OMG Blair got shot... WTFever, had to roll my eyes big time on that. The might as well call the room: Blair Cramer Holden Buchanan Manning's Haven and have her pay some rent. Same ol', same ol' mess with Todd and Blair yesterday, not impressed or interested in their constant merry (or in their case, horror)-go-round. Blair's threat about Evangeline being around Starr and Jack, <_< After everything Todd and Blair has exposed their children too, she has a nerve to be upset with the possible influence that she will have on them? Please... why is it always okay for her to bring her boy toys/lovers around them (Spencer was the last one, even Jack got attached to the psycho and perferred him to his father Todd,) but not okay for Todd. I wish Blair would think before she speaks, because the BS coming out of her mouth makes me want to kill her.

I have found new respect for Forbes/Nash, and a little less for Jessica. Nash was excellent yesterday with his plead to Jessica; and Jessica is just coming off as being a mega selfish b*tch to me... though I know she's not suppose to. As of now, I'm not sure I can root for Nash/Jessica (outside of the fact, that I will because I detest Jessica/Antonio), if Jessica can't at least see Nash side; because it seems like she heard... but won't listen to it. I would think, for his sake she would. He made excellent points about how it would cause him to not be a father to Brennen (and I LOVE how he comment on the name change, I don't like it when they call her Bree.)

I don't know what to say about Cristian and Evangeline, at one point Cristian is right about Evangeline and Todd, but at another... he's not admitting that what he assumed was a mistake on his part. I'm getting the feeling too, that Evangeline will be left out in the cold again and it will be about Todd/Blair/Cristian; as it seem like Cristian doesn't love Evangeline and keeps throwing it in her face. I don't like that, and it's probably better that they aren't together. I'm not liking the possiblity, if it does happen... why can't Evangeline ever get a HEA? It always ends up being about another woman.

As for the robbery at the Palace, wow... not that interesting at all. Don't care for any of the characters to begin with, so I found this part of the show to be less entertaining.

WTF is up with Clint? What a jerk! I cannot even believe he would treat Viki like that, but I suppose what really gets me is how sweet he is being to that snake Dorian.

Evangeline needs to stop acting holier-than-thou and running around town like she is a puppet master. If Cristian wants to tell Todd that he and Blair slept together, then let the truth out of the damn bag and get it over with. Why is Van so hell bent on protecting Todd? Oh that's right: she's in love with him, but is too sanctimonious to admit it. I wish someone would wipe the self-righteous look off her face, and if Blair won't do it, my money is on Layla.

LOL at the way Blair popped out of the room and spilled the beans herself!

Natalie is looking so pretty lately. I am liking the John-Marty vibe, though, I have to say!

Nice to see Marcie questioning Michael and noticing that he is always suspicious when Tommy's biological parents are brought up.

RS and KDP may be my fav. couple on this show. I love when Blair told her to lay off, and Dorian was like "Ok, I'll rein it in." LOL.

poor, poor Viki :(

I agree with all the negative comments directed toward Clint. He's been a jerk in this triangle!

Today's episode was good -- Blair ruled the episode. She's had some classic moments this week. I loved how she protested "over my dead body!" to Marty helping her. Gotta hand to it her for sticking to her guns (no pun intended, of course). And less than 20 minutes later she's up and walking and telling her ex-husband she slept with his object of affection's ex-boyfriend. Who can resist Blair Cramer?

Powerful Marcie and Michael scenes, loved it (until the John/Natalie talk, they got better things to worry about.) I hope they have Marcie do some investigating on her own, with Michael acting the way he did. I would love it if that happened, and then Marcie and Todd are tracked to the same places... only to realize that there's a connection between Todd Jr and Tommy McBain.

Finally, Talia got the upperhand on the arsonist... only to get punked again. That's disappointing, is John the only cop that allowed to solve a crime without all the mishaps?

Evangeline should have just let Cristian tell Todd, then she wouldn't have to carry around all the "guilt" of knowing it was Blair. She should listen to Cris words too about Blair and Todd, because they have some truth to it.

