with no instant recovery.
