Lots of juicy stuff here, care to speculate? I highlighted the big stuff!

From Canadian TVG:

TV Guide has the full report on what happened before and after the

Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out — and it's juicy!

If you thought the 34th Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards telecast was

shocking, just wait until you find out what happened at the SoapNet

shindig, the Emmy gift lounge, the CBS and ABC after parties, as well

as the chaos on the red carpet leading up to the award show. Luckily,

TV Guide was in Los Angeles to bring you the scoop - whiplash sold

separately.

*Does Alex Trebek have a thing against his Canadian heritage? Any time

we approached the Jeopardy! host about Canada, he recoiled. What's up

with that? The Emmy winner did the exact same thing last year!

*Since NBC barely scored any Emmy nominations, the cast of Passions

and Days of Our Lives were sympathetically invited to party with the

CBS stars at the network's celebration after the telecast. As Stephen

Nichols (Steve, Days) told us, "Who knows how long NBC will be the

soap business?"

*General Hospital's Emmy winner Genie Francis (ex-Laura) informed us

on the red carpet that she may be returning to TV, but not necessarily

daytime. "I have some irons in the fire," she said. "A possible

TV-movie and another interesting role, but I would still return to GH

if they ever get around to asking me!"

*Did The Young and the Restless' Christian LeBlanc (Michael) come out

of the closet when he won the outstanding lead actor award? No one is

quite sure what to make out of his acceptance speech, which was

incoherent at best.

*Ellen DeGeneres told reporters that she'd like to invite Rosie

O'Donnell to be a guest on her chatfest. "I'd love to have her on

show," she said. "Anytime she wants to come on, she can. I'm just

going to sit back and let her talk — because I'm not going to argue

with her!"

*When TV Guide asked Bob Barker what he thought about Rosie

O'Donnell's campaign to replace him on The Price is Right, he told us,

"My friendship with Rosie goes back years and years. She certainly

knows the show! So as far as doing it, there's no doubt in my mind

that she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I

don't know. I've never heard that. As far as I know, they've only

auditioned men. Although I do believe they're going to have a meeting

with Rosie."

*Emmy presenter Vivica A. Fox wore up-and-coming Canadian designers

Brazen Hussy to the gift lounge. "I love their clothes; I'm buying

several of their outfits in different colours," she told us. "They

have a fierce line — and how can you not love their name?" As for the

rest of the loot she collected, she opted for all the fashion options,

especially the bling-bling. "Sparkle is my middle name," she said with

a laugh. As for returning to daytime, Fox told us, "I'd love to come

back and do a short-term role on a show like The Bold and the

Beautiful. I never look down on daytime." As for sitting down on one

of the chairs of The View full time, she told the press later, "Never.

I'll go on the show to promote my work, but Star Jones is one of my

best friends, and that would reek of betrayal. I'm a loyal friend and

would never even entertain the notion."

*Constantine Maroulis (Constantine, B&B) enjoyed his first Daytime

Emmy ceremony — though many doubt he'll actually be nominated for an

award anytime soon. We hear the soap's top brass immediately hired an

acting coach to help out the former American Idol contestant. Maroulis

was proud to be wearing Lucy Kilislian's cufflinks from her Toronto

store, Barclay Jewelry. "They're awesome," he told us on the red

carpet. "Lucy's very talented; Canadians know their bling." Kilislian

also outfitted nominee Lesli Kay (Felicia, B&B) with a beautiful pair

of diamond earrings worth thousands of dollars. "I didn't win an Emmy,

but I got to feel glamorous thanks to Lucy," said Kay, who later

invited Kilislian and TV Guide the next day to her house to celebrate

her son Alec's second birthday.

*Erika Slezak (Viki) confirmed to us at SoapNet's party that Canuck

Nathan Fillion (Joey) will be back on One Life to Live for two

episodes to celebrate their 10,000th episode. The six-time Emmy winner

was "over the moon" that headwriter Dena Higley was fired and that

staff writer Ron Carlivati took the reins of the soap. "He better

write me a big story and romance, because I was rooting for him to

land this," she said with a laugh!

