June 30, 200817 yr Member Sorry if this was already posted anywhere From the new SID: A new Latin family is headed to OLTL this fall: Casting calls were issued for Hector, a businessman from Colombia, and his daughter Elena, a newcomer to Llanview High. The soap is also casting Maria, a sexy thirtysomething Latina married to a powerful and ruthless CEO. All 3 contract roles begin in August Edited June 30, 200817 yr by Zendall Fan
June 30, 200817 yr Member See if their gonna bring a new family in they should start them on recurring and slowly work them in. This has Santi family written all over it again. Or well Santi-esque Edited June 30, 200817 yr by Scotty Q
June 30, 200817 yr Member Hopefully, the stereotypes does not travel to Llanview with this family. I look forward to this development.
June 30, 200817 yr Member Oh come on. Is it too much to ask for at least one black family, geez. I also wouldn't mind another Jewish or Muslim family.
June 30, 200817 yr Member Are these new people really necessary?? I'll reserve my judgements until these characters start airing, but I don't like the sound of this.
June 30, 200817 yr Member I don't think these new characters are necessary and why are they all on contract.
June 30, 200817 yr Member I think it's good that RC and FV are addressing some of our concerns about diversity, or lack thereof, on OLTL. Hopefully, this won't be another Santi mess, and that this new family will receive solid storylines which tie in well with the rest of the Llanview canvas. Edited June 30, 200817 yr by Khan
June 30, 200817 yr Member But OLTL already has a Latino family, I was hoping for a Jewish, Muslim, gay, or any another type of ethnic/religious/social/economic group. I'm not saying too many Latinos is a bad thing, but when you already have Latino characters on your show, I think you can afford to add another group to your canvas. The fact that they're putting all these characters on contract seems a bit worrying as well, but we'll see. I've always said Ron C's weakness is diversity, hell Layla was used more under Tomlin than she is now. Edited June 30, 200817 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
June 30, 200817 yr Member Diversity is diversity and OLTL is about the only soap that fully has an established Latino family, aside from PSNS which is about to be cancelled. So I welcome these new diverse characters. Hopefully, Ron will introduce them the right way, instantly interweaving them within other characters and establishing a connection. As long as these new characters are sharing something with characters we love then it will be watchable. It's when new characters are only being seen with other new characters or with characters that fans don't care for.
June 30, 200817 yr Member As bad as JER was, PASSIONS probably had the most diverse cast in recent years. Hell, they even included an Orangutan in a front burner storyline.
June 30, 200817 yr Member Hell, they even included an Orangutan in a front burner storyline. Yep. Eric Martsolf rocked.
June 30, 200817 yr Member I have complete faith in Ron's ability to introduce new characters. Charlie, Gigi and Jared have all been integrated flawlessly into the show.
June 30, 200817 yr Member Oh Good! Because The Vega's and The Santi's were written so well. I wouldn't mine seeing and American Indian family in Llanview.
June 30, 200817 yr Member RC's motto is Latino, not African American. BS. There is already a Latino family in Landview. Why not build an African American family around Layla?
