Y&R Discussion for the Week of 08/21-08/25

Well, it looks like there will be more drama for everyone this week.

With the loss of John, things don't look at all good between Jack and Gloria.

The Winters family are still at a crossroads in their marriage; and throwing Daniel into the mix only sets them off once again.

Brad, still trying to keep his past a secret, decides to ask JT and Paul for further help.

Looks like it's going to be an interesting week....

See you all later to discuss today's show.

I missed all of last week and I feel like I'm LOST. I didn't know Brad had more secrets.

^You missed some great acting! Check out You Tube they probably have stuff up there.

I'm so SICK of JT. So how many girls have he devirginized now...Rianna, Mac, Anita(OK not REALLY but it looked like Fred wasn't putting out in a long time) and now Colleen.

The Gloria/Jack/Ashley scenes were the best. I loved when Ashley barked at Gloria to be quiet. Peter and Eileen were great!

The Winters were nice...great to see Dru not holding a grudge with Daniel on her daughter's night. STFU Neil.

Seems like Sharon is going crazy LOL! But I did like that end scene with her and Dru.

Here's my question do you guys think that John deserves a big funeral (put your Glo hate aside lol)? I can see both perspectives, and although I'd like to see a big splashy funeral, I'd think it would be best to keep it simple. I wish they'd show the burial too!

Before I answer your question DruRocks, I'm laughing at how Sharon want's to cop an attitude because Brad told her he can no longer have "booty calls" with her....

Okay, I personally think that John deserves a big funeral; not because Gloria wants it, but because it would be more of a way for all those that worked with him, knew him to get to say their farewells and also to talk about what a wonderful man he was.

This is week 2 of the poor ME, Myself, and I dramatics of GloHo. I am so sick and tired of that woman, and if they don't get rid of her soon I may have to quit watching. When GloHo was going on about how John would want to still be alive, and how he was in prison; I found myself screaming at the screen "He was there because of you!".............

I am so proud of Jack for what he said to GloHo, about her thinking that she was the ONLY one who lost someone......

Wonder how far the show is going to go with Sharon and the PTSD she's suffering from.

UGH @ GI George suggesting to Vicky that they start a family.

Notice the change in Dru at Lily's celebration? I knew she would be the one that would suddenly embrace Daniel, while Neil treated him like dirt. He's using Daniel and Lily's situation as a way to slam on Dru, and I am not liking that. Instead of talking to her about it, he keeps rubbing what she did in her face.

DruRocks, I will be checking out You Tube.

Sharon seems so loopy. She needs a shrink BAD. Her daughter's death, Nick's affair and kidnapping, she was bound to lose it.

I was cheering Jack on today when he was putting GloHo in her place! Tell the truth, Jack!

I think there should be two services for John. A private funeral and a public memorial.

Phyllis and Nick disgust me. They're so selfish.

Neil is such a wipe.

Just a few observations about today's episode:

Neil just gets more and more pathetic, finding every excuse to throw a passive-aggressive jab at Dru.

Someone pointed this out in another thread, but Dru and Sharon are so self-absorbed, it's not surprising that they can't see that the other is troubled with something.

Peter Bergman continues to amaze and I loved that Jack put Gloria in her place and called her out on her selfish crap.

Judith Chapman is back to her craptastic acting. God help us! LOL!

Nick and Phyllis are nauseating.

And I miss the Executive Producer title card at the end of the show. It added a dramatic flair and now, I'm always caught off guard that it's the end of the show. LOL!

Judith Chapman is more of an acquired taste, I don't think she's that bad. I think the fact that the character has been painted so ugly is ahrd to get past.

It depends on what you mean by big splashy funeral. Soaps tend to blur the line between funeral and memorial. They are to different events. IRL given John's status it would most likely be a private invite only funeral with a larger more public memorial. I think Gloria wants a large funeral so that she can put on her grieving widow act while Jack wants a smaller funeral so that the family can grieve in private.

Gloria will most likely - as the widow - have the last say. She'll probably exclude Jack/Ashley from any planning and make it all about her and her son's. If that's what she does, I hope it back fires big time.

Gloria better look out for Billy, he has something to atone for -- he thinks-- and that makes him a threat.

Using the word splashy was very Gloriaesue on my part :P I just meant a larger more public memorial like JSROCKS pointed out.

My grandma was watching the show and she said "I guess once the next "Flavor of the Month" come along, those mock tears of hers will dry up quick....I'm sorry but if she starts crying over Jack (if things do go in a romantic direction for them) because he has decided he wants to be with Phyllis, I'll reach in and really give her something to sob about.

To me, she was only crying because she was no longer going to have Brad doting on her every word and sticking up for her.

Nick thinks that he's all happy go lucky because the nurse announced that they were going to have a girl....the more I think about it, the more I see nothing but a 'deja Vu' in the form of the whole "This is the real daddy" saga happening. Since Victor had this happen to him, it's Nick's turn.

I do think that John deserves a memorial service comparable to Cassie's last year. If the whole town wanted to go to her funeral, I'm certain they would want to go to John's.

But, since a lot of people had their chance to say goodbye at his hospital bed, I guess I can see why Jack would only want a small private service. It fits John in that he was always a quiet, private man.

Yep its what John would have wanted. With Gloria its always some big spectacle. Remember her ideas for Lauren and Mikey's wedding?

Gloria: Your dad isn't even cold and already your treating me like I am not part of the family.

Well Gloria newsflash, with John gone your link to the Abbots my dear is gone!
