OMG, or to paraphrase: MON DIEU! - That girl playing Yvette, she was one of those bland woman on THE French soap opera serial.

Actually it must be one of THE most cheesy series in worldwide TV history. Beautiful people, beautiful landscapes, dreadful actors, dialogues which sound even stilted for French standards... A riot! Search Youtube for "Sous Le Soleil" and you should find some wonderful stuff.

OMG, how sad is it that I know Sous le Soleil?!

Went to France. Watched this show. My parents might have well pissed the money for the flight ticket down the drain!

That soap was so painted-by-numbers. BUT! It had the best production values and they filmed outdoors all the time. No offense, but if somebody asked me to act in a soap set in the French Riviera -- and move there because THAT'S WHERE THEY WOULD BE FILMING, I'd be all over that like a fly on sh!t.

Um, which one was Yvette? There was an American chick, so it can't be her. And there was Laure, the saintly doctor/heroine. And there was the sinfully young ex-wife of Johnny Hallyday (France's answer to Elvis -- except he can't sing) who played the girl in relationships with good guys but who kept having affairs with bad boys/gypsies/any dude on a motorbike.

Wonder if they still do the show?

Oh my gosh. Cat, you're a "fan" as well - I always knew you had bad taste but this takes the cake... ;):P

Dunno. When I’d been in Italy last summer “Sous le Soleil” was on TV... But recently in Germany it wasn’t. “St. Tropez” who it was also called, could be cancelled, I don’t get the gist of IMDB’s data which is pretty inconsistent. I’ve never seen much of series because it was too painful for my taste.

That chick who now played Yvette on B&B (last seen on Wednesday...) is American according to IMDB so she might have been one on “Sous le Soleil” as well. The only one I remember well is Laure who was such a gifted doctor, such a great friend and such a fabulous human being. I always wondered why she couldn’t walk on the Mediterranean? LOL!

Pardon me?! Moi, bad taste?

I watched it with my jaw on the ground. There was some seriously stilted acting going on. Not as bad as Hélène et les Garçons, though (look it up on youtube if you don't know what I'm talking about -- so cheap, the whole thing takes place on three sets: dorm room, gym, and the garage).

And  you mean TF1 sold SLS to Italy and Germany? ::stunned::

Laure = the Christine Blair Williams of SLS.

And the show must be cancelled if "Yvette" is desperately scrambling for a walk-on part on B&B.

Well, they killed off one of their heroines pretty big - seriously scratching my head if it might have been Laure - but then she suddenly was back alive. (I remember seeing the back from dead intro and it was so cheesy. How the actors tried to emote and look surprised although most of them seemed too busy tanning under the Cote d'Azur sun... LMAO!) So maybe Tonya Kinzinger (that's her real-name apparently) was also just killed off temporarily... Could be that Prince Omar now has a thing for French vixens?

I'm sure "SLS" was also sold to Eastern Europe. All bad TV series get to air, too. It's probably a way to acquint them with democracy, the freedom to watch crap on TV.

I also think "SLS" even had spin-off shot on Tahiti or so!? T'was about some divers at "Saint Martin" and equally bad...

I mentioned that soap on The Foreign Soaps topic. And in the one which discussed possible changes on B&B.

It really has fabulous production, set and costume design.

P. S. Does anyone, by the way, know what's the difference between set dresser, set decorator and set designer? I have a somewhat vague idea.

    • Yes. And I assume he met Mary Ellen Stuart at GL.
    • That's an odd coincidence. Yeah, Roger would turn anything he could to his advantage. At the time, he's just taking the pictures to bank leverage over Reva, Billy or the Lewises.  I'm kinda squeamish about 1986 episodes myself. I'd love to hear the original version of Ross/Vanessa/Dinah, but the Cain story is bad, and I don't want Billy and Vanessa to break up.
    • Eeek. I didn't know this either! I will say, though, even though they skimmed over a lot of Roger's past, I will give them props for not trying to turn him into a hero. Yeah, I was hoping we would get more 1986 episodes than were available on YT before, but now I'm wondering if I really want to see that.
    • That's what Julie Hanan Carruthers is doing for BTG at the new studio in Atlanta, but JHC is credited. And @errol said JHC is working in a nonproduction capacity at Y&R.
    • I remember when the whole Missy Reeves controversy started in 2012.  She tweeted support of a business that had made homophobic statements. Greg Rikaart (who was on Y&R back then) publicly called her out on it, but was willing to reach out and speak with her. Article here: https://greginhollywood.com/greg-rikaart-talks-about-his-twitter-war-with-fellow-soap-star-melissa-reeves-over-anti-gay-chick-fil-a-73139 That being said, ten years later, on DAYS, in 2022, when they had they double wedding of Leo/CraigWesley and Gwen/Xander, Jack and Jennifer came to the wedding.  At that time, Missy Reeves was only intermittently available for DAYS. Jennifer was living "in Boston" and Cady McClain and Missy were each intermittently appearing as Jennifer, on the specific occasions when the show required a Jennifer to appear. Missy wasn't on contract and she could have said no. But she chose to appear as Jennifer for the gay wedding of Greg Rikaart's character.   So... I mean... I would assume they reached a détente behind-the-scenes. Missy still has her belief system but there's that.
    • That was one of the best grandslam finals.  Alcaraz comes all the way back down 2 sets to 0, and three match points in the 3rd set, to win it in a 5th set tie-break.  And the quality of play was excellent - so many great shots.  What a battle!
    • Indeed. I may try to watch it in full sometime, but not anytime soon... Mark played Sean Baxter for a few episodes when Courtney married Andy. Burke was either on Broadway or at OLTL at that time, I suppose.
    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair. Mark Lewis was on ATWT? 1986 is not a good year, storywise. No bueno. Muy no bueno.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
