OLTL: Hillary's Holiday Miracle

One Life to Live Emmy winner Hillary B. Smith was fully prepared to be axed this month. After all, her coma-stricken character, Nora, was rarely seen this year and youth-obsessed ABC is firing vetern actors like mad. But get this: The network has handed her a new four-year deal and a promise that Nora's fan-pleasing b!tch-feud with Lindsay (Catherine Hickland) will be revived. Word is, they'll squabble over Nora's ex-hubby Bo. And this'll be good for laughs: Come March, Nora will be forced to move in with that ornery ol' fart Asa (Phil Carey). "When I got the call from ABC I sputtered and spewed and said, 'Are you out of your minds? This doesn't make sense!' But I'm very excited," Smith says, "especially to work with Catherine again. Baby the gloves are coming off!"

Oh, I LOVE hearing this! I love Nora and I LOVE the Nora/Lindsay feud.

Haven't we been there before with Bo, though? I hope they can keep it fresh.

I've wanted Bo and Nora to reunite ever since Sam Rappaport came between them, so I am hoping they finally get back together once and for all!

Four year deal? WOW, this is really unexpected. Good for OLTL and ABC.

This all sounds really good.

It looks like AMC is the only ABC soap that doesn't get it.

Wow. I'm stunned. I was waiting to hear news that she was fired. Thank god. Frons finally was smart.

Finally OLTL does something right. Hillary B. Smith is a treasure. Her work during the Daniel storyline was brilliant. I may have to tune in to catch Nora in action. Let's hope it's not a petty once in awhile bickering stuff though. Go HBS!

She definitely needs a STORY though. A GOOD story. Not just random bickering with Lindsay, but a story with a beginning, middle and an end.

Four-year contract sounds good though, although we all know what a contract means in television nowadays... not a damn thing.

What the heck!!??? This came out of nowhere. Well good for ABCD and OLTL for keeping her own. I wonder if Lindsey and Nora will fight over Bo and this new character that is coming on, Miles? Is Dr. Boring Paige still around these days, I thought GL was shameful for not letting Crystal Chappell out of her contract to go to OLTL but I see they know what they were doing because had CC left she would be doing NOTHING!! And at least at GL they seem committed in some ways to giving her a story.

Good for OLTL/Nora fans!!!

I am absolutely, 100% stunned! No matter how bad the show is, I'm tuning in full time once her storyline begins. Nora is my favorite character and Bo and Nora are my favorite couple. I cannot wait for this to begin!

Luckily I aquired some classic ATWT episodes which feature Hilary B. Smith as Margo so I've been getting my fix another way. She is fabulous and I'm just so stunned and excited by this news!

I'm stunned. It's one of many changes they need to make -- like strapping their well balls on and bringing back Dan and Heather. However, this is a good step and it's been a very very long time since OLTL took a good step.

I'm stunned too. Glad but stunned. Did they finally get a clue? Now they need to bring back DG and HT.

Could there be any truth to the rumors that ME was fired?

You can thank Kay Alden and Jack Smith for talking some sense into the network. Bringing those two to ABC was the best

thing that's been done in a long time.

I'm sure more of their ideas will start taking form and hopefully they'll be made headwriters.
