I find it best not to look at soap actors' social media pages. It ruins their appeal for me when I do. I wasn't a fan of hers so no big deal, but I know a lot of soap actors are truthers and I just don't want to be disillusioned.

Erica did get a couple of tongue in cheek mentions when Sydney's old flame, Jackson Montgomery made crossover appearances (Sydney snarkily referring to Erica as, "Whatshername").

But to your point, my gut reaction was no way. However, the more I consider it, I think it could have worked for a matter of months, like Rosemary Prinz's favor to Agnes Nixon back in 1970. I immediately thought of the rumored Alexis spinoff from Dynasty and how that would have crippled the parent show. I don't think Our Private World did much damage, while we certainly wouldn't want anything resembling Texas Iris for Erica in The City. But I like the idea of Erica back in New York mixing with Olga and Tess in the modeling industry, dining at Nexus... And the reboot proved what we always knew, that Erica is one of many inimitable PV personalities and the story holds up just fine with her in absentia.

I love Morgan Fairchild and I loved Sydney Chase, so no regrets, but perhaps Susan Lucci would've been the better way to go. One never knows, I mean look at the dud that was the Rae Cummings parade. Star power can only get you so far with tepid storytelling.

I'd never seen Gwyn #2 in action except for a few episodes here and there.

For viewers who saw the show in full..how did her Gwyn differ?  I've heard when the original gwen came back..that it was jarring at first...how so?

Plus in the Ava battle... Roya's Ava was an Erica clone...and Lisa's Ava was more Scarlet O'hara....plus I think Lisa matured Ava especially in the final months of Loving...imho

From what I've seen of Christine's first run as Gwyn, she was more of a camp bitch, albeit one with vulnerability. Savage's Gwyn was pluckier, with a more visible heart of gold. It's like the two versions of the "tough gal" in a '40s movie. There's an episode, dubbed in Italian, where Savage's penniless Gwyn walks the streets to "Another Day in Paradise." Savage's Gwyn was pals with brassy sidekick Norma - Tudor's Gwyn never would have done either of those.

I think Roya and Lisa were both excellent as Ava, but Roya's Ava was more internalized, colder to the world. I wish more of the episodes she had filling in for Lisa were available.

I love hearing anything I can about this show. Like James, it's always fascinated me and I've wanted to watch the full run. I watch whatever I can on YouTube. It's been nice to have the Loving murders. As well as the first week of The City to watch.

I was always bummed SoapNet never aired it.

Excellent point, lol.  It wouldn't have been enough just to transplant Erica to SoHo.  The story needed to be there as well.

Not long. I can't remember if I ever saw her. She was supposed to be more blue-collar.

The star power wouldn't have been as prominent for an Erica crossover by 1995, so the writing definitely would have to be top notch.

The Rae Cummings parade was just stupid, because many ABC viewers likely had little idea who Linda Dano was, unless they were big Attitudes fans (a show that had been off the air for a decade) and then she would breeze into each town being unpleasant and having all this history no one had ever seen or heard of. This is also how the sperm/sexual assault story with Liza and Adam ended with him being put in stocks and getting a pie in the face. Shameful.

    • I honestly don't care if Laura is friends with Sonny.  She's been friends with him for decades.  The way she goes about the friendship is stupid.   She has no sense of self-preservation or awareness about the optics of parading her friendship with Sonny around town.  She practically celebrates it.  There's no reason in the world she can't just keep the friendship low key and explain they share a grandchild and frame the relationship that way.  A lot of Laura's choices, like getting into a public fight with Dalton, just make her look silly and like a fairly incompetent mayor. Carly is another PC lady that's starting to look silly.  I know she's explained her plan a lot, but it's still stupid and moving at a glacial pace.  If Joss is 45 by the time her revenge plot unfolds, what's the point?  Just dump Brennen and move on please.
    • On that same note, it's astounding to have mobster Sonny in the same office with Mayor Laura chatting it up about their mutual grandson. Think about the reaction if John Gotti and Mayor Eric Adams had a friendship

?? I guess the Logic behind Sonny & Jason acceptance is like when i saw a documentary where FBI agents said they'd rather deal with the mafia than terrorists or cartels---they're the "lesser of 3 evils". Anyway I'm about 30 years late on this convo.
    • Im confused. Does Jessica know anything about June's relation to Tyrell? At the start of the episode, it seemed like June was gonna slip that he was her son but she caught herself but later in the episode she referred to him as "my boy" and Jessica had no reaction like that wasnt a surprise to her No, Anita was putting money in the account every 6 months but we werent told how much was in it when Leslie became a beneficiary. The show has set it up that it was multiplying based off the interest so that its really worth quite alot now. I dont buy it but thats what they've told us
    • What was the point in Lori's return as Mrs. Max Hollister? That little story never made much sense to me.  Were there plans for a permanent return? Or even a new family with her as the matriarch?
    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.
