I completely understand your vitriol for all things Dingle, but Charity has always been one of my favourites despite the fact she is one. I don't know why Charity, Mandy, and Marlon were made Dingles in the first place, or why they didn't have Mandy and Marlon as siblings to start. Charity has always been a star all her own and Mandy/Marlon only feel like Dingles when it suits. If those three were never Dingles, it would fix the heavy suffocation of the Dingle family on the show and it would erase all the incest that ever happened between them.
However, where I do feel disappointed with this story is in them having Mac tuck his tail between his legs after being so brutally betrayed so they can have him standing by her during this trial. It makes him look so pathetic. The fact that they're going to continue hiding the truth from Sarah and Jacob, with Mac stating, "they'll cross that bridge when they have to" is such weak motivation. I also have never thought they suited one another in the first place, at least not long-term. Of course, anything is better than her potentially reuniting with the horrible Vanessa, but them being married has always been a head scratcher to me.
Part of me thinks Mac could be stifling his anger at Charity by manipulating her to stay quiet until the trial and use Sarah's eventual anger and betrayal as a scapegoat for his own, but realistically I don't think they'd let him be that complex. I do think Mac will be Sadie King's first knockabout when she returns, I just hope Mac will be free of Charity when it happens and they won't use it to uselessly villainize him by saying he cheated on her.
As for Kev, I have to respectfully disagree with you big time. I love him to death. Chris Coghill is a revelation playing him and a complete hoot. He steals every scene he's in and I can't wait for more.
