DAYS: Annie Burgstede (Willow) upped to contract status

I would've loved Eve to stay over this chick but, like Keith said, I guess she left because of other projects. She was very good. I don't mind the actress but I hate Willow. It better be just to play out the story because I can't take her as a long term characrer. Some sites are saying she got a 3 year deal and if that is the truth I won't be a happy camper.

I don't see Willow becoming a huge piece of Days history. If anything I see her being alot like the Brandy Taylor character from ATWT, which showed huge potential, and whom Hogan used as the victim to spark a murder mystery. This character will be used to push along story, then cut lose when she serves no purpose.

A contract is only a contract for 14 weeks afterall. And this could be so they don't have to worry about her leaving like alot of recent non-contracted female additions over the last couple years.

If they needed another blond to distract Shawn, why did they fire Julian Berlin and kill off Eve Michaels? Oh wait, she left of her own accord for other projects, didn't she? Big surprise! She was really good.

She was. I wasn't watching this summer, but the times I did see her she seemed so out of place because she had this huge on-camera personality for such a small background role.

She will be in Watch Over Me (or whatever they're calling it now) on MNTV, along with Dan Wells, Marc Menard, Marilyn McIntyre and some primetime soap vets.

I'm really enjoying Willow so this sounds good to me. She is very refreshing after being bogged down with the repetitive quad storyline and her angle is still mysterious. She looks very, very young and innocent to me and I wonder if she has a role we have not contemplated yet.

Sweet Lord, I HATE that Willow [!@#$%^&*]! Why, why, why?!

I'm pretty much a non-fan too, and NOT a fan of this news.

Honestly Hogan hasn't done anything right so far. I can't stand the actress that plays Willow. I know she may have invis-align, heck I do, but her akward-ness does not spell super-couple or "future" star's new love interest. Seriously, there is something lacking in her!! And now she is on contract??

I hope this show picks up. It's good to watch from day to day, better than before the summer but really NOTHING is happening. The show had, what, 4 months to finish stories and about 2 of those were "stalling" storylines for Hogan. Well its' time. NOW!!

I'm sure it will be. The DiMera story kicks into high gear this month. I think what Hogan has been doing, and needed to do, was shore up the characters first and lead into his stories. Hope has radically changed for the better. I can actually stand watching John and Marlena now. Kate is getting back to her roots. Belle is acting like a mother. Mimi is in the process of getting her life together so she can stand on her own. Chelsea is struggling to find her place as a Brady, as Bo's daughter, and Shawn's sister. Max and Stephanie have ended their incest. It's been a nice month of characters growing up and moving forward.

Personally, I find the fact that this actress now has a contract as a real slap in the face to the fans. They write out Jack, Carrie, and Austin, but there is room for Willow and this subpar actress? Stupid.

I agree with you, Ridge. :)

Disappointing news to say the least. Checking around various messageboards, this news isn't being received very well. I have a feeling that the network honchos are going to be getting a LOT of nasty grams about this news in the coming days.....

I get the feeling that Willow is a new "villain" on the show and

that we're not supposed to like her.

She's obviously going to be a thorn in Shawn and Belle's path back

to each other. Mimi's leaving.

Don't be surprised if Willow turns out to be working for Victor.

I don't see this even related to Jack, Jen, Austin and Carrie. Just because it was necessary to write out some characters doesn't mean that new ones are not needed. You can't have everyone on the show related to each other or there is limited storyline potential. Also JER had messed up Jack/Jen and Austin/Carrie so much that a break from both will revitalize the couples if they return later. Who would I rather have on the show: Carrie or Willow? No contest Carrie would win, but there was no where for Carrie's story to go right now. There is still a lot of vets on the show that are being featured every day. I also think the new characters coming on are involved in characters' storylines that we do care about. I don't have a problem with this, and I also know that a 3 year contract doesn't mean she will be on the show for 3 years.

I couldn't agree with you more. Hogan is doing pretty much everything he has to. The only thing he has done so far that I hate is keeping Willow. Other then that, I don't see why people need to jump all over Hogan right now.

Your right but not anymore nasty mail then they have been getting for Billie/Steve and probably now Billie/Bo. Honestly, some people need to cut the show some slack. Yes we had a summer and early fall of transition but Hogan needs time to make his mark and then have his stories kick in. His stories will really kick in later this week. I honestly have been sickened by some of the reactions I have seen all over the place. Hogan's stuff has been on air for 5 weeks and people act like it's been 5 months. I hate this Willow news to but to call it a slap in the face is ridiculous. It has nothing to do with the cuts. New blood is needed although I don't think this character should have a part in it. Hogan has the right idea it's just the character sucks. He will make changes if he feels the character is not well-received. He has her here for purpose and she will fulfill it and leave. One thing about Hogan is we know he cares about the fan's because many of his previews and plans cite things the fans wanted so it is not unreasonable to think he will go with the fans and end Willow's run as well.
