Members WillenFan21
The outdoor scenes are good but the ones that are filmed inside SUCKS. Like I hate it. The camera moves to much. On todays show that scene wtih Harley and Daisy was terrible. Also what the hell is up with the random music in the background?
Members Greg's GL
^ ^ ^ I have a funny feeling that the random music is EW's way of thinking she's "edgy" and "with it" or something like that. If so, she couldn't be further from the truth!
Members WillenFan21
Yeah this is terrible The inside scenes are the worst IMO. The outside ones look great to me. The scene with Marina and Harley that were just on right now were horrendous. The camera was zoomed in way to much on their faces.
Administrator Toups Posted March 3, 2008 Administrator Share Posted March 3, 2008 Yeah, the EXTREME close up was so bad. Also, the audio at the hospital(?) where Olivia was, you could barely hear the receptionist(?). This is like an amateur production - it reminds of some of my college class projects. Administrator Toups Posted March 3, 2008 Administrator Share Posted March 3, 2008 Okay, the songs playing in the background are very annoying.

Members Kwing42
I do sit behind a screen, just like all the know it alls, but the difference is...I do not claim to think I am a savior to the modern daytime serial. I never said I knew how to write a perfect show, prooduce a perfect show or even act on a show....I watch a show because I like it and it keeps me entertained. If you do not like it, don;t watch. I do not attempt to tell the professionals how to do their job, they are hired to do it, and they do it. If CBS and P&G were not pleased, they would make changes. So, plain and simple...I guess bitch until your hearts content if it makes you feel better. But until you back up your bitching with action...real honest to God action, its just empty. Members UKBoi
People are allowed to have their opinions, and to be honest there isnt any way you can say that what GL is transmitting right now is of any other quality than amateurish. Obviously this is a learning curve that Wheeler and GL will have to grow into, and I have every faith that in a few months time the show will look a lot better, but this is a board that features intelligent discussion where (for the most part) people respect the opinions of others even if they don't agree with them. You might not agree with the negative views of GL's new production model, but nobody is shooting it down... I'm sure everybody here wants the show to succeed for the good of the genre as a whole, as losing GL would be a big blow to daytime (especially given the fact it looks more and more likely that DAYS will be gone next year), and I think the reason people are so down on this new GL is because we expected something better, we were led to believe this was going to look like The Hills or Laguna Beach and instead we get something shot on a home video camera, with an opening sequence many of us could make ourselves. These are just teething problems that we hope will improve, but you seem to just want to shoot anyone down who voices an honest opinion on it... right now, it does suck, there are some annoying aspects and there are some creases that need ironing out. It takes a lot to get used to considering everyone is used to something so different, and as someone said earlier in the post, it looks like a college project right now. What I dont get is how your post is constructive in any way to the issue...you're just shooting down anybody who has an opinion that's different to your own. You just said if you dont like a show, dont watch...well if you dont like this topic and what's being said, then take your own advice and don't read it. Members Kwing42
I guess I just hate negativity. I guess that is a bad thing to try to avoid it. I guess it is better to sit and bitch and complain instead of doing something about it. I guess it is better for some people who think they know everything about producing a show to sit here and bitch and not apply for a job to fix it. I guess it better for people to admit they do not even watch a show, but yet take the time to beat on it and kick it a little more. I guess I do not understand hate..plain and simple. I apologize for taking a positive tone...I will refrain from doing so and let the know it alls take control with their hatred and vile comments. I should know...positive factual comments are not allowed on this board. Keep watching the show you hate! It does wonders for your health!
Members UKBoi
Nobody here is hating, it's through love for the genre and wanting the genre to succeed in these times where soaps seem doomed to failure is what's prompting these negative reactions. It's all well and good sitting back and being positive, hoping that something miraculous is going to come along and make these mundane shows reflect their glory years again, but how is that meant to happen when people sit back and accept the drivel they're being given? If we dont stand up and voice our opinions, nothing is going to be done to make these shows improve again. There are people out there with real passion for the genre, people on these boards put hours of their time into writing amazing fanfics that are better than what's on the air, there are whole communities devoted to online soaps that people create by themselves that show fresh takes on the genre that are the bolt in the arm that TV execs need if they're going to make soaps a viable genre in the future. If you read my previous posts in this thread and other related threads, you'll see just how optomistic I was about this new GL format, but it's been a let down so far. Now it's only been two days, and I'm pretty certain it's going to improve, but right now it's just not good enough to compete with what else is out there on TV right now. How are people meant to be optomistic that things are going to get better when we've seen very little to convince us that the daytime genre is going to improve? Brian Frons' gimmicky money making tie ins and stunt casting may garner a little publicity, but any new viewers to the ABC soaps will be most likely put off when they see the ladies of Fusion dancing around a pole in front of a huge cover of Kendall's book that is an obvious advertisement, instead of real gripping drama. OLTL may be delivering the goods, but ABC doesn't seem to care as it's always the redheaded stepchild that nobody wants to know about, while GH is blowing things up and killing people off left right and center for stunt stories that have no real effect on the long term show and serve only to destroy legacy characters and core families while putting an unhealthy reliance on the mob storylines that the majority of viewers are tired of. Sure, it has a great cast of talented actors, but they're not being utilised. CBS is the most stable network for the soaps, and the only one that seems committed to keeping the genre vibrant and flowing, but right now things are bleak. GL is taking a risk that will most likely pay off in the long run, but right now it's got so many rough edges that need smoothed out that its hard to see how this can be taken seriously as a long term vision for the show and daytime in general. People have the right to their own opinions, as do you, but what your are posting is not constructive in the slightest.
Members Chris B
Kwing, I've observed you hating for years now. Not commenting on what you think of GL, but attacking fans for disliking the show. If you like it, that's GREAT. Post in the weekly thread about what you like. I don't see that happening. You are totally negative, yet you hate negativity? Puhlease!
Members Kubla Khan
I've never liked Ellen Wheeler. She's as pretentious and stuck up as they come, and boy, does this "new look" prove it. She's trying to be all "hip" and "edgy," making GL seem like some kind of mini-movie, when in reality, it's coming across as some shoddy, experimental student film worthy of nothing more than a D+. I am literally embarrassed for the cast of crew of GL. The camerawork, the editing, the audio, the music...it's all so horrendous. It's not a "cohesive" production at all. And it's bad enough that they need to pimp themselves out. Nearly every shot screams "Look what we're doing that no other soap is doing!!! We're so realistic!!!!!1111" For instance, was it really necessary to get a shot of Josh's arm IN the refrigerator on Friday's show? I wasn't expecting much, considering Ellen Wheeler has no talent as a producer, but I can honestly say I didn't expect something this bad.

Members Adam
Complete word to your post. I turned the show on today just to check it out, and the first scene I saw was Lizzie and Jonathan having a sex romp, it was like a Paris sex tape, only with lighting...... but that aside, the production values were pretty much identical. The outdoor scenes are nice, but the mics pick up everything and you can hear an echo too, its almost as if this is an undercover investigations with mini cams and everything. I at first when I heard about the new technique I expected it to look cheaply done, because their budget has obviously been reduced to nothing, but I saw it better this than going off the air. After seeing it, I think maybe it is time to go off the air. AMC's shakey cams were bad enough, but if they had to resort to something like this... I honestly can say I wouldn't probably stay invested in the show. I saw better productions in high school made by students with a camcorder. It just was bad.