Wow, even shot... Blair's annoying. Suck it up and accept some damn help. And asking for Todd, yet again... why would she if she doesn't want him? She's beginning to be just as bad as Evangeline with her feelings for Todd.

If Natalie is suppose to be the one for John, how come she couldn't tell that he looked a bit uncomfortable when she mentioned the ring and marriage.

From what I got to see, I thought it was a very good show today.

Blair had me giggling a few times, she's very witty at times.

I was so wishing that Viki for once would have slapped the crap out of Dorian. And as much as I like Clint, he annoyed the hell out of me today. I hated the way he treated Viki was just beyond mean. I so want my Viki/Clint but man I am hanging on a thin line where Clint is concerned.

You cannot tell me that Todd doesn't love Blair, it was in your face today.

And I have to say that it was very nice to have a break from Jess/Nash today.

Ok I dont Clint with Vicki, she looked so hurt and I am not use to that. I say Vickie move on someone better is right around the corner. I have a new campaign Vickie and New guy bring it already. I am ready for Vicki to smile, joke and laugh with company that wants to be with her.

I will say this about Todd I will say he will always love and have a special place in his heart for Blair but I dont think he is in love with Blair anymore. Someone pointed out on another board that a part of Todd always thinks he is going to reunite with Blair but I think this revelation coming out put the nail in the coffin for now. I personally think he is inlove with two woman with two different reasons (if you get what I mean)

Clint is a complete a$$hole, I could not believe how insensitive the man has been the last few days, not even going to waste writing on what a jerk he is. Viki is so heartbroken already, no one does this pain of emotion like Erika. Monday Viki is going to really get it in the gut and I know Erika is going to bring it.

IA. Blair is like Todd in a lot of ways -- unpredictable, impulsive, they both say what they think without sugar-coating stuff. They also act out and do things they then cannot take back.

Evangeline is a little like Tea or even Rebecca; she's the "good girl" he enjoys teasing and bring out her playful side. Evangeline has always had a real thing for so-called Bad Boys -- RJ, McEmotionallyRetentive, Cristian, Todd. Even she and Spencer had sparkage. As for Todd, I wonder whether deep down he thinks Van might somehow redeem him, make him a better person.

Both actresses have massive chemistry with TSJ, it's what makes this triangle compelling for me -- so much more compelling than, say, Todd/Blair/Spencer.

Another great week for OLTL. Thursday's episode was so well-paced, it might as well have been a Friday cliffhanger! Nash & Jessica were the highlight for me. Even though the whole thing makes Jess look really bad, I can't hate her... And God, McNostril bores me with his non-acting blankness. Who is this character? What makes him tick? Damned if I know. I wish OLTL would take the leap and try out 3 consecutive episodes WITHOUT The Brooding One.

McNostrils?? LOL. I don't even watch him at all anymore. I agree that Jessica is being made to look really really bad. She is the core character and it is unfortunate that she has to be made to look bad to prop Antonio. That is exactly what is going on too. I loved the Nash and Jess scene on Thursday.

You know Cat, I'm just not a big fan of this Todd anymore. I think every actor should be allowed to shape the role a little bit like they want, but this guy is changing what to me Todd is. I expect any day now to see him wearing tights and quoting Shakespeare. It doesn't bother that Todd and Blair are both moving on. As much as I am disappoiinted that Todd and Blair fans never got a payoff after the years of torture by the Higs, it may be time for a change. I am tired of Higley triangles though. It is all she writes.

A little late to this threat, but must say this has been another AWESOME week for OLTL!! I'm impressed that they went from the heavyness of the ski lodge on Monday to Tuesday which at first I thought was going to be a slow episode and turned out to sooo not be with Roxy's robbing. Love it. And WOW to the Todd and Starr scenes at the lodge. That was as realistic as it could get without him actually hitting her! Those scenes were chilling.

