Harmon also has a package, but he doesn't talk about Flamingo Road.

Maybe Mark Harmon was embarrassed to be on a soap opera.

I consider St. Elsewhere Mark Harmon's breakthrough role and NCIS his career resurgence.

Gabe Kaplin thought he was a 70's/80's Groucho Marx. Marcia Strassman despised him. She probably wanted shoot herself having to play his wife and pretending that stupid $#*t he was doing was funny.

Pernell was in his 50's when he did this and is in shape. Most 50 something men now days are obese.

I was hoping one of the celebs would pull off Cosell's bad toupee.

Most in their twenties are probably obese...

Kaplan and Strassman, IIRC, later said that they eventually realized they were pitted against each other by the producer (Komack?). Kaplan said they reconciled a while after the show ended.

The Groucho mention reminds me of the sad story about how he was meant to guest star on Kotter but when he got there they saw that he was in such a bad way they just took some photos with him and the cast instead.

I do remember reading that about Strassman and Kotter reconciling. Komack was a known jerk. When he produced the series "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father" with Bill Bixby, Komack started writing himself more and more into the script as the Norman character and he and Bixby clashed. It threw off the father/son relationship of the plot and often sidelined Bixby.

That is sad about Groucho.

What if they had done a series of "Battle Of The Daytime Stars"?

I picture some poor middle-aged woman in curlers, clipping coupons, getting her jollies in wanting to see Val Dufour in a speedo.

Imagine the stampede at George Reinholt in his Speedo.

You know Susan Lucci would the first to get hurt. Bill and Susan Hayes would do the set side interviews.

George Reinholt, Joel Crothers, Kin Shriner, Richard Shoberg, Tom Ligon, Richard Dean Anderson would get speedo introductions.

Tony Geary would make catty commentary at all the activities.

The fall of 1981 was around the time when ABC Daytime ruled the world, so we probably could have gotten a Battle of the Network Daytime Stars.

Hosts: Howard Cosell and Joan Lunden (or Joan and Dick Clark)

ABC team: Captain Richard Dawson (alternate: David Hartman), followed by two of either Tony, Genie, Jackie, or Rick Springfield from GH, then Susan and Mark LaMura (and his fabulous caboose) from AMC, Jacqueline Courtney and Robert S. Woods from OLTL (Jacqui's there since I couldn't fit Denise Alexander in), and either Randall Edwards from RH or Lori Loughlin from Edge.

CBS team: Captain Bob Barker, followed by Dian Parkinson of TPIR, David Hasselhoff (alternates: Doug Davidson or Terry Lester) and Melody Thomas from Y&R, Justin Deas and Margaret Colin from ATWT, Sherry Mathis from SFT, and John Wesley Shipp from GL

NBC team: Captain Chuck Woolery (alternate: Regis Philbin, who had a short-lived show on the network that year), followed by Kim Zimmer of The Doctors, the Hayes, Gregg Marx, and either Deidre or Philece Sampler, all representing DOOL, Christopher Rich and Nancy Frangione representing AW, and Jim Poyner (alternate: Randy Hamilton) and Caryn Richman representing Texas.

I could picture Kin Shriner or Gerald Anthony getting plastered and making inappropriate comments. Sharon Gabet or Brenda Dickson would have a wardrobe malfunction. Charlene Tilton would be a special guest host since Dallas was hot at the time and and grope all the men.
