@slick jones there are some names on here you may not have. @NothinButAttitude this is another Rick episode if you wanted to see more of him.

It feels like Loving tends to pour rather than rain when it comes to uploads - a few pop up right around the same time, then nothing for ages.

I haven't seen much of this time period...sometimes I forget Ann was still around by this time. I wish we'd seen all of her bitchfest with Gwyn. I just love watching Gwyn in these days, as Christine Tudor is such a force of nature. Only GL came close to having this type of vibrant anti-heroine around this period of time.

Perry Stephens was such a beautiful man.

Always nice to see a little of Colleen Dion, one of my picks for most underrated soap actors.

I never cease to be amazed at how good Loving looks, even on a budget - moreso than many other soaps around this time. They must have had a talented design and visual team.

So did Loving have a beauty credit around this point? (I wish soaps had never done away with those)

The truth is, a team that's talented and dedicated to putting on the best show possible could work even with NO budget if they had to.  If today's soaps look crappy even next to "Loving," then it's because they have people in charge who gave up a long time ago or weren't that talented to begin with.

Wow. This is Steve's death storyline, isn't it?

Not sure if @juniorz1  comes here anymore but they may want to see this clip.

Nicole Orth-Pallavinci - wasn't she the last Melinda on OLTL?

Jacqueline Courtney credited as "announcer." So I guess she must have made some intro for this episode?? Wish we couldn't heard it. This was after her gig as a madam, right?

Thanks for all of these LOVING episodes! It was the little soap that could. We have to remember that the show had a different EP and head writer every year it was on the air! How the crew and cast managed to keep things going to this standard is remarkable.

My guess would be that LOVING had a budget on the same scale as B&B did during the period, hence the quality. Both were sold overseas and extremely popular in Italy. Fremantle handled the international sales for LOVING (as well as PRICE IS RIGHT) while the Bells had B&B. This is a guess, but knowing they were each owned by their creators, not the network, and rented one studio from the network, they were probably well-funded due to their international sales in addition to their domestic licensing fees (aka budget).

Tony had a flirtation with Ava and from what I remember he had a "mysterious past", he was a doctor or something. (Shades of Y&R's Brad Elliot?)

I liked Alice Haining and Colleen Dion as Cecelia. Rebecca Staab was kind of blant (or she just reminded me of a very bad GL era). The character could have been around for years as the show's blue-collar Lauren Fenmore against Trisha or Stacey.

    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
