@EricMontreal22 Thanks for all these articles, Some fascinating stuff. From that Agnes article, Loving seemed cursed from the start. I get the impression they were always chasing their tail, trying to establish story, casting etc without the proper lead in time to get things at least somewhat settled before diving in.

Never seen a pic of Tom King before. I wonder what the Taggart/King comedies were like?

With Millee having such a history with SFT I wonder whether they would have made good headwriters at her old show?

Re the accusations of homophobia with Granger—I have that scan saved together with a report of Granger going back on her word and not bringing back Larkin Malloy as Clay after he was replaced for an agreed on leave. Was Larkin gay? Trying to think why I connected the two when I was organizing (I see his wiki says nothing about his love life).

It's possible this might be about Eric Woodall. He was a major front-burner storyline with Ally. Then all of a sudden, the storyline and character was dropped. Eric later came out, and his now a casting director and in a happy marriage with his husband.

BUT Granger did hire Paul Anthony Stewart, and he is gay. So who knows?

In terms of Larkin Malloy, I truly believe TPTB saw Dennis Parlato as a better fit as Clay.

I liked Larkin a lot on AMC but I would agree with that. I did wonder why Matt seemed so suddenly dropped

ARTICLE: Warner Bros. Animation Announces Development On ‘Dark Shadows’ Adaptation Based On Cult-Classic Soap Opera

I am open to further development because the franchise remains popular but also because I do think they've had a string of bad luck with previous revivals. The 1991 show was well received but struggled due to scheduling issues. The 2004 WB reboot will always remain a mystery to me. It seemed like a sure thing that would be picked up and having seen the pilot, I do think it was good and well cast. That Tim Burton film shouldn't even be considered. He took a franchise that could've driven multiple movies and turned it into a ridiculous parody.
When you look at things like Twilight, there was an audience for a gothic, romantic horror series like this. I think everybody was thrown for a loop when they saw what Burton actually came up with.
I'd prefer a straight up tv show revival but this does sound interesting enough that I could see myself checking it out.

Y&R: Josh Griffith steps down as head writer

Sally Sussman Morina has never had a successful HW-ing stint anywhere - Generations was threading water until Jorn Winther joined as Senior EP to revamp it before it was cancelled, her DAYS HW stint saw that show lose like a million viewers, and the Y&R HW stint was boring and ill-plotted - characterization was OK, but as with most of Sally’s work, there was never any pizzazz.

Ladies of London

It was ratings for both. LOL just had bad ratings across the board. Miami did well on streaming but it's live numbers were terrible and it didn't have enough to justify continuing it. Personally, my controversial idea to save Miami is to bring in Joseline and one other black wife (maybe Amara Le Negra) and I think the black audience they'd bring would give the show enough viewers to be sustainable.
With Ladies of London, I feel two ways: Bringing this show back was Bravo being shady and trying to undercut Real Housewives of London. Hayu had a London-based BravonCon and brought Andy and a bunch of housewives over to announce that show. Instead of working with Hayu and bringing the show to Bravo (which they're doing now), they suddenly decided to bring this back. Rumor has it there was lots of drama with casting with Bravo poaching people like Kemi and Juliet Angus was supposed to be here which is why she showed up so late on RHOLDN.
Based on how it came about I feel like this is karma but I won't deny that Ladies of London was an excellent reboot, far better than the original show. It just couldn't find an audience. On Peacock the show was rarely in the top ten and never in the top five.

Y&R: Josh Griffith steps down as head writer

It’s noted in the article that Griffith’s departure isn’t immediate. So, either he’s giving them time to interview and search for his replacement, or that’s just PR spin Griffith and Sony worked out for the press.
I do think the writing was on the wall for Griffith though. When it was announced just a few weeks ago that Sally McDonald was taking over as sole EP, and Griffith would just “focus” on being HW, it felt strange. So, he would willingly step aside and lose power? It just didn’t make any sense. And now, just a few mere weeks later we hear he’s resigning entirely? The communication has been wonky and there appears more to the story than we know publicly.

Y&R: Josh Griffith steps down as head writer

I'm happy Josh Griffith is gone finally but won't get too excited until I know who is replacing him. I feel like the writing was on the wall for a while between Steve Kent overseeing the show and then JG losing his EP credit, not to mention JF consulting. Clearly something was going on and someone wasn't happy.
Now since I see comments about past regimes I'm going to give my defense of Sally Sussman. When she took over with no notice and no story bible or plans, it was obviously slow. With that said, the way the characters were written was like night and day. It was like a snap of the fingers and everybody was suddenly written in character again. I do think with time she developed a strong show but it was just too soon to fire her. She didn't even get a full year if I remember correctly.
I feel like if Mal Young had worked with her instead of firing her, they could've been a dream team. His punchier story ideas mixed with her knowledge of the characters and tone of the show would've been magic. I just think it's a shame they didn't give her a full two years.

Another Life

Lois Robbins made this allegation in the "Ryan's Hope" book. She claimed that individuals kept approaching her to join their prayer circle. She would reply that she preferred to pray in private. Then one day, she casually mentioned to someone that she was Jewish, and the very next day she was fired.
Again, she makes the claim in the "Ryan's Hope" book, which you may read for yourself.
