Another World and Days of Our Lives! Two of my faves top of the pack back then.

How in the world does Robert Kelker Kelley get on the best actor list and not Tony Geary or Rick Hearst ... or even Days fellow Wayne Northrop.

I used to enjoy reading Daytime TV back in the day. Of course, AW was my favorite show. It seems like any poll you see now is won by fanbases campaigning. Maybe it was back then too, just not in such an obvious way on the internet.

I love Tom Eplin and I was still pretty anti-Jake in 1994. Took me about five years to get over his rape of Marley.

Daytime TV's poll was always based on popularity. They never made any bones about that. Many performers even after they left their shows were still popular enough to be included in the poll long after they left.

I remember Jacqueline Courtney was off AW for quite awhile in the early 70's after she got married and moved to Mississippi. She never missed a poll in the Top 10. Even sometimes making #2 or #1. Then when she was fired from AW in 1975, she and George Reinholt continued in the poll in the Top 10. Many other performers did the same thing.

Each issue you could pick 3 actors, 3 shows, and 3 actresses, and then 3 in each of their special sections too. So it was easy to stuff it for a show, but all the shows were always represented in the polls in either the Runner's Up or Top 10.

Someone asked about Drake. He was very popular and that was what the poll was based on. I don't think the magazine lasted too long after the 90's, and I do not remember what his final tally was in issues in the top 10, but in this one he already had 83 issues (months) in the Top 10.

Because he was more popular. RKK was very popular as Bo.

Not something I've ever understood either. Drake Hogestyn and Ronn Moss are probably the two worst actors to play lead roles on their soaps, yet enjoy such popularity with fans. They've been around for so long that you'd think they would've taken acting lessons by now.

I loved the magazine but Susan Lucci always surprised me. By this time she had been on daytime for 24 years. And was quite popular, but had only been in the poll top 10 8 times in 24 years. I think I remember reading somewhere that by the time the magazine stopped, she had gotten in the teens (about 13 or 14) but that was it.

I think I remember that this #5 was her highest ever finish.

Drake the best kisser? That's hilarious!
