Welcome_to_Llanview.jpg

Welcome to the One Life to Live Discussion Thread for the week of June 25th, 2007. It looks like an exciting week ahead, especially as far as Viki, David, Dorian, and Clint are concerned. Hope you enjoy your visit and are prepared to discuss the interworkings of Llanview, PA and OLTL. If so, then you're in the right place.

So let the discussion of the good, bad, and ugly that is Llanview, Pennsylvania & One Life to Live begin...

I liked it too, though they spent more time talking about the most boring characters on the show than Natalie's career change.

My only complaint about today is Marty and John, and that they were the subject of the scene between Miles and Natalie.

Viki, David, Clint and Dorian were quite entertaining and the scenes with Blair, Chris, Todd , Sarah, etc. at least moved that dull story forward.

Nice to see Lindsay again too, but I prefer her as bad 'un.

I really enjoyed David today. He is really great.

Tika Sumpter and Layla deserve a story. I think she is a fine actress, and the character, if written well could bring some well needed spunk to Llanview.

Loved Blair talking about Todd, and I really like Cris and Blair as friends.

The actress who plays Sarah is good. Let's not drag this out for a year though. I hope they bring Sarah and Todd home.

I loved the entire show with the exception of John/Marty. I just find Marty so boring and she just brings everyone down that she's in scenes with.

My favorite was Viki/Clint/David/Dorian. OMG they were so funny and I couldn't help but love Viki's little revenge she is going to give to Clint and Dorian. It's about blasted time. Can't wait to see more of Viki/David and how its going to go with him living at Llanfair.

The scenes with Lindsay, Rex and Marcie were sweet. But I think my favorite part was between Rex and Marcie when they were talking about the candles and cake. Too cute.

The actress playing Sarah isn't that bad. I actually like her.

a) Evangeline is still in a coma because she was in Cristian's house when it was gassed by the OPP arsonist (the arsonist is Tate, not his father Kirk). I'm sure you heard about Renee's contract negoations, and there's no plans for her to come back as of now (or a recast)

B) Todd went to go look for his baby w/ Margaret in Chicago thanks to a letter Miles gave to him written by Spencer. He went looking in a bad place where he was stabbed. Todd was off screen for about 6 weeks, and we recently seen him lying in bed, with two characters Sarah and her bf Hunter knowing where he's at. Sarah just called Blair to let her know where Todd is, and Blair is leaving to Chicago now with Cristian to find him. We still don't know who stabbed Todd either.

c) Lindsay has been working with the police & Bo to have a gallery for all those who were victims of the OPP arsonist at her gallery. Besides that, shes been babysitting Tommy a lot, and recently celebrated Jen's birthday with Marcie and Rex. She also at one point, there were hints of her being interested in Bo, and I think that may come about since Paige is leaving soon.

d) John and Marty are not together as a couple. Marty and Miles married because he blackmailed her when he found out that she killed Spencer (or thinks she killed Spencer). John has been helping Marty since she finally confessed the reason why she married Miles and that she thinks she killed Spencer. John doesn't believe she killed him, and is trying to find the real killer. They are not together as a couple, but I think they could be good together.

I agree!! I would love to see a story with her, that's centered around her... hopefully something that doesn't involve the romance with Vincent (which would be done half @ssed anyways, because Natalie's not involved.)

Sarah I can give or take, not fond of the character in the first place... so, I hope they do something more interesting with her than a romance with Cristian. He's reminding me of Kevin and the Cramers, if he shacks up with yet another Buchanan female. I can do without the Blair and Cristian friendship, there's something about them that rubs me the wrong way.

Marcie, Lindsay, and Rex together were a nice change for all the characters. I hope they continue to do things like thiss, because they need to do more than deal with the teen, Bo, and Adriana/Tate.

I miss Tess. I like Jessica and Nash. They are very sweet, and I can't tell you how happy I am that Jessica and Antonio soon (I hope) will be history.

But I really miss good ol fun-lovin Tess.

Boy the OPP story is on the fast track. I do wonder what caused the sudden change of heart about that story. I never liked it, but it is on the fast train now.

