Yeah I don't know how they're going to fill the younger woman absence left by Stacey. I am liking Lauren a little more lately but she still has a long way to go.

I forgot to say how much I loved the scene of Janine playing the recording to herself over and over.

There have been a lot of quiet and showing, not telling moments in the recent episodes. It makes a nice change.

Ryan sure knows how to pick them, eh? The best thing he can do is let Stacey take the fall, and if he wants to be dirty, get Janine for attempted murder. Take his daughter, move away, and start all over somewhere else. Because hooking up with these Prisoner Cell Block H character isn't good for him at all.

Peter was totally spot on about Ian. He's a selfish pig. Even this far into the whole mess, he was willing to make Jane think Peter pushed Glenda because she rejected his advances. The hell!? I hope Peter comes back soon.

And what was with Ben? Are they afraid to give this guy too many lines? I'm interested in how he's going to handle Ben being the one who pushed Glenda.

The way these stories have been going, it's impossible for a newer viewer to not get wrapped up reading all of the back story. What did you all think of Bradley? Honestly, reading all he did, it looks like he was fast on his way to becoming another Ian. The shy "nice guy" who is really controlling a bit sadistic.

Ryan has also killed, although that was in self-defense. I think they should do a prostitution story with Ryan. It would make more sense than the Glenda stuff, and he's not exactly Mr. Personality or Brains, so that body is most of what he's got going for him.

I think they are giving Ben little dialogue because they want to show him as being menacing. It works, but this character will have a tough road ahead if he is ever going to become an important character. Santer so firmly established Ben as a joke that anything beyond Ben all singing and all dancing is going to disappoint many.

Bradley was a nice guy. He did pressure Stacey to have an abortion and he dumped his girlfriend he moved to Canada with, but other than that he usually tried to do the right thing. I miss Bradley. Santer and DTC had no time for him and only saw him as Stacey's patsy, but his absence has left a void, as there are no other nice guys, although they have kind of put Fatboy in his role.

I haven't seen it yet either but I've heard there's some good Stacey/Max stuff. I will miss them together.

Some of the anti-Kirkwood posters at DS are creating multiple threads demanding his firing and saying "Salford" needs help so that alone is a good time  I guess Tracy and yet more bad writing ruining Corrie's Christmas episodes has caused some upset.

I'm glad she got away -- I hope that even if she doesn't come back they might someday do a one-off on her new life, like they did with Bianca. Do you think that would work?

I wonder where Janine will go next. I can't wait to see her scenes today. Kirkwood has done a wonderful job bringing her back to her best, or close anyway.

I wonder if the BBC has enough money to do stuff like that anymore, but it's a good idea.

Stacey's exit sounds similar to Kathy's exit from 1998, which I loved. Of course, they're both under very different circumstances.

I heard that Stacey didn't have a real goodbye scene with Kat though, which I would have liked.

I don't know why Santer never "got" Janine, Kirkwood seemed to get her better almost immediately.

I think Santer tended to write more with forced camp -- which does work in some cases. Janine, she's campy, sure, but she also has a real jagged edge, which I think Kirkwood gets.

That's a shame she didn't get a final scene with Kat.

I had forgotten about the BBC's money crunch in more recent years. I really liked that they used to have them for various characters. If Stacey is a ratings grabber then they might be able to do something. Too bad they can't make those DVDs like Emmerdale and Corrie have with ITV.

Stacey's last scene:

Kathy's 1998 exit:

I love final scenes like these for some reason...

I hope Stacey has a happier life than Kathy did.

I know some have said they ripped off Kathy's exit but I think there are some differences (namely that Kathy wanted to leave - Stacey had little choice).

I still get emotional when I hear Julia's Theme...