I can see where you are coming from, Jess. I've been all swept up in (what I perceive to be) some strong chemistry between TSJ and REG. I haven't wanted to see the fact that they are changing Todd into a whole other character in order to basically fit this pairing/triangle/quadrangle. I cannot really ignore it anymore because, while I have enjoyed TSJ's portrayal, I also like Roger Howarth's, and he set the template for Todd. TSJ may want to make the character his own, but there are certain character traits that RH -- and the OLTL writers back in the 90s -- set down which cannot be altered.

One is the fact that Todd was a stalker and a rapist, and he was always struggling with a VERY dark side tied to that history. The other was his issues with intimacy, and that intimacy was only really limited to his close family circle. Even with Blair, there had been underlying issues regarding their physical relationship (if I remember correctly).

When today's Todd touches, strokes, kisses and holds Evangeline, it is swoony and romantic for this viewer but it also represents a disconnect. Because I guess I was never used to Todd being a horn-dog. Admittedly I didn't watch OLTL between 1996 and 2004 so I probably missed when Todd became more like that? I don't know.

And ITA about Higley's Triangle Writing. Although, hopefully, Ron Calivarti and Jack Smith are doing most of the writing now.

Re: Jess, I still like her, even if she is cheating on her husband. That's the point about infidelity, I suppose -- it's really about cheating to a certain extent. Even if Antonio is being made out to be The Sainted One, I do like how some of the writing has acknowledged Nash and Jessica's own conflicted feelings on the matter this week. Unlike the Let's-Rut-Like-Bunnies-in-a-Burning-Building-While-The-Noxious-Fumes-Swirl-Around-Us epiosde from two week's ago.

I agree that the Todd/Vang relationship is messing with character integrity. For me it's more about Vang. I can see Blair hooking up with a guy like Todd, but it's so hard for me to see Vang doing that. One of the problems with having Todd be a romantic lead is that every time the woman involved is hooking up with a rapist. I'm sorry, but I know I would never do that and it's hard for me to believe half the ladies in Llanview would, especially someone like Evangeline. I have to admit they have great chemistry and I do kind of like them together, but character integrity should mean something. There are some lines that shouldn't be crossed and Vang falling for a rapist is one of them, imo.

Clint is on my last nerve. Everyone is talking about how he's treating Vikki, but he really isn't being all that better to Dorian. He seems a little bit too smug that there are two woman who want him. <_<

I loved Jess and Nash's scenes at the vinyard.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.

    • And this came out as the "feud" and the media pushing the protests in Los Angeles got all the media attention. They know the press and the public will not care or can be manipulated into approving.

