Y&R: The VERY special Who-killed-Carmen?-episode

I haven’t seen it before yesterday and wondered whether it was just me. I thought it was not just totally pointless but also ridiculously stupid. I see the point the writers might have wanted to make - but it did work poorly at best.

We still know nothing certain. That would be no point of criticism in general but with “nothing” I mean that there are still no real motives given why 90 % of the so-called suspects should have killed Carmen in the first place!?

The main problem lies of course within the story itself. The murder mystery is no mystery. It’s not even a real storyline. Fell free to disagree because I really want to know if there is sth. about the whole “drivel”...

For me, the plot-narration (some may call it story...) is told/plotted on an extremely bad pacing - showing nothing important but lots of huff and fluff - no build-up at all, so far no pay-off or good drama developed from it. I just pisses me off to no extent - most ludicrous “event” of the special episode: Victoria imagining why Jana should have killed Carmen - had no idea Vickie even knew Jana so well. *roll eyes*

The story about Brad’s past proved to be a major stinker but at least it was great for the better part of it - can’t say sth. like that for Carmen’s demise. Sure, we all hated Carmen, yet everything is so pointlessly executed. Does anyone really care who killed Carmen?

I have to admit I don't care who killed her, but I don't mind this story that much either. The interesting part to me is seeing people deal with the stress of being under suspicion. Also the stress of having friends and loved ones under suspicion and having to cooperate with the investigation against them.

In general, I find whodunits on soaps a let down in terms of the actual killer. We all know it won't be an important contract player like Dru or Vikki in the end.

Agreed, but this COULD be interesting. Yet it isn't for me since we know NOTHING about the investigation. Sure, there is Will Stiffwell and tough lady cop but what have done so far. Climbing from one plot point to other - without showing us ANYTHING.

LML should watch her OWN "Port Charles" days - pronto! The General Homicide Murders rocked! This Carmen-crap on Y&R sucks!

The episode was a waste of my time, because I simply don't friggin' care who killed Carmen and it just showed how flimsy this story and the motives for killing the skank were in the first place. For the show to think that this story merited a special episode, as if it was some masterpiece storytelling, tells me that someone's smoking crack at those writer's meetings.

The only good thing about the episode was the joy of watching FauxLily get slapped!

I'll admit I was bored by this convoluted, ever meandering episode.

I would rather they stick with the regular soap mystery format and give each of the suspects some worried looks, along w/some incriminating bit of evidence that muddies the pointing finger of guilt, until, gasp...some big clue is revealed just when everyone has a different suspect.

However, I am glad the character of Carmen is dead. I hated her.

I just hope the Newmans and the Winters know just how FAR fair Phyllis(choke) went to villify Drucilla and defend the nasty Carmen.

All I want to know is who did it. IMO it would have been fine for her to be found dead in one episode and then the killer revealed the next. I just want this over. I don't care about Carmen.

Yeah, the beginning of that Murder Mystery may have rocked, but the fallout? Not. So. Much.

Friday's episode reminded me of a MyNetworkTV storyline recap. And that is NOT a compliment.

It wasn't a bad episode but it wasn't my favorite either. I did start to get bored by some of the different scenarios. And some of the motives and suspects seem really weak to me like Sharon and Victoria. The Neil and Mr. Kim scenario's did creep me out though.

Yeah, I'm barely a Y&R fan (long story) but I still semi-listen/watch, and knew it wasn't going to "solve" anything, but it seemed like a huge waste of time to me. About the only "suspect" they didn't throw out there was Gina, at the Athletic Club, with a pan of her famous lasanga.

I get what they were trying to do, but it totally didn't work.

Never saw the end of it... But you have to admit that the fall-out usually sucks with such stories. Therefore the built-up or actual story has to be good - in case of Y&R this is definitely not the case.

I liked Carmen and up to that show I liked how they were handling it. About half way through though they lost my attention. Please Y&R, do NOT turn into AMC on me!

I mostly enjoyed this episode, I thought it was fun well written episode. Of course these fantasy episodes aren't everyones cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.

I actually prefered the angle of having the characters speculate about Carmen's death instead of giving away all the secrets to why and how someone killed Carmen. I still think there were multiple people involved. Someone probably killed her in the heat of the moment, left her body, then someone else moved the body to protect a loved one.

It wasn't THAT bad. Atleast they poked fun of the "supposed" murderers and didn't take it all so seriously. I liked it.

In other words... At least they've acknowledged that the story is a JOKE!

 I know that's not what you saying, but that's my interpretation.

I came out of this episode thinking the only real suspects are: Dru, Devon, Neil, and Mr. Kim. Everyone else basically shoved her against a wall or a car, and not with enough force to have killed her unless she had a pre-existing condition that made her skull really weak. I found it interesting that Neil imagined both Dru and Devon hitting her in the head with a lead pipe. Neil used a wrench and Mr. Kim used a hammer. Are we supposed to believe that they can't tell what size and shape the object was that gave the fatal blow? Sorry, but this is the same network that airs CSI, which makes a large segment of the audience more aware!
