I wonder what the business logistic are - did Freemantle sell the show to Amazon, or is Amazon paying Freemantle a licensing fee to produce it (similar to what Channel 5 and the BBC did previously)? Amazon acquired the entire library in this deal as well.

Freevee is a free service, so the fact that will be its primary platform in the UK is also great, as that's the territory with the show's biggest following. Having it on Freevee in the US is a nice bonus.

How many years have I been talking about F.A.S.T. and its possibilities for continuing daytime dramas??! Guys! I was shouting into the void then, I guess.

Even before F.A.S.T., in fact, I have been talking about daytime dramas being revived via ad-supported streaming. Aargh!

From what’s been said, it appears Amazon FreeVee is paying a licensing fee to produce the show in partnership with Network Ten in Australia - so, kind of what it was before. The show will also be moving back to the main channel in Australia instead of being on a digital channel.

It’s really good news that it will be on FreeVee as the ad revenue will support the production costs. The only problem with streamers is that it’s difficult to know what constitutes a successful show from a viewer perspective.

I’m very happy about this. Totally buzzing. The back catalogue being available is a lovely bonus, especially as it will be available in the US, too! The American market has always been a bit difficult for Neighbours to break into, so I hope this is a success.

I remember watching One Life To Live when it moved to Prospect Park, and I thought they did a decent job, generally. But that was a move that was ahead of its time as someone else said. It’s a bit like Days moving to Peacock - these are experimental times for the genre.

Where has this been said? I find it curious that Amazon and TEN are going into partnership with this. I assume Film Victoria will still be stumping up some cash, and that, along with being offered the entire back catalogue, might have been what got Amazon interested.

Thank you

We have been sleeping on F.A.S.T. a bit. It occurred to me not long ago its possibilities might be strong for soaps when I got very, very bored and began watching a lot of Dallas on FreeVee.

I'll probably never fully recover from how close AMC and OLTL were to making it work, but it can be done again with many soaps. It's what should save General Hospital along with a complete creative overhaul porting it onto streaming, but that will likely not happen tbh. With the exception of Days, which may succeed against the odds some of us were predicting not long ago (due to Peacock's instability and poor quality) if their renewal news is true, I think the remainder of American soaps will have to be dragged off network TV to their deaths.

A special show for Neighbours as it moved to Channel 5, including many interviews and backstage moments. They really ramp up all the dramatic material in this (for promotional reasons) which has the side effect of making the show sail right into Acorn Antiques territory - the scene of Susan passing out after Toadie has a panic attack and is ushered from court made me laugh, I'm ashamed to say.

Janice Frame is Evan's mother. Janice & Mac were together. Janice was up to no good. Mitch was helping her. She was slowly, little by little, every day, POISONING Mac. She was almost successful. In St. Croix, Rachel & Janice began what was literally a physical fight. They fell into the resort swimming pool, continuing to fight each other. Somehow, I guess Janice had it on her, there was a knife in play but Rachel kept Janice from stabbing her & got it away from her & they continued to struggle until Rachel stabbed Janice, which was a death blow. Mitch did a 180 & helped Rachel get Mac to the hospital. He was so weakened by the poison he could not even stand unassisted. It took both of them together to walk him to the hospital but it did save his life.  The St. Croix remote was SO beautiful, but so dangerous & scary. Also action-packed. Hooray! Maxim's backSo, I just got home & this is what I found waiting for me. I wrote this several hours ago. I guess I neglected to hit send.
    • Thanks @skylark and @DRW50!
    •     data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Earlier I made a long reply but it doesn't exist. Crap.
    • I do not think I have ever agreed with Vee. Normally I do not read him, Ignore ya know. For some unknown reason I clicked to read. And I agree 1000%. Now, this is so odd that I need to go away for a bit.
    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.
