K already vaulted to number 8 in the world by making the finals...bumping Grigor down one...thought he might win this year...if K wins he will be number 5 in the world.

If Cilic wins..i hope not but Andy Murray would drop out of the top 10 if he did win....lol

Does anyone think that this will open the floodgates for other players on the Men's side? Or will this be considered a temporary blip? I heard that last time that neither Fed, Rafa, Nolé or Murray were in a Final was the 2005 Oz final between Safin vs. Hewitt. That obviously did not open the floodgates or other players challenging 'The Big 4' but maybe because Safin and Hewitt were veterans and previous Slam winners in their own right, and not 1st timers like Kei and Cilic.

Sometimes these breakthroughs lead to other breakthroughs. Stan Wawrinka's victory didn't seem to change much of the pecking order but 2 first time Finalists perhaps?

What do you think?

Wow, Kei is 8 now... what was he before? I don't think I looked for a number by his name.

It should. I love Rafa and Fed but I love new blood coming up the ranks. Kei is now on my radar but I love watching Jo, Gael, Tipsarevic and a few more. It is possible to defeat these people and I love when people prove that they can.

He was 12 in the world ..had he not gotten injured he would have been in the top 10 already IMO...

The one that surprises me is Richard Gasquet...he was stuck at 8 and 9 for the longest time but having average to poor results and lost early in the us open and had lots of points to defend from last year so he dropped out of the top 20...yikes.

Oh as for Kei...he was in the top 10 before he got injured and then dropped out this summer because of injury and not being able to play

...speaking of players who disrupted the 'Big 4', will we ever seen a healthy Juan Martin de Potro again??

I'm kind of curious as to how Kei's story is going over in China. I know at one time Chang briefly worked with a few Chinese players some years back, don't know what became of that. And I know that China and Japan are in a difficult diplomatic place politically.

Chang is Chinese-American, I know but I'm really curious if his coaching Kei and Kei's success is getting any mention in Chinese media?

New blood is only good if they consistently win - not "one and done" winners. Tennis is much better when you have powerhouses - the big three has been so good for the mens side. That's a reason why the women's side hasn't been that compelling.

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
