Sam Frost, one of the show's leading ladies of the last few years, also seems to have left due to the mandate. Or possibly. Bonner was only there about six months.  I wonder how this was never asked at the time the network hired him. He was a very likeable onscreen presence who fit into the community well and had good chemistry with his love interest. This is a loss. But the blame goes on him.

Really disappointed that Jasmine and Logan are leaving and I loved Jasmine & Cash together. I actually thought Sam Frost would stick around for the long haul as she past the three year barrier years ago.

Why can't Mia leave and take her hideous daughter with her. Chloe has treated Ryder like crap since even before the breakup. I also noticed she hated her father and didn't want anything to do with him when the truth was revealed but she certainly didn't give him his money back.

he has been in that show for so long.

Mackenzie starts to annoy me a bit. At least Felicity is making up for it!
Cash is quiet the interesting character and has a lot of potential

They really need to work on Marylins character. I swear to god. She is so likeable and such a sweetheart but then they give her such silly bs like it’s the 80’s all over again. She deserves better. I still can’t believe they split her and John up last year. What I don’t get is why Marylin has always been paired with older dudes (Donald, John etc.) ! And the only pairing that was remotely alright got ruined to prop Roo. (Sid)

I  always assume Marilyn has father issues. I do agree they need to do more with her but I think it's difficult at this point because she is so established and yet has no real family on the show, beyond her bonds with the Stewarts and Irene.

I have liked Mac but the poker/debt story  has felt endless and mostly just has her looking like a fool.

I'm going to miss Ryder. You can tell the show is too - he got a lovely sendoff.

Just got to Harley Bonner's exit in Australian pace (it took place around June 3rd and 6th), and boy can you tell it was abrupt. His character, Logan, due to legal and romantic problems, was becoming increasingly brusque in his job as head of the ER/ED. He was then shown in his office, making a phone call to the military (he'd been an army medic before coming to Summer Bay). The only other thing heard of him is a goodbye voicemail to his girlfriend.

The main reason you can tell just how abrupt it was is that Logan had been set up for a clash with new paramedic Xander (who isn't much of an actor but is likeable and pretty, befitting a Hemsworth cousin), and then suddenly after he left, Xander starts clashing with the new head of ED...and you know he was hired in a rush because the guy playing him was schlubby and not a sweet piece of ass. The character was also fired from the hospital in two episodes time, detailed mostly through very expository phone calls between Xander and his sister Jasmine...followed by more expository scenes with Xander and John Palmer, rather than actually appearing in a scene with Jasmine.

Jasmine is also leaving in the next few episodes...can't wait to see how messy that one will be!

Home and Away won most popular Drama Programm!!! Booooom! That show is on fire!

Neighbours Fans criticizing the short farewell segment. I mean that show has no real ratings anymore. If they were such strong fanbase then they would’ve taken a Logie Award and push their show‘s ratings in Australia.

Another example of how H&A seems to be throwing things again the wall with the sudden departures of Logan and Jasmine. It could work...not sure if just adding bands onto a soap ever has a great hit rate. I assume the one woman is there to replace Jasmine's role in Cash's story.

@AdelaideCate007 @Dion @Forever8 Moving the conversation from the Neighbours thread.

I had forgotten about Pippa and Don.  I don't think either are mentioned these days either.

You may have already  read this but a former storyliner for the show talked about how he planned to bring Fisher back, with dementia, dying in Alf's arms. The story, along with several others (like Brody Morgan being gay) was vetoed.

    • Maeve makes a few sporadic appearances, but returns full-time the next spring/summer. She's back in time to see Bill and Michelle graduate, although she skulks around town and wasn't going to tell anyone she was alive. She comes back wearing this HUGE hat---which was a throwback to the old Vanesaa. lol.
    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
