Name these boards. All the positive-skewing boards I've visited, the response to these actors is lukewarm at best.

Most of these boards who speck favorable of CK is when she with the hot guy. Can we say Daniel & now Cane. Let them write something just for her people will be crying send her back to Paris or better yet she needs Daniel or Cane again. If you read people respond on other site. All they talk about Lame I mean Lane. Even Cane gets a thread by himself.

JFP sounds like she would be a great EP, until she decides to have Kay or Jill or Nikki die.

She doesn't have the reputation of a soap killer for no reason, even though I admit what you guys have been saying sure makes sense and doesn't sound that bad :lol: However, is MAB really someone who would be able to stand up to someone as hands on as JFP?

I think, in the end, the *safest* bet would be Shaughnessy (whose directing I also love) and/or Scott.

JFP wouldn't have Kay, Nikki or Jill killed off. The woman enjoys her matriarch's and bitches as long as they rate favorably in focus groups (which I have no doubt JC and JW and MTS do)...the kind of characters JFP would fire would be...

Adrian (he's be first to go, I bet JFP would have him choke to death or something, just to be rid of him)

The young group, sadly, is pretty safe. Sony is intent on making a base of youth for Y&R with a cast of untalented actors. Again, JFP works for 'the company'...as far as being a soap killer, JFP's order to kill off Frankie Frame on AW was done due to the budget, something Y&R doesn't have. Originally, Anna Stuart's Donna Love was to get the axe, but fan protest killed that idea.

JFP is a ruthless kind of EP. She takes no bullsh*t and no prisoners. I do not think MAB is suited to stand up to her but then I do not MAB is suited to be HW either. But Hogan Sheffer would be and his sense of humor is such that I could see JFP actually taking happily to him. Is she the safe bet? Absolutely not. Perhaps that's exactly what Y&R needs to get itself back together.

IMHO, today's show was well done. The big exception for me was Victoria's whining throughout the entire hour. Ugh. A woman her age has no business belly-aching about her father's marriage to her "best friend" and she needs to get over it.

Other than that, I enjoyed the show. I actually don't find Sabrina that annoying (she isn't my favorite by any standard and she's not my least favorite). And I found it kind of pathetic that on her wedding day, none of her friends showed up and her gold-digger mother is the only one there from her family. I felt kinda bad for her.

The David shocker - his announcement to Nikki! I didn't see that one coming at all. And it's good that the writers are trying to show us a different side of him today (that he's struggling with gambling), but I still want him gone. Can't stand the guy. Make him the killer of Ji Min already and send him off to prison never to be heard from again. I thought for sure that the end would be him on a plane to Las Vegas and a shot of Nikki having a riding accident....

The Jill/Katherine scenes were good. Love that they tied the younger woman/older man thing with Victor/Sabrina in with the history of these two characters. I think Jill is gonna have something to say about Heather and Adam.

Loving Heather/Adam. Glad there was NO GLORIA today. Good Show...

Y&R's had a very lazy show-runner for years now. It's time for an EP to come in that's very focused and intent of fixing the problems on this show, instead of watching them get worse or just bandaging the wounds.

I haven't really taken the time to look back through threads. I'm sure this has been touched upon. And I haven't been watching either to know if this has been reversed, but didn't Victor receive a vasectomy years ago? How is Sabrina pregnant?

They haven't explained why yet,

but an upcoming spoiler says that Victor and Sabrina's marriage hits the skids as soon as it starts. So I guess Sabrina is actually carrying another man's kid or something.

However, it wouldn't be the first time Victor had a faulty vasectomy. <_<

If it was all about the hot guy (Cane), people would just be posting about Cane - not about Cane/Lily. If they didn't like Lily, they would be complaining that they wanted Lane split up. But like it or not, Lane has a massive fan base. (Have you seen the CBS board? Every other post is "Lane this", "Lane that"...)

Personally, I can't believe anyone thinks CK is a bad actress, but to each their own.

And then Kevin would find out that Sabrina, Jana and Korbel (a hidden family) conspired to kill her when she found their picture together. :lol:

And then Michael, Lauren and Kevin would finally find a story that wouldn't be revolved around Gloria.

I like Kevin, but even I am finding both CLB and Rikaart increasingly mannered and too glib (respectively).

I think because they have no meaty material, they are having recourse to their basic instincts on how to "punch up" a performance.

As Rikaart's Emmy reel showed, IF he is given material, he can bring it...and he can adjust his performance to the material too. (Leblanc too...although I found his Emmy scenes with Shackleford both riveting and too showy).

This is my long-winded way of saying new writing and new beats need to challenge these two fine actors.

Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.

BTG: December 2025 Discussion Thread

Agree that great minds can think alike :)
In terms of Derek, I see the show doing one of two things based on the most recent episodes that featured him.
1) They do the gradual fade-out of the character until he stops appearing and is occasionally mentioned by Jacob (i.e. still living and existing in town, just not being seen). We saw some evidence with him having a group of co workers he's friends with, plus a female co worker interested in him... so possibly we see him regain his walking and go back to his life with the Fire crew and eventually we stop seeing them on air.
2) His mentioning to Jacob that he hopes to win Ashley back signals that perhaps the dark side we saw glimpses of has been hidden and will rear itself if she appears to be moving on with a new guy.
In terms of Ashley, the show seems committed to keeping her character on the show especially since she was shown in the Thanksgiving episode having a quiet day with Jan and Mona as they discuss Black Friday shopping, food, and other day to day matters... so I think delving into her backstory in terms of who her father is would be a good place for the show to go while keeping her as a good friend to Naomi, Shanice, and a good nurse during medical stories.
Perhaps one of the children of the handsome new doctor could be her love interest down the line.

Re: 1978. I'm glad the unedited version of the episode complete with commercials is available. The one that has been posted several years ago had several segments missing. I like Barbara's long hair here. Dr. Steven Farrell didn't last very long I take it since she is re-connecting with Tom (Tom Tammi) by 1979. The actor playing Steven (Phil Peters) was the real-life husband of Lenore Kasdorf (Rita GL).

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

They did actually resolve who shot Austin over a year later (it was Cyrus, as part of his hasty exit story). That was a last minute save though clearly when they forgot lol.

Here is the 70's ABC opening. The theme music "Nikki" was composed by Burt Bacharach and named for his daughter with Angie Dickinson.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.