    • Hope you will enjoy the 1976 storyline from the Daytime serial Newsletter. The show had just expanded to an hour so new characters and stories were required. The Soderbergs had been writing since late 73 and the show was still #1. Looking foward to comments and discusssion Pt.1  For over two decades As the World Turns has depicted the events in the lives of two Oakdale families: the wealthy and influential Lowells and the less affluent but equally respected Hughes family. Judge Lowell’s granddaughter Ellen is married now to Dr. David Stewart, whose adopted son, Dan, is actually her own illegitimate child. Dan was once married to Dr. Susan Stewart, by whom he has a daughter, Emily. Dan then married Liz, the ex-wife of his late brother Paul. Liz was the mother of Dan’s daughter Betsy, who believes to this day that Paul was her father. Liz died tragically the day after their wedding. Ellen and David have two daughters, Carolann (Annie) and Dawn (Dee), now of college age. Dan has recently fallen in love with Kim Dixon, who was about to divorce Dr. John Dixon until injuries suffered in a tornado caused amnesia and left her with no memory of her love for Dan. John is using this respite to solicitously convince Kim of his love for her. Nancy and Chris Hughes had three children: Bob, a doctor, Donald, an attorney, and Penny, who, after tragically losing two husbands due to automobile accidents, is now living in Europe, where she is married to a racing-car driver. Bob was married while very young to Lisa Miller, then a scheming and selfish young woman, whose machinations destroyed their marriage. She is the mother of Bob’s son, Tom, who is divorced from Carol, who is now married to Jay Stallings. Tom is currently married to Natalie Bannon. Bob later married model Sandy Wilson, a marriage which ended in divorce, and Sandy is now married to Norman Garrison, who is her partner in a beauty products concern. Norman blames Bob for Sandy’s  recent disillusionment with their marriage, and, ironically, Norman suffered a heart attack during his verbal assault on Bob at a Hughes family party; and while Bob rode with him in the ambulance to the hospital, Bob’s beloved wife, Jennifer, Kim’s sister, died in a car crash while driving home alone. Lisa, more mature and considerate of others now, is married to attorney Grant Colman, but her life has been complicated by the recent arrival in town of Grant’s ex-wife, Joyce, and the incredible news that she and Grant had a child after their separation, a child Joyce gave out for adoption but now wants to reclaim. Now the story continues... The picture has now come clear for attorney Grant Coiman. He has learned that his ex-wife Joyce neglected to tell him she had a child shortly after their divorce and had given the boy to Mary and Brian Ellison for adoption. Grant, after seeing the adoption papers and considering the boy’s interests, tells Mary he feels the child should remain with them; they are providing a fine, stable home for him. Grant’s wife, Lisa, is pleased with his decision, feeling he has thus closed the door to the past and they can now go on with their own lives. But Joyce has learned that attorney Dick Martin is now back in private practice, and she tells him she was confused when she gave Teddy up years ago and wants him to represent her in a custody action to get her son back. Dick tells Joyce she has a very weak case but he’ll do what he can. He goes out to Laramie to see the  Ellisons, upsetting them very much. Grant, meanwhile, has confided in Chris Hughes, his law partner, that while his name was on the consent form for the Ellisons’ adoption, he didn’t sign the papers; he had, in fact, never known that he had a son. But he’s afraid to open a new can of worms by signing a consent form now, as that would reveal that the adoption papers are not legally correct. Grant confides the situation to Lisa, explaining that if he wanted to,  he could probably get custody of Teddy himself, but that’s not what he feels would be best for the child. Mary Ellison finally breaks under the strain of Dick’s visit and tells Brian that Dr. Paulk, the doctor who arranged the adoption, told her he didn’t know where to find the baby’s father and so he signed the consent form himself. She painfully explains she kept this secret knowing that Brian wouldn’t go through with the adoption if he learned the papers weren’t legally sound. Brian quickly calls their family lawyer, Jerry Butler, who immediately phones Grant to be sure he backs the Ellisons’ claim. Dick realizes from Joyce’s story that Grant couldn’t have signed the papers and tells him he knows. The only person who has a right to file for Teddy’s custody now is Grant; he’s the only injured party. And the moment he files, Dick can sue for invalidation of the Ellisons’ adoption. Grant finally files, to settle the custody question once and for all, but technically he's filing for custody himself. Tom Hughes and Natalie Porter are married in a small, lovely ceremony at the home of his grandparents, Nancy and Chris Hughes. They honeymoon in the Southwest and return full of expectations of happiness. Natalie is disquieted, however, when flowers arrive which are not from her new husband. She covers by pretending to check with the florist and tells Tom it was a wrong delivery and they have told her she might as well keep them. But she knows who sent them. Natalie is upset when, shortly after, Luke Porter arrives in town and seeks her out. But Luke insists he is there only to assure her this is a final farewell and he has now decided to concentrate on. making his own marriage work. Sandy Garrison, Bob’s ex-wife, is working at the  bookstore to fill in for Natalie. Her estranged husband, Norman, recovering from a heart attack he suffered during a drunken confrontation with Bob at the Colonnade Room, is still telling anyone who will listen that Bob and Sandy are having an affair, but ironically will let only Bob care for him at the hospital. His recovery is hampered by his easily aroused temper. Norman anxiously tries to persuade Dr. John Dixon to convince Bob to swear he slipped at the restaurant, thus making them liable for a costly lawsuit, but John won’t do this. Chris discovers a large amount of money missing when checking the books on the Garrisons’ business, but doesn’t want to upset Sandy with this. More to come...
