Sorry if this has already been posted, but I read that beginning early 2007, Ron Weaver will take over as Exec. Producer and John Chambers & Patrick Mulcahey will be the new head writers!!!

Would CBS totally sideline current head writer/exec. prod. Bradley Bell? If this does happen, I would expect Bell to remain in some supervisory position, similar to the arrangement that his father, Bill Bell, Sr., had at "Y&R".

The show is so stale it needs a HUGE HUGE shakeup and overhaul. I remember when people really cared about the show, now? Everyone seems to watch out of habit or have completely forgotten about the show.

Brad Bell always says he's limited by the half hour format, but I watch Ryan's Hope, Port Charles and Dark Shadows and they manage to stay just as fresh as hour shows and they manage to feature more characters.

The problem with B&B now is that they feature the same very narrow group of characters doing the same.exact.things.over.and.over.a-fricking-gain.

Pat Mulcahey has been writing for B&B for quite some time. If you notice any time Brooke shows some backbone Pat is credited as a writer. One example is just the other day when Brooke finally brought up Nick's abusive behavior, "I don't mind if you take me by the arm, but don't grab my arm and yank me around by it!" Followed by Nick chasing Brooke out of the restaurant and pulling her around by her arm again, lol. That was a very good episode.

I thought B&B was the only soap CBS doesn't "own"? And I don't see Brad Bell ceding power. I can't believe this until some official announcement is made.

While that's technically true, CBS does have a lot of say in what goes on in their soaps. They do have vested interests in their soaps. I remember reading an article on Y&R where it was said Barbara Bloom (head of CBS daytime) worked with LML and Bill Bell Jr. on reshaping the show.

I think this is VERY unreliable and unlikely - at least for the part of Brad stepping down as exec.

This would only happen...

if CBS gave him a huge development deal or a major position at Y&R.

B&B is doing much too good rating-wise to force him out - since he and his family owns the whole show. Here, CBS has really no power or influence because they just picked up B&B for 5 more years last spring and due to B&B’s international sales.

And Ron Weaver is roughly 15 years older than Brad. I doubt he would get such a position at his age when every network boss is oh so crazy about young viewers...

While I think Bell needs help, I don't want to see him completely out. I don't want to get writers who are going to change the flavor of B&B, since I think that still works. It just needs fresher storylines within that flavor.

If it's true, Thank God!

But I don't think they could just oust Bell that easily, unless the whole family did some kind of coup d'etat/intervention for Bradley.

    • I don't think he ever gained much traction on GH. He should have stayed with The Doctors. Was Mark just a toned-down version of Nick? Were they basically the same character?
    • All I can think of is if a lot of big names were leaving around that time she wanted him back as a stopgap, although I have never seen any real evidence that he was popular with GH viewers.
    • I loved watching Shanice hand Leslie her ass and finally shutting her up. It was so good. I also love Martin & Smitty's family.  Anita has to have some sort of plan giving Leslie the tickets to mail for Winterfest. She has to be setting her up for a fall. It's pretty obvious to me Vernon is not cheating with Sharon. I think Sharon is helping him with his terrible singing voice for Winterfest. I still believe Bill & Dani are endgame but I love Dani & Andre too. I am definitely enjoying this story. And making Hayley a black widow is a nice twist.
    • Sorry for the spam. Wasn't sure where to put this, it's from Tony Geary's husband's IG. Tony watching Genie and Maurice on Mo's show.
    • This show is really trundling along BTW. When is someone going to show up to slit Beastmaster's throat or crack the whip on metrosexual Sidwell? (BTW, openly presenting this cheery bon vivant as casually bisexual would at least be something vaguely diverting.) At least kill Brennan by year's end. I'm bored.
    • She told Vanessa to "DOUBLE her offer" on the Jarvis house.  The Jarvis family accepted the doubled price.  Assuming the house has an appraised value of $2,000,000, she's theoretically paid the Jarvis family $4,000,000 for the house.  The bank would loan Leslie 80% of the appraised value ($1,600,000), and Leslie had to pay the balance with cash at closing --- $2,200,000.  She only had ONE million.  Where the hell did she get the rest?!  And now she's got contractors working on the house all day & half the night.  Who's paying THEM?  I keep thinking all this will crash around her.  Either that or the writers have absolutely no idea the limits of a million dollars.  Sounds like a "lot of money", but it obviously ain't when we look at Leslie's spending since she got that million dollar check in August.

    • Vernon is an idiot. Why would he have Sharon in the same hotel that Leslie is staying at?
    • Yes, that out of the blue return was odd. Maybe GG found a forgotten clause in the contract he signed when he was wooed to ABC and they were forced to take him back! Like George Reinholt he talked about the contract that promised him primetime roles. But it was loaded in the networks favor. I think it was Gloria Loring that re-signed at Days on the promise of primetime opportunities, but that was all it was- she was put up for guest spots and TV movies but not necessarily guaranteed that she get the role.
    • I still am baffled by why Monty brought back stunt hire Gerald Gordon in the early '80s out of nowhere for like a year. I haven't found anyone who can come up with a thing he did in that second stint of note.
