Original Ava was propably Marland's creation. However I've read somewhere that once ethnic-looking Roya was cast in the part there were some plans to make Ava the product of a "scandalous affair" between Kate and an African American man. Loving never went there, but that would make a great story.

:o Whoa. That woulda been something else, very interesting if that's true. Kinda funny coincidence seeing as how we were just talking about Sadie and Carla coming to Loving.

This thread is great. Loving was the only ABC soap I seem to watch even if it was only occasionally, I think I was more interested in saying that I watched the lowest rated soap more than anything else. That said I never watched The City, I think I only watched the first episode of it because my ABC station later stopped airing it.

From May 1 1990 SOD. News America Publishing. Too bad Marlee never appeared on LOVING, she's a good actress and that might have helped give them some more publicity.

The second photo was part of a "Thumbs Up." I'll type that out in a minute.

Also from the 9/13/94 SOD (K-III Magazine Co), in their Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down section:

LOVING

Crossover Confusion

Let's acknowledge that soaps are pretend, and actors jump from show to show. But we still admit to shaking our heads in befuddlement over the crossover confusion at LOVING's July 4 party.

There was Jeremy Hunter (Jean LeClerc), who had moved from ALL MY CHILDREN's Pine Valley. He was greeted by Deborah Alden. Deb was played by Nancy Addison Altman - the actress who played Jeremy's lover, Marissa, on AMC. So Jeremy moved to Corinth, but Marissa turned into Deborah? Or is Deborah the spitting image of Marissa - and Jeremy never noticed? It made us wonder what happened to David, Jeremy and Marissa's son. Jeremy doesn't mention his son now, but on AMC, David was a big part of his life. Just as we got over that quandary, in walked Elizabeth, played by Susan Pratt - who used to be Barbara on AMC!

ABC recognizes the value of rehiring talented actors, and we have no problem distinguishing GH's Laura Spencer and AMC's Caera Hunter (both played by Genie Francis) or OLTL's Michael Grande from LOVING's Clay Alden (portrayed by Dennis Parlato). Separate characters, separate shows, and never the twain shall meet. But unless it's done right, a crossover is jarring to viewers who watch the entire ABC soap lineup.

From the 11/21/95 SOD. K-III Magazine Co I know all this is very serious martial arts but for some reason when I got this years ago the photos always made me crack up.

LOL, Ted King was known as TW! LOved him on GH as Lorenzo. Never saw him on Loving or The City.

ABC needs to upload all episodes on YouTube!

I didn't tune into GH a lot during his run but I guess he was one of many who paid a price for not being Jason or Sonny.

I think he was TW until late into the 90s. He was also TW when he was on the very short lived Timecop.

Danny was a poorly written character but TW/Ted had a lot of charisma.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.

    • I enjoy BF better on Days than on YR.   Chad is greater than Cane, in my opinion.
    • Ick! Seeing MS and BF making out as the characters onscreen was just ewwww.

    • That was the best part of Tuesday's episode.  Martin and Smitty and their family are boring.
    • Crew Morrow's acting on Tuesday's episode was just dreadful. The weird faces he was making were just awful
