Members Y&RWorldTurner
EEClipz made this video detailing Kat and Ronnie's histories in preparation for the upcoming storyline: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=956YLXYO_y0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=956YLXYO_y0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=956YLXYO_y0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> This video really makes Ronnie's story look at a lot better than it really was/is. Her story really lacked the heart and complexity of Kat's initial storyline, or at least the way it was executed throughout the long-term.
Members DRW50
Thanks for posting that. In a lot of ways, although she has been given some terrible material, Sam Womack was lucky, in terms of timing, because she came on and was heavily featured during a time when EE was endlessly hyped as brilliant. Now Jessie Wallace is back and already getting a lot of flack for somehow ruining EE or being on too much -- even though none of the stories people complain about the most have anything to do with Kat.
Members DRW50
I loved the last Janine/Pat scene in today's episode, and Charlie's performance - the disbelief, the little girl lost, allowing herself to cry, and then the cold anger. Those scenes encapsulated everything Janine is and Charlie really connected to the material in a way I haven't seen her do that much on her return. It was like having the old Janine on again.
Members BadBoy93
Here are my thoughts on EE so far. Its quite dry. There aren't enough interesting plots to keep me wanting to tune in. Kat/Alfie have been shoved down our faces as the New Den/Angie and sadly doesnt really work. New Vic is nice but really we have seen enough. Ian is getting less interesting or important now that Lucy is gone and Peter goes in Xmas. Wonder when these recasts are going to happen. The Mitchells have gone nowhere but in a foggy place. They have no aim and dont seem to be strong and together as a family. Carol has become a stone cold hard bitch and doesnt spend nearly enough time with her family. Glenda is The Eastender's Claire Devine (From Hollyoaks) and The Other Families dont have nearly good screentime or stories. The Massoods are better but thats really it. Janine is back to The Janine we all knew and love. I really want to see more of Lauren & Whitney , in fact more of the young generation. We started 2010 complaining about the teens and now it seems there are too little of them. Characters I Love - Ian , Pat , Phil , Billy , Kat , Darren , Max , Lauren , Shirley , Jay , Christian , Whitney , Ryan , Fatboy , Glenda & Vanessa Characters I Hate - Bianca (Sort of) , Tanya , Roxy , Ronnie & Jack Characters I Bring Back - Johnny , Ruby , Claire , Nigel , Cindy , Lou , Bradley , Diane , Frank , Zsa Zsa , Nick , Stella , Barry , Natalie , Arthur , Lisa , Mark , Martin , Michelle , Pauline , Sonia , Chelsea , Garry , Andy , Robbie , Lucas , Tony , Joe , Demi , Mickey , Rosie , Archie , Grant , Honey , Kathy , Little Mo , Peggy , Sam , Tiffany , Vinnie , Jake , Nana , Mel , Steve , Dennis , Sharon , Eddie , Sean , Zoe , Dan , Dawn , Clyde , Paul , Angie , Chrissie , Den , Wellard , Carly , Deano , Kevin , David , Simon & James-Willmott A Lot i know.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
A lot, especially considering a good number of them are dead, some of the actors as well...

Members Sylph
Kirkwood isn't working out. Santer's show was a TV equivalent of a Californian blonde, hollow but eventful, and the utter and quite specific superficiality of it all was entertaining. This is just not going anywhere.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Most of the storylines going on now are still remnants of the Santer era, and really, most of the problems have been there for quite a while. The new Story Producer has only been there for two weeks, so I assume we have to give it time to see what she can come up with and when her actually material that she's overseen from the start will hit the air. As Ben mentioned, the show isn't atrociously bad and is still watchable, but some of the pacing, continuity, and character motivation could be sorted out better. Maybe it will when the transition settles down, who knows? As I mentioned in the other thread, I think the show only poured planning and resources into the Live episode this year, and it's really hurt everything and a lot of the characters since then (like Stacey). Members DRW50
That was true more for the 2005 era of the show. Santer's era was campy and self-important but also full of ugly issues they were unable to treat respectfully, like rape and child molestation. They were just good at hype, and Santer was good at kicking the can down the road, with others taking blame for his mistakes. I do think the show has a lot of problems, and frankly a lot of stuff on the show is just weird at the moment, but I also feel like Kirkwood was already written off before he ever started. It reminds me of Anita Turner on Emmerdale. She was not very good but she was also basically written off as soon as she arrived. Members Sylph
Yes, you are both right. I guess I'm just impatient for something a bit bigger to start. Eventually, I hope it will. And I think, Carl, you hit the nail on its head: what I think I lack and find lackclustre is that Kirkwood isn't really good at pimping the show as Santer and everything kind of falls flat. Santer knew how to bloat an event and make it seem better than it really is (now wonder he's good at people manipulation, didn't he major in psychology?). It seemed as if every 3 months something relevant happened (though it didn't, clearly).

Members Y&RWorldTurner
The BBC has done two specialty videos with Stacey to promote her exit I guess. One is narrated by Stacey/Lacey, and the other is a montage of clips from her 6 years on the show: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ3igorBayw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ3igorBayw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ3igorBayw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywzm8CY5NDk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywzm8CY5NDk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywzm8CY5NDk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Members DRW50
Thanks for posting those. I agree with the fans who wonder why there hasn't been more promotion for the upcoming episodes, but considering the BBC has a limited budget they usually seem to do a good job coming up with promos and things to get our interest.

Members Y&RWorldTurner
The BBC now has an entire page devoted to Stacey, the 'I Heart Stacey" page, similar to the one they had for Peggy a few months ago. http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/stacey/ Edited December 14, 2010 by Y&RWorldTurner
