I agree. Not right now. But in a few months......or a year. They will feel the effects of all of these big changes they are making.

Not to mention, sub-par writing. By the usual Y&R standards, anyway.

While I agree I can see Y&R taking a hit from this...I still am enjoying the show alot and I think it is still WAY better written than most of the other soaps on the air.

I think there are other superior shows on the air, succeeding Y&R in every capacity.

For about two or three weeks now I'm totally disliking Y&R. It's boring, it's contrieved, it's absolutely not Y&R.

The writing is horrendous and not even the actors and certain storylines, let's face it, Kay & Jill is the only watchable story, can overcome that.

I was disappointed when they killed off Cassie and John, no doubt. I'm also disappointed that ED (Ashely) has been let go. However, I'm still enjoying Y&R as much as ever and it's consistantly better than any of the other soaps I watch.

I don't know what is happeneing to Y&R. I don't think all the stupid changes are at the hand of LML, but something has to give. I know people complained about Jack Smith, but he didn't make all these ridiculous changes.

*Sigh*

Could Y&R start to resemble some of the ABC shows in terms of a drop in quality by this time next year?

Sure hope not, but I'm scared. Prayin along with you, aMLC.

I won't take that long.

To some "standards" we're already there and with Kay Alden out of the door I expect nothing good at all.

Sigh!

At least B&B seems to get to its basics. I really hope Brad will turn his shown around by December so taht at least Bell soap can shine again. :(

I'm been praying for their downfall for a long time now.

I'm not worried about Y&R at all.

It's been number one for over ten years so...unless I hear that AMC's Megan McTavish

has been named the new head writer...I'm not gonna sweat it.

Y&R is a soap that actually listens to its fans. Like last year with the outcry of Jack Smith, TPTB over there knew something was wrong and did something to fix it. Unless something similar happens that significantly grabs their attention, they won't make changes. They've been #1 for 18 years, I don't see anything ever topping it at this point.

So far I am not worried about Y&R either. I stipulate so far.

For one, the changes Latham has made the average fan is not going to know about. Most fans that don't come on the Internet hardly ever look at the credits - so the backstage stuff they will never know about unless the quality of the show goes way down. That is the only time they will notice it. So far the quality has not been affected, and unless Latham changes alot from her past stints - she does produce good quality stuff. I do think she needs to quit making changes for awhile, and just concentrate on what she is putting out.

Second, she has not filled the show yet with a bunch of new characters that no one cares about. She has made very little changes in that aspect. She is working with the characters that were already in place and just rotating them around in stories. The biggest mistakes that have hurt the quality of other shows is bringing too many new characters on at one time. From reading about Days I think that is a mistake Hogan is making there. I know some of them are old characters brought in with new faces, but I think any show needs to have even those types spaced out. Latham is doing that well. I don't feel like I am watching characters I don't care about. That is one of the reasons I quit watching OLTL, because it was suddenly about characters I had no connection too. Even the Fisher-Baldwin family who haven't been around too long are not Latham creations, and as bad as I hat Glo-ho, at least I have an attachment to her - enough to hate her.

Third, I don't like Chritel Khalil and would rather have Sherwood back, but listing that as a thing that makes the show in trouble is further blowing it out of proportion. This is just my opinion but I think the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion.

Fourth, as bad as I hate to lose Eileen Davidson, at least Ashley was not seen that much right now. As long as she keeps Jack around I don't feel most fans will notice it too much. Hopefully they will recast Ashley. As much as Eileen was loved in the role, she has been successfully replaced in the past - something that vets like Julia Barr and others were never able to do. Julia Barr was replaced once, and no one accepted her replacement. That is usually the case with vets. Y&R is a show that always has had success with this. No one felt that the original Brooks sisters could be replaced, and all of them were successfully replaced except Jaime Lyn Bauer who always stayed. No one felt Brenda Dickson or Terry Lester could be replaced but now with Jess Walton and Peter Bergman - many say Brenda & Terry who. So again I don't feel that the average Y&R fan will not accept a new Ashley or even Ashley being gone. She has been replaced or gone before.

Those are just my thoughts, but so far I am not worried about Y&R.

Excuse me,

just take this Carmen murder-"storyline"... These is not just anything wrong but 50 % of totally bad storytelling for the overall show which is covered by it. I could go on but I'll leave it with hat major stinker...

The quality has suffered a lot - I was content for a while beause the new pacing had its appeal. Yet for several weeks now the show knows only one direction - southwards.

And it seems lot of long-time fans feel that way.