    • Thanks @Paul Raven . I love that she even drew up a petition. A shame she didn't get to finish out that storyline, although it seemed to become a mess anyway.
    • It's funny to think one of the only later mentions of Justin/Sarah was in The Guiding Plight. They had some decent chemistry in the 1976 episode put out on DVD.
    • Very. They're building up his story again and picking the perfect time to do so. As the SilkPress storyline climaxes and go off in several great directions, they are building up that story to take a turn.

    • @Soapsuds Thanks for posting Night by night Mon 8pm The Rookies edged Gunsmoke but attracted younger(more desirable) viewers.NBC failed with Born Free/Smothers Brothers (how many different series did those 2 get??) 9-11pm  Maude/Rhoda/Medical Center dominated on CBS,but Football and Movies were competitive on an occasional basis. ABC tried  SWAT/Caribe later in the season and the former worked for them. Tues 8-11 pm CBS all the way Good Times, MASH, Hawaii Five O,Barnaby Jones. NBC had the fading Adam 12,Movie and Police Story mmm...don't see that listed? ABC Happy Days, which ABC decided to keep despite lackluster ratings, the Movie of the Week and Marcus Welby-once pulling big numbers but no longer. 8pm NBC had a new hit with Little House, easily beating Sons and Daughters, which was axed and replaced with Tony Orlando, which did much better. ABC had That's My Mama and the Wed movie. 9pm Cannon was the lead here as Lucas Tanner failed to capitalize on the LHOTP leadin. ABC continued the movie. 10pm Manhunter started strong for CBS but petered out and was cancelled. Petrocelli manged to beat Get Christie Love, which was replaced by Baretta-no ratings winner but ABC decided to renew. Thurs Another CBS night with The Waltons and a movie. ABC counterprogrammed with Odd Couple/Paper Moon then Barney Miller/Karen NBC did even worse with Sierra and replaced it with Mac Davis which improved ratings quite a bit. However, it was moved to 9pm for Sunshine/Bob Crane 9pm Some good numbers for ABC with Streets of San Francisco fending off Ironside,Archer and Mac Davis. 10pm Harry O had a slim victory over Movin On Fri 8-11 NBCs best night Sanford/Chico/Rockford/Police Woman. 8pm CBS had high hopes for Planet of the Apes but it bombed. Replacement Khan did even worse. Paul Sand and We'll Get By were tossed in at the end of the season. With poor lead ins the Friday movie didn't deliver. ABC's odd line up saw Kodiak flop, Six Million dollar Man struggle and Texas Wheelers  quickly cancelled. Kung Fu was brought in @8 and Six Million moved to 9. Then Kolchak took over at 8 and Hot*l Baltimore/Odd Couple 9-10. Despite controversy Hot*l flopped. 10pm ABC tried Kolchak then Baretta and finally Get Christie Love Sat CBS lead  with #1 AITF then Paul Sand/MTM/Bob Newhart/Carol Burnett. Paul Sand lost too much of the lead in so CBS spun off The Jeffersons and it was a smash. NBC did OK with Emergency (which beat Paul Sand on occasion, thus hastening that show's demise) and a movie. ABC was a disaster with New Land/Kung Fu and Nakia all failing. They introduced a movie @9 and moved Kung Fu to 8. Sun  NBC  with Disney and Mystery Movie (Columbo McCloud, MacMillan and Wife/Amy Prentiss)did well. ABC flopped with Sonny Bono and recovered by moving Six Million Dollar Man from Fri as a lead in to the movie. CBS hoped Apples Way would be another Waltons but no, so Cher did what Sonny couldn't. Kojak and Mannix successfully finished out the night. Two other shows on the ratings list were Adams of Eagle Lake starring Andy Griffith. Only 2 episodes aired and did well, so I'm not sure what happened there. As for The Law it was a series follow up to a 2 and a half hour NBC special movie .

    • Trust is very easily lost and very hard to re-build.
    • Oh, I know it was. I was just talking about how it's not giving me parallels to Caroline dying. It's really as far from it as possible.  But about the foreshadowing - Hahahhahah. Yes. And you missed one - Liam googling - "what is cancer"...
