I think it does matter that TP chooses to live inside a glass closet, because his treatment of LGBTQ characters has been negligible across the board and a sign of a deep-seated self-hatred.

Yes! Veronica is such a crazy bitch and probably a manifestation of Tyler's mental illness. I'd say it's fascinating, but again, all characters are paper-thin. So let's start a separate Tyler Perry show thread.

Anytime TP hypes his upcoming project by saying, "It's gonna blow your mind(s)," I always respond with, "No, Tyler, it's just gonna blow."

(And I agree: we should start a separate TP thread, if we haven't already).

What I don't get is why there isn't more focus/pushback on Tyler Perry for things that deserve pushback.

For example, he owns a studio/production company yet he does all of the writing, producing, and directing for his shows. My question to him is 'Why aren't you hiring people to write, produce, and direct your shows?'. It would greatly improve the quality of his product if he had up and coming people doing these shows for him.

TP ran afoul of the WGA years ago after firing four writers on "House of Payne" for seeking union representation. Because of that experience, along with his claims that other writers aren't able to capture his "voice," he has vowed never to hire outside writers again for any of his projects. (Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to learn those other writers were shown the door after pushing back against his colorism and homophobia, lol).

Tyler Perry went ficore in 2009. For many years, he was known for writing all his own shows. But in 2023, starting with Season 7 of Sistas, he hired a writing team that included Jamey Giddens. (Link)

I mean, he's literally one person pushing out prime time soaps where he obviously can't deal with his own issues in his head. I'm sorry, but am going to hold the man responsible who wrote a scene where they proclaimed they're a "top"? I just can't take this man seriously and that goes for his work.