I really have come to hate the Rex/Adrianna/Tate story. OLTL has bothered me for the last four to five years because all the women are weak victims. When Rex said today, ohhh, please watch over Adrianna, I thought, in what Century were these women created. That and the return of whiney Jess.

Oh well, I miss Tess.

    • See, I imagine it as some kind of "private" room within a bigger casino.
    • I like Nicole for several reasons, she has all the good attributes and qualities of a good person. You have to be a huge hater to dislike someone like her. I consider Dani an underdog. She had a lot to live up to and she hasn't contributed to the family name imo. Naomi and Martin seem to had more flourishing careers than she has.  She might've had a long marriage, but Bill cheated on her left and right. I am sure they had some good times, but I wouldn't call it a great marriage or anything to brag about. She modeled for what 2/3 years? That's not that successful, especially if she didn't pivot to something more lucrative. And that is the real reason she plays momanger cause she is living through Chelsea. Dani is nothing without her family name. Nicole doesn't need the Dupree; she made her own mark! And that's what you should do when you're born with privilege, flip that [!@#$%^&*]! The opportunity is there for the writers to play up her insecurities and resentment issues, but will they? There must've been a reason for her to choose Bill over someone with more status, or coming from another wealthy family. Right?  I don't expect everyone to understand her, but I do, and probably would've made her a more screw up and didn't amount to much outside having some kids.  The lack of crossover from the in-laws always bothered me, too. I hope at some point we get some family dinners. I know it's not earth-shattering entertainment, but I'm a sucker for those scenes. And you can still move the story along, too! I forgot all about my boo Jacob, and he was on today. He, for some reason, reminds me of Garfield the cat!

You're right about that hetero bio son Dupree, though.
    • The casino set needs to be upgraded or needs to go. Why would anyone rich spend their time in the wood paneled 1960’s room instead of just playing cards in what I assume is the normal nice looking casino area.
    • It wasn't his first appearance, though; per the end credits, he is a principal guest star (a.k.a. recurring).
    • Vanessa was flirty with Smitty, and it was weird. Smitty didn't think anything about it was cute or fun. The sex talk between Cody and Vanessa at Orphey Gene's? Also weird af. We needed either a longer scene or another scene to make any of that work. Vanessa is coming off like a nymphomaniac. Forced for plot convenience, just as it was when we saw Eva (HUH???) in that casino backroom. Sorry, none of this casino stuff works. I thought the same thing -- I enjoyed all the different character groupings, but the dialogue was not natural and didn't flow. Yep, kinda weird. I don't get it. Of course, I also don't get the discussion of not having Doug as the surgeon. Is he the only doctor anyone trusts? Then we have June's entire heart procedure talked about, performed, and over within 20 minutes of screen time. -- Cady McClain gives us a different variation of that accent every time she appears. The dialogue between Pamela and Dani is too cute by half. -- BTG, please stop mentioning Martin's run for the presidency. -- I hope we're not going to see Ted soften towards Dana and be taken in by her line of bull. She just blew up his life, and I don't want to see him sympathize with her in any way.
    • Agree.  But I would describe him as being disappointed not bitter.
    • >>><<< Great minds!  Kat certainly does prove that point. She's been given a lot to work with, so we shouldn't be bored of her anytime soon. I am interested in all her storylines at the moment, and curious how the show will use the affair to impact her romances and business stories. Well, what movie was it? Cause… I noticed it too. The first couple of seconds of the song were slightly different. OMG! Great call, precisely the same situation.
    • I think Kin was dissatisfied at GH in as much as Scotty had been pushed aside for Luke/Laura and the writing was doing him no favors as Scotty was now seen as an obstacle to their romance. So with his contract up he was offered big $$$ to move to Texas, which you can't blame him for. In addition to the money, I recall he was promised that Jeb would be a more dynamic character than Scotty. The money came through but not the story, so  don't blame him for being  slightly bitter.

    • A random thought - June is related to Hayley AND Tyrell and Samantha. Hayley and June are sisters separated when young. Years later June's children Ty and Sam end up being adopted into the Dupree family, coincidentally giving Hayley a further link to that family.
