Naw. No need to. I've seen it so much I can picture it in my sleep. LOL! But, RZ's version wasn't as God-awful bad as I thought. It just didn't havethe suspense I felt it should have, and some ofthe stuff in there was just downright stupid. But, at times, it told some decent story, and had a few good moments, that I just feel were outweighed by the bad material in the flick.

I will admit that I watched it the following day (the original)...not to find similiarities, but simply because it is an all time horror staple for me and I love the movie.

Now tell me, Roman and anyone else....Do any of you have various versions of the original? I have the anniversary edition and then the one my uncle taped for me from television with some added stuff.

'Halloween' Severs Labor Day Record

by Brandon Gray

September 3, 2007

Halloween was celebrated over the four-day Labor Day weekend to the tune of an estimated $31 million on approximately 4,100 screens at 3,472 theaters. MGM and The Weinstein Company's remake of the seminal 1978 slasher claimed the highest-grossing Labor Day weekend opening ever, topping Transporter 2's $20.1 million. Additionally, it posted the biggest pure horror or thriller opening of the year, ahead of Disturbia and 1408.

Among the recent spate of remakes of famous horror movies, Halloween's $26.5 million three-day start rates slightly higher than The Amityville Horror but lower than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of the Dead. The original Halloween grossed the equivalent of nearly $140 million adjusted for ticket price inflation and, while that success has never been recreated, the franchise has endured for nearly three decades. The Weinsteins previously revived killer Michael Myers in August 1998 with Halloween: H20, which sold around as many tickets out of the gate as the 2007 incarnation and its $55 million final gross would equal about $80 million today, a tally that the new movie won't likely reach.

I have the 25th anniversary dvd purchased. I debated on buying the recent rerelease because apparently the 25th anniversay Divimax edition had the coloring of the film all wrong and this dvd was corrected - but I decided against it. I also have a burnt copy of the now out of print Halloween: Extended Edition (featuring the TV footage)

From there I own Halloweens 2, 4, 5, 6 & H20. Finding Resurrection in stores has been difficult. Halloween 3 sucks ass (yet still better than the remake)

I saw interesting images in Zombie's movie, he shows promise as a director of action/horror. His storytelling needs work.

The movie was a mess. I applaud his attempts at trying something different, but the execution wasn't all that great. The suspense was gone, the only kills that stuck with me were his beating the kid in the begining, the brutal killing of Judith, and Annie's attack. All were difficult to watch, but had Annie not been played by Danielle Harris, I wouldn't have cared about her either. Laurie's parents deaths/scenes were not really needed at all. That time onscreen belonged to Laurie/Lynda/Annie. Those three girls had very little time onscreen in the 1978 version, but I cared about them because Laurie did.

Michael has never been the star of the Halloween series for me. Laurie/Jamie are. With Friday the 13th, Jason is the star. Halloween has always been different.

Young Michael in Smith's Grove was better than much of what was in the rest of the movie, his attack on the nurse, and his mother's reactions. Dr. Loomis is a joke here. Michael is his best friend? Michael is the stone around his neck that is drowning Dr. Loomis. I could deal with the changes in tone and character, but they are not explained well in the movie.
