GL: Are they really doing this?

Where I live, Guiding Light comes on at 10 AM. So I wake up today around 10 and Guiding Light was on. I tried to get into GL over the summer, but the show does nothing for me, except Reva. I love me some Reva!

Anyway, I woke up this morning and it was on so I kept it on. I got through the episode and then at the end of the episode, they aired this promo about Harley becoming "Marvel"????

Now, please tell me the oldest soap in Daytime is not going to have a superhero on their show. What is the deal with this storyline and what do GL fans think about it?

Cause Wheeler and Kreizman were on one serious acid trip.

That explains it. I just can't believe this is happening. I'm stupified right now.

I ignore anything with Harley anyway.

Fortunately, it'll just be a fantasy episode for this week's "Inside the Light" show.

Supposedly, its for cross-pollination. Though acid trip is an equally plausible explanation at this point.

Apparently, there's going to be an article in the New York Times about this tomorrow (At least, their website indicates this), which would be about the first time Guiding Light has appeared in an article in the Times not about potential cancellation since their 50th TV Anniversary almost 5 years ago.

I thought it was crack. They have to be smoking crack to come up with an idea as crazy as this.

I have a feeling this is a fantasy episode as seen through the eyes of Harley's kids. Kind of a "Super-mom" episode... at least that's what I hope. If it's anything meant to be taken seriously, CBS is getting one PO'd e-mail from me.

Well I for one am hoping it is a fantasy episode too. I have not liked the promo at all since the first time I saw it on Friday. GL is pretty good right now and has had some top notch acting. They don't need something like this to spoil the pot.

Yes they're really doing this. Did anyone read in SOW this week, where Carolyn H. talks about Marina no being strong enough to carry her own ITL episode? I wonder what she'll say about the Art whatever (Zac) being the feature for ITL.

GL...please...this is making the clone story look good.

This is an excellent idea by people who know and understand what it takes to make it in this medium anymore.

You have to sell yourself, you have to advertise in all markets and media.

It is a special episode, like Reva's a few weeks ago and like Ross's election day episode years ago.

Get off the back of GL for thinking outside the box like every other show does.

They are doing what they need to do and special episodes are fun for fans and for the actors themselves.

Supernatural stories have been poorly received on every soap except those specializing in them (Dark Shadows, Port Charles). Why a traditional soap like GL would do this is beyond me.

The only thing carrying the show is the acting.
