Speaking of Raducanu, Flavia Pennetta basically say "I'ma let you finish, but..."

By the way, ratings seem to have disputed Flavia's assessment that women's tennis is harder to sell.

The WTA may not have the sheer numbers of charismatic players that they had two decades ago, but I hardly think there is some dearth of WTA players with personalities.

Funny.  I only somewhat agree, but anyone could have won this year really.  But it took a perfect draw really for Pennetta to win.  I guess Emma didn't have powerhouse players like Jarmila Gajdosova, Monica Niculescu, Petra Cetkovska, and the quarterfinals before she really met anyone (Stosur at a 22 seed - a daunting task for your first seeded player you meet - and a 22 seed at that - very tough).  While your country-woman follows a similar path, getting the benefit of a walkover injury, who then beats Serena for you in the Semis so that you get to meet the player you know the best of anyone for a final.  The only problematic player Pennetta really met was Kvitova that year.  Probably not the best comment from a one-hit wonder herself.

Emma has shown that she has skills, but I sort of agree with Flavia.  Barty, Osaka, Halep, Sabalenka, Mugu, Svitolina, etc don't seem inspired with Serena all but gone.  They let an 18 year old qualifier ranked 150 who panic attacked her way out of Wimby take the US Open.  It's embarrassing!

Folks on Twitter are jumping all over Flavia but she's not wrong.  How is the new guard letting these babies come in and clown like this?

And look at the ATP.  Norrie wins Indian Wells?  Zverev, Tits, FAA, Medvedev, Rublev, Shapo are supposed to be the names winning these tournies with an anomaly here and there.  Is this the norm?  The inspiration is gone now that the big 3 are on their last legs?

It's indisputable that it was harder to win twenty years ago when almost all the Top 10 then is now on the HOF or headed there.

Dementieva and Safina likely wish they had these draws.

I don't believe that the ratings bear out her argument about the supposed difficulty with selling women's tennis.

    • Just compared the open on Friday's episode with the first week episodes. I think the difference is that the bass line is much more apparent -- stronger and harder.

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.