*Supporting actor nominee Dan Gauthier (Kevin) is coming back to OLTL

as well for the anniversary show, but he told us he wasn't sure if he

would ever return to the show full-time after he was unceremoniously

fired last year.

*Which multiple Emmy winner and soap diva told TV Guide that she hates

her executive producer?

*We're big fans of As the World Turns' Austin Peck now. At the SoapNet

party, the hunk actually impressed us with his take on soaps. Most

noteworthy is the fact that the camera does not do this man justice —

he's so gorgeous in person it was actually unnerving to stare at him

for as long as we did. Ditto Days of Our Lives star Brandon Beemer

(Shawn).

*Which soap star was obsessed with applying make-up at the SoapNet

party to hide the bags under her eyes and stressed-out skin? She was

unsuccessful each time.

*Barbara Walters could use an acting coach to teach her how to be a

graceful loser. The View creator, producer and host was not happy

after losing to Ellen DeGeneres. In fact, at the Emmy dinner we spied

Babs scolding an invited guest who simply approached her to take a

picture, saying "not to bother me!" Somewhere Rosie O'Donnell is not

surprised!

*Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson told TV Guide at the SoapNet party

that, "I need to remind myself not to call the actors by their

character names when I host the Emmy red carpet! I've been watching

daytime for so long that these people feel like family." As for what

to expect next season on Grey's, she said she just hopes that "I get

more screen time than I did this past season." We second that! As for

whether Grey's jumped the shark this year, the diplomatic star would

only say "it's a matter of opinion."

*Passions' Galen Gering (Luis) shocked us when he informed us that The

Young and the Restless was interested in him taking over the role of

Nick Newman if Joshua Morrow left the series. "But I'm still stuck on

Passions for now; they'll never fire me, despite my efforts," Gering

said with a laugh.

*Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee, AMC) was thrilled to catch up with her

old daytime pals this past week, telling us, "I have no plans to come

back to soaps yet. And no, Bob [Guiney, her husband] and I are not

planning on having children just yet either."

*Y&R's Thad Luckinbill on becoming a father with new bride and

co-star, Amelia Heinle (Victoria), on Nov. 11: "My work is already

done!"

*Days of our Lives star Martha Madison (Belle) kept reminding co-star

Brandon Beemer (Shawn) not to forget his Emmy tickets, but in the end,

it was she who needed the reminder. She ran home to get them, just

making it in time for the ceremony. D'oh!

*Moments before the Emmy telecast was to begin, the fire department

came in to shut down the red carpet because General Hospital's John

Ingle (Edward) had passed out from heat exhaustion.

*Which big soap star told TV Guide she's leaving her soap this year —

and that no one has a clue except for us?

I was wondering if Genie's return would bring back her passion for acting. She said she was pretty much retired when GH came calling for her sweeps run. I'm excited for her furture. She is a good actress, she deserves to work if she wants to, even if GH doesn't want her.

Who could that be? Also, who is the multiple emmy winner than hates her EP? I'll say Kim Zimmer for number 2. Maybe it's Erika Slezak that hates her EP.

That speech by LeBlanc was odd.

Yeah, I thought either Zimmer of Slezak when they mentioned the multiple winner hating her EP. I guess it could be Heather Tom.

I am so glad that Dan G. made that comment. I'm sure he was asked if he would come back by the mag. Good for him answering truthfully.

I did not understand what CJL was talking about either. Oh well, it's not as goofy as the mouse speech.

I have no idea who the soap diva could be.

I figured our chances of ever seeing HT back on OL were slim and none. Doesn't sound like DG is all that interested either. It is OLTL's loss. I guess getting back to the core families doesn't include Kelly and Kevin unless they recast.

I put my money on Melody Thomas Scott. She finally gets a story, and it is character assassination. And they unceremonious (REALLY unceremoniously) fired her husband.

I'll bet she plays out her contract and then vamooses without negotiation.

