ALL: How much longer will you endure?

I'm just waiting for the "big" Y&R thing in August and then I'm gone. I will stop watching every single one if this turns out to be a total flop.

What about you?

I do not endure anything, because when i am unhappy with something i make a change in my life.

i dont understand people watching soaps they *hate* ... if thats bad then why are you watching? the way some people talk about soaps its like an epic torture being forced upon them.

As long as the classic GL clips I love remain on the Youtube server lol.

I couldn't endure AMC last year anymore and I stopped watching it. And I have no interest in returning.

However, I keep watching Y&R even if it's bad. I always say I'll quit if things get worse, but for some unknown reason I always watch it, or at least listen to it.

I am the same way, but for me, thats because it hasnt gotten to that horrid awful unwatchableness.

people always say '_________ is unwatchable' and keep watching it. i just dont understand. I mean, i dont think there is any soap of all the ones i have ever watched that there wasnt some point i quit because of the quality. oltl i quit almost as soon as i started. amc i quit last year when it became All My Zendull. gh i have quit here and there over time. days i quit with hogan. Y&r under lml, b&b off and on, atwt and gl same thing. it doesnt mean i dont love them, or that i am not a true fan, i just turn it off when i am that unhappy.

Slavery drove me away from AMC last fall. B&E's boring storytelling had already limited me to one or two episodes a week -- but then it got to the point where I was bored to death watching Slavery whine and complain about Spike and Ian and Richie and SabineLee... the combination of boring stories with airtime hogging, self-righteous and self-centered couples was my breaking point.

I tuned back in for moments since Angie and Jesse returned in January. I watched Angie's return... Jesse's return... tuned out. Then I watched Jesse and Angie's reunion in February... tuned out. Watched Jesse and Angie get married in May... tuned out.

Last week I watched an episode while I was eating lunch on my day off -- tuned out when I cleared my plate at 1:32pm and went to the beach.

I haven't even watched General Hospital (with the exception of Guza's first day back after the strike) since that horrid TMK reveal.

So, yeah. I'm a person who doesn't "endure" if I get nothing pleasureable out of it all. So I will tune back into AMC in a couple weeks to see how Pratt dovetails, if he does, B&E's stories into his own... and if he falls flat on his face (would that be considered a... PRATT FALL?! ) then I'm tuning right back out.

I'll be here to the end, mine or the shows. :)

Monday was just about the worst episode EVER of my show, Y&R...with B&B close behind. Still, I'll be there till the bitter end. Soaps are a relationship for me...a mythical place I can go to, with faces and stories that stretch back over three decades into my past. I can remember what I was doing when major beats hit my shows. There are many shows I no longer regularly watch, but I still keep up with them--like distant relatives in a Christmas letter.

I have no hopes for Y&R's big "August". Hype is a killer.

Soaps have been a constant in my life but when I'm not enjoying them, I switch off. I haven't watched GH in weeks, for example.

But I'm still watching Y&R (even though, as MarkH points out, Monday's Little Richard-fest was horrid). I came back after tuning out LML/Bloom's/Sony's version. Now that was awful. The fact that they are showcasing Jill, Kay and Nikki so much more (and Brad's Thighs of Destruction so much less) is a big plus for me.

I'll stick with the Bell soaps for a while longer, probably until the end. I have no expectations for Y&R's "super" August, except for seeing some SLs tied up and new ones triggered.

I'll stick with a show as long as there's something of interest. If I've been watching it for years, like B&B, then I'll always come back. Like, at the moment, I'm not watching, because nothing interests me, but I keep up with it through recaps and spoilers, because the characters still interest me, just not the stories. I'll never tune out indefinitely. Basically, lower your expectations, and you can't be too disappointed.

Don't give up on B&B, yet, Sylph (or anyone else for that matter) - I have it on good authority that they've got something mind-blowing planned. There are no details at present (hence why I haven't posted it in the spoiler section), as it's not scheduled to tape for another couple of months. This is meant as an incentive, not me being showy or anything.

^^ Showy you are NOT! I always enjoy reading your posts. And thanks for the heads-up. B&B always pulls this one on me. Just when I'm about to drop it (which I'm not at the moment -- thanks to Marcus & Steffy), they rig up something which flips the show on its head. In a good way!

Although I am disappointed about killing off Storm and backburning Lesli Kay and Eileen Davidson. All three have/had HUGE potential. Hopefully B&B will pleasantly surprise me re: the last two actresses.

I agree, I'm reasonably happy with B&B at the moment. It's not as good as it could be, but at the moment they are doing fine in my eyes. Yes, even with the Logan invasion. But at least the Logan invasion consists of characters with a history and are played by seasoned actors.
