Days of our Lives Writer Declares "No More Incest!"Is anyone else grossed out by the strange love life of race-car driver Max Brady (Darin Brooks) on NBC's Days of our Lives?

Technically, this hottie is related to both his honeys, Chelsea Brady (Rachel Melvin) and Stephanie Johnson (Shayna Rose). That's just wrong. Fortunately, Days' new head writer, Hogan Sheffer, totally agrees with me.

"There's a real dearth of any other family but Bradys on the map," Sheffer tells TVGuide.com. "So the show has become incredibly incestuous, which is why Max is fooling around with his nieces -- which ends now!

"No more incest," Sheffer declares. "Max and Frankie were adopted, so it's true that they are not blood Bradys. Max is not related by blood to Chelsea or Stephanie, but he's still their uncle. You know, my brother has an adopted daughter, who is my niece. If I went to my brother and said, "I want to date your daughter"... he would drive an icepick into my head! So how is anybody in the Brady family OK with Max dating his nieces?!"

Finally, a voice of reason speaks in Salem.

P.S. As my colleague Michael Logan teases in the new issue of TV Guide magazine, that brattish teen tramp, Chelsea, will meet a new love interest named Nick Fallon on November 7. Mr. Fallon (who hasn't yet been cast) is described in the mag as a "handsome but nerdy geneticist who is socially inept and a self-confessed virgin."

No word yet on whom Max and Stephanie will be romancing in the future, but -- despite the flirtation that is still playing out on-screen -- they won't be dating each other much longer.

That's good 'cause, related or not, Max and Steph are rather boring together anyway. IMHO, Darin Brooks is a handsome kid with stage presence and his Max character deserves to date a fun gal who isn't his kin.

lol He's so right. This story with Chelsea and Stephanie is really disgusting!

I think it's great. The near-incest angle aside, I don't feel Max/Chelsea and Max/Stephanie have any chemistry.

I hope he does keep talking. He is hilarious and I am so happy we are losing the incest angle. It isn't horrible but the couples don't really have chemistry so it works out well IMO.

This article is great and all. I'm really hoping for a Max/Abby pairing eventually--after Abby's character becomes more fully developed.

However, I wonder why Hogie started this Stephanie/Max romance in the first place? I remember him expressing this same anti-incest a few weeks/month ago during that Soapnet interview. He's been providing Beth Milstein with the direction of the show for a few months now right? If that's correct, then I'm presuming that he had a hand in putting Max/Stephanie together in the first place. JER just had Chelsea and Max together and was probably planning a triangle with Stephanie in the picture. But Hogie ended the Chelsea/Max relationship and started the Stephanie/Max relationship immediately after the Chelsea/Max fallout. WHY?

I don't absolutely hate the Stephanie/Max scenes although I don't think there's much chemistry there. The pairing just seems inexplicable to me, esp since Hogie has expressed so strongly that he was against incest but allowed Beth Milstein to put them together anyway.....

Max & Stephanie started before Sheffer first aired (Thursday). I'm not sure, however, why he had Milstein continue to write it, instead of having her clean it up in preparation.

If I remember correctly, Max develops a crush on Mimi as soon as Abby develops a crush on Max. I think Abby and Max will be very innocent at first. She will be the agresser and Max will probably think of her as a little girl at first, but then will realize that he does in fact have feelings for her. It's going to be a very cute story.

I feel like Sheffer is being allowed to do everything on DAYS that he always wanted to do on ATWT but couldn't for various reasons. I hated his tenure on ATWT, and so far his DAYS is ten times better.