Only to wash up on B&B :-)

    • Yes, Nicole's work would be seen as important, but she's wouldn't be (arguably) a national figure.
    • Y&R 1976 Pt 4 Lance finally gets the opportunity to meet Leslié’s  husband. Laurie has told Brad she believes Lance is in love with Leslie, and Lance himself tells Brad he’s in love with Leslie’s talent. Laurie is beginning to feel  that Lance is using her to get close to her sister. ‘When Leslie has a concert scheduled in Mexico City, Brad makes plans to accompany her. But his violent headaches unexpectedly return, and he’s forced  to cancel. Brad doesn’t give her a reason, saying only that she must trust him. But Leslie recalls that he missed her last concert without a reason and presses for an explanation. Brad tells her his mother is ill, but Leslie phones Mrs. Elliot and finds her mother-in- law quite well. Lance has a business trip to Rome in the works, and Laurie again agrees to accompany him. She has told Brad that the best way to handle Lance, who is used to having females swooning at his feet, is to play hard to get, while Lance has confided to Leslie that — since Laurie is used to adoration by the male species, he will ignore her. As a result, their Rome trip turns out to be a supreme battle of wits, but, as Lance notes to Laurie, being predictable is boring. Jack, trying desperately to help Joanne become independent and self-reliant, has encouraged her to  go back to college. Brock concurs, and even arranges for Kay to lend Joanne the tuition money. But on her first day at the university she overhears Jack telling Peggy that after he gets Joanne back on her own feet, he can divorce her and marry Peg. Brokenhearted, Joanne goes home and starts eating, but she’s thwarted by having only diet foods in the apartment. So she decides to give up once and for all, and swallows a bottle of medication. Brock finds her unconscious and rushes her to the hospital. When she comes to, she tells Brock she’s going to give Johnny his divorce. Seeing the report at his newspaper, Stuart Brooks kills the story, then goes to see Joanne. She insists she doesn’t want Johnny to know what she tried to do. Stuart does, however, tell Peggy, who goes to see Joanne. Peg is overcome with guilt, but Joanne tells her she’s now decided that Johnny still cares for her because,  with Brock’s help, she realized Johnny has still never  actually mentioned a divorce to her. She declares her  intention to fight for what’s hers. Joanne is surprised when Peggy insists on taking her under her wing to select new dresses which minimize - her weight and a new hairstyle that’s more flattering  and up to date But Peggy explains. she has to help Joanne to be the best she can so she, Peggy, won’t — win Jack by default. Bill Foster is deeply in love with his wife, but. she has refused to allow him to share her bedroom since his return. When Chris explains that Liz had him  legally declared dead nine years after he deserted his family and that, to Liz, their marriage ended, Bill asks Liz to marry him again. Ironically, Sam Powers, the man Liz would have married had Bill not returned, visits Genoa City to try one last time for Liz’s hand. Bill makes it clear to Liz that he will step aside immediately if it means her happiness, but Liz quickly reveals that Bill is now a changed man and she has fallen in love with him all over again. They are remarried in their own living room and are unbelievingly surprised when, just following the ceremony, their children hand them their own luggage, packed and full, and they are presented with tickets for a dream cometrue honeymoon in Hawaii, a gift from Stuart and Jennifer Brooks, their son Snapper’s in-laws. Brad has taken advantage of Leslie’s concert tour to have extensive tests made in Chicago. Brad was, for many years, a successful neurosurgeon there, but he  gave up his practice when a patient, a little boy, died on his operating table and he then found out the ‘child was his son. The boy’s mother, Barbara, had become pregnant shortly before her relationship with Brad ended and never told him about the child, as she couldn’t use the baby to force Brad to come back to her. Now Barbara, a nurse in the hospital ‘where Brad is being tested, pleads with him to tell his wife what’s happening to him, but he insists he cannot. The specialists find all test results negative; there is no apparent cause of his blindness. He refuses Barbara’s  offer of help and returns to Genoa City alone. Leslie’s mentor, the Maestro, arrives home before Leslie and hurries to tell Brad that Leslie knows his  mother wasn’t ill but feels it would degrade their marriage if she asked him where he had been. The Maestro adds that it’s all up to Brad now. But upon Leslie’s return Brad continues his pretense and offers no information. He can'f bring himself to let her her see what’s happening to him. Chris is on duty at Legal Aid when a Mrs. Nancy Becker and her daughter, Karen, arrive, asking for help. Nancy’s husband, Ron, has been arrested, and they have no money for food or for bail. She explains that Ron was arrested for rape, but she insists he’s innocent before collapsing and passing out. At the hospital Snapper runs tests and finds that Nancy is in a diabetic coma and may be hospitalized for several weeks. Chris, sympathetic to the woman and her child, takes Karen to her mother’s, and Jen quickly offers to  care for the child. Hoping to locate relatives who can help his family out, Chris visits Ron in jail. He tells her he has no family-and Nancy is estranged from hers because of their marriage. He asks her for legal help, but Chris replies he’s talking to the wrong person - she |was once a rape victim herself. Ron is soon released, when witnesses verify seeing him elsewhere at the time of the attack. But Chris is uneasy; her intuition as a rape victim tells her he’s guilty. Ron has lost his job because of being arrested, and Chris and Stuart offer to help him find another. Jen offers to continue caring for Karen.
    • Don't know if this has been posted; however, it appears the story bible, Shadows on the Wall, has been uploaded for anyone to snag here:  https://archive.org/details/shadows-on-the-wall-1 (rough draft) AND  https://archive.org/details/shadows-on-the-wall-1/page/91/mode/2up
    • Major flaw! And that's why I said Dani would've been better off an screwed up kid (black sheep). Nicole got an award because she's doing important work. Depression is real, Mental illness is real. People are homeless and committing suicide in jails because they lack proper help. Yes, she modeled, but I mean, even Tyra pivoted into acting, talk shows, her own company, managing other models, etc.
    • I will admit to not liking John Bolger in the role of Phillip, but on rewatch, he has a really nice friend chemistry with Michael and Krista. And I think it's the only period of time where Phillip hasn't pulled Rick into some stupid scheme that ends up hurting the friendship.

