I'm just thankful she didn't become a Stamp.)

And, I'll never forget in the summer of 1999 when AMC announced the new character of "GREENLEE SMYTHE!" People on the board I was posting at the time, including myself, were all like "What the fuck is THAT?!"

R. Sinclair mentioned "Taylor Roxbury-Cannon." Such an over-the-top "aristocratic" name, but so perfect for the character.

Gabrielle Medina - OLTL

India von Halkein - GL

Lauren Fenmore - Y&R

Brian Bodine - AMC (such a masculine name yet reminds me of "Brian Boitano")

All My Shadows commented on shows that used the same names. On long running shows,it can become difficult to keep coming up with appealng names,I guess, especially when writers change and don't know(or care)about history.

Bill Bell did repeat a lot of names ,which is interesting considering Y&R had a fairly stable cast and one person in charge. Some examples:

Brad Eliot/Brad Carlton

Chris Brooks/Christine Blair

Michael Scott(Julia's lover)Michael Crawford(Jill's lawyer/lover) Michael Baldwin

Kevin Bancroft(Nikki's 2nd husband)Kevin

Barbara Anderson/Barbara Harding(April's twin)

Matt Miller/Matt Clark

Scott Adams/Scott Grainger

Iris Cory Carrington Delaney Bancroft Wheeler (AW)

Felicia (Fanny Grady) Gallant (AW)

Donna Love (AW) <-----this one always struck me as pure soap, I mean 'Love' as a last name? Also ironic because of how everyone slept with everyone else's husband in that family.

What do you think are the most used names on soaps?

I would say Steve/Steven for males and Sara/Sarah for females. It seems every shhow, past and present ,has used these at one time.

These Marland creations for ATWT are wonderfully androgynous:

Connor Jamison Walsh

Taylor Baldwin

Not sure about this one:

Sierra Estaban (IIRC, Marland began in mid-85, but Sierra the character started somewhat earlier than that--all the same, a great name.)

About Zarf...

I could be wrong, but it seems to me, at least, the writers were trying to conjure up David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" persona.

Unfortunately, however, it's not 1973 anymore, and androgynous glam rock is about as relevant today as corsets and powdered wigs.

Damn, I forgot all about Strata. She was the therapist who Greenlee and Tad both saw right? And she and Tad struck up a brief affair, right? I think I have an episode February 2003 where she's in the previews throwing water on Greenlee.

...and abortions that existed then no longer exist now...sorry, I just had to say it lol

Victoria (or Vicki, Vicky, and Viki) is definitely up there. Even after OLTL's Viki became a major character, soaps still popped up Victoria's, Vicki's, and Vicky's left and right. Paul is also a pretty common name, as is Natalie.

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.

    • Yes, I noticed after discovering Chandler was in several episodes. It's a shame it was canceled. I'm glad I was able to watch Chandler's episodes.
    • I'm Catholic, and I care, as do many who aren't Catholic. No need to be so nasty about it.. The whole episode was on Paramount Plus. That is where I watched it..
