Whenever Tsitsipas opens his mouth, he believes that he sounds intelligent. Someone ought to tell him the truth.

I use to be a fan but his arrogance and cockiness is off the charts. Was disappointed Korda didn't take him out last night. Of course dad refused to sit where he suppose to. I wonder why? Duh....

Garbine out too.  Suddenly, the new guard is the old guard and Venus/Serena haven't even retired yet.  The Newer Guard is showing up and out!

Again?

The last time, she was able to get the violation cleared because she stopped taking the substance before it was officially banned. The substance? Meldonium. Sound familiar?

Initially, she was tagged with using a banned substance and challenged her suspension by claiming that, although it she still had it in her system when she was tested (and failed) her doping test, she technically had stopped taking meldonium before it was officially listed as a banned substance.

I think both Federer and Nadal (and Murray too) should seriously consider retiring, before they do more harm to their bodies. It's obvious all the years on the tour have taken a toll on them.

Murray looks ridiculous trying to play against the new generation. He was huffing and puffing so hard against Hurkacz. He took a wildcard into Winston. Lawd give it up Murray. I thought his Wimbledon debacle might have opened his eyes but it didn't. He can't compete in best 2 out of 3 but is still playing the US Open?🙄

Tennis is such a shi*show right now.  It's like tuning in to Soaps to see how bad it can get.  Someone else said something similar on this board (@soapsuds? maybe)?  So true.

Wow!  I had no idea.  Good lefty but she never really did anything big.  I guess the money from those small tournies was worth it.

Tennis has been a sh*tshow for years, it's just that the obsession with chasing records and the Big 3 or Big 4, or whatever they are has papered over this. The corporate entities in charge of the sport have been mostly concerned with which side of the bread is buttered the most than any longer term problems facing the sport. Well, you have an entire generation of tickets-selling superstars with one foot out the door, you have a game of 'hot potato' with some talented players who don't want the responsibility of taking up that superstar mantle and all the pressures associated with that (and who could blame them, really) and you have some also-rans who can snatch an occasional big title but most people couldn't pick out of a lineup of two. You have matches, of various quality, scattered among various broadcast and streaming services, with lackluster production values...you even have some long-time tennis fans rapidly losing interest, meanwhile the ATP is busy chasing down social media accounts that post...GIFs.

Otherwise, everything's great.

Fed getting knee surgery for the sake of tennis is ridiculous at this point.  I understand he and Serena love the sport and have dominated for so long but at least she's not undergoing surgeries (that we know of) to continue.

Nadal is slowing retiring.  He has played some hard tennis for a long time.  Nadal will be up 2 sets to love, 5/0, 40/0 in the 3rd and will run down balls as if his life depended on it!