You're right about everything! The casino needs to go and it's ugly! The ugliest set on BTG.
    • Jayne Bentzen is the actress who played Nicole at that point. She joined Edge the year before, replacing Maeve McGuire.
    • Wait.....Anita is an EGOT, Vernon was an important Senator, and Dani was an international model (no matter how brief, although I thought she said she was on par with Tyra Banks(or someone)...meanwhile, Nicole's some nice psychologist/psychiatrist with an award on her wall...but Dani's hasn't added to the Dupree mystique?  I don't think the writers considered ever having any Dupree be less than utterly fabulously successful  and that's actually flaw in the structure of the show.  Oh, I forgot to say...Smitty acts like she stumbled into Vanessa's Only Fans account and paid for a picture of her dirty undies before realizing it was her.
    • I watched another batch of episodes and I have a sense of dread. I fear they are setting up a murder storyline with one of my favorite characters as the victim. I don't know if that would be considered a spoiler so won't reveal the character. If that's so, i will be extremely disappointed as this person has done Emmy caliber work and would create such a void on the show.  If I'm right, I think I know who the suspect will be and I would rather the suspect be murdered.  Joel Crothers's Miles has had more of a presence with his wife Nicole and I enjoy both actors. Crothers is just so yummy and charismatic. Don't know who plays Nicole but I like their relationship.  Ann Williams has been phenomenal as Margo. Margo is desperate to keep Eliot and make April happy. Williams had a nice scene with Kibbee's Geraldine about Logan and the baby. Eliot has been so slimy and menacing but he's so watchable. April and Draper are still fighting over the baby and something has happened to April to land her in the hospital. I just keep hoping she'll kick Draper out. The man is such a pain. Raven needs to come back and sleep with him. She can liven him up. Ann Flood and Frances Fisher had a wonderfully written scene where Deborah confesses her feelings for Owen. The writing and acting for this scene was first-rate. I want more of Flood. It's good to see Fisher getting more to do. Steve and his low cut shirts have been sidelined lately. The writers are setting up a Deborah/Nola confrontation.  Paige and Brian are still pretty much an afterthought. The movie plot is coming along nicely and there was a great episode where Margo had a party for the movie at her penthouse. Still enjoying the show.
