I am in email communication with her. Hard to know but she seems experienced. I've asked her if she will be videotaping for distribution after. No, although that might change. I've asked her if she will be live streaming. No and that will not change. I asked her if guests will be able to videotape themselves. No. She indicated prohibitive costs of $3000 for videotaping and $4000 for live streaming. She also indicated disappointment that neither NBC nor P&G was interested in co-sponsoring this event. That's about it.

💯 They would only have to pay those not presently on the show, etc. and if anything, it would be Brad Maule, etc. And it would be the other Tony, Geary. So, two people. Big Whoop! They should be able to budget for that. They've had months to get ready for this. I've started thinking about Paris. I believe we will have scenes there. But, I don't think Spencer will come back home, from Paris. Wonder how they will write that for Trina.

DAYS: January 2024 Discussion Thread
I thought today was another good DAYS. I cannot imagine any prison where that loser doper guy could have had long hair like that! So, that was inconsistent. Plus, he was way too cool to be under arrest for selling 2 bags of drugs to an undercover cop. You refer to the flirting? I wondered how much Tate would know about her being kidnapped & held hostage in Mexico?!! They must have very interesting family stories! HA! What did he say wrong? Things seemed to be going fine & then all of a sudden she took offense. She herself knew that Holly got drunk one night over the holidays. And, it's high time that Johnny divulged that he'd seen her smoke a joint. DiMera v. Brady, Round #1. I'm personally really tired of Everett, Stephanie & of Konstantin. Wheatgrass & kale? What do you expect when that is your starting point?!! GAG

Absolutely! Pamela K. Long showed herself & her abilities as a HW & a creator of characters in the best light possible when she drafted Alexandra Spaulding for Beverlee McKinsey! At one point I had not learned yet that she was custom-made & when I found out, so much fell into place. I have since wondered if Pete Lemay did something similar at AW when he created Iris Wheeler & I imagine that he did. Bev had previously played one of the Frame sisters, so he knew what he was getting. Sometimes I try to imagine more scenes. We could have had more if only Jill had listened to her. Jill has the reputation of being an "actor's producer" but this was one time when she failed completely!

Some people are suggesting that they're saving all the flashbacks for today & tomorrow. If that is a strategy they are employing, I think they shot themselves in the foot. The only cost that is incurred from using original flashbacks is having to pay residuals to any actor in them who is not currently on the show. When DAYS was on NBC they would NOT pay that. On Peacock DAYS has used 1 flashback that had Jensen Ackles as Eric. Networks do not like to pay residuals to past actors. But, I think it is something they are wrong-headed about. Plus, most of the people in this case ARE ON THE SHOW NOW. I guess that only Tony Geary would be getting residuals.- R.I.P.: Bridget Dobson another brutal loss of one of daytime's finest

https://soaphub.com/days-of-our-lives/news-days/nancy-lee-grahn-a-martinez-and-more-pay-tribute-to-santa-barbara-creator-bridget-dobson/ Lane Davies played Mason Capwell, firstborn son to C.C. Capwell (Jed Allan) and leading man to Nancy Lee Grahn on-screen. “Bridget was possessed of an indomitable spirit, irrepressible creativity, and a truly wicked sense of humor,” Davies shared on Instagram. “Together with her husband of 60-plus years, Jerry, she gave us some of the most memorable moments and characters in the history of Daytime Television. She will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.” The Dobsons cast A Martinez as Cruz Castillo, the show’s leading man who was paired opposite Marcy Walker’s Eden Capwell. “Bridget and her husband Jerry eventually ascended into the realm of legend,” Martinez, who won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1990, wrote on Facebook. “As is always the case with great writers who will not be denied, their obsession to build their own world –– and share it ––delivered emotional medicine for years to millions of people around the world, and the power of that medicine lingers to this day. Thank you, Bridget. May a warm wind carry you always.” “Bridget Dobson and her husband Jerry hired me to play the most curious, absorbing, complex, inspiring, character of my career,” Grahn posted on Instagram referring to the part of Julia Wainwright Capwell. (Grahn won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1989 for playing Julia.) “Realizing the role of Julia Wainwright, having the privilege of feeling my way through this beautifully constructed character’s relationship with herself and others was life-altering for me,” Grahn continued. “It advanced me as an actress and a woman. It introduced 140 some countries to me and me to them and it set the path to a career that has so far lasted 38 yrs. The effect just one person can have on your life is quite extraordinary. Rest in greatness, Bridget and thank you.”- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Do you remember the movie SOAPDISH? Do you recall that periodically the HW would take the star to a mall in NJ? To me when Kin posts one of his predictable but crazy things, those of us on UglyX at the time are the people in the mall. I've been completely thrown by her voice. So, is this new?- Y&R: January 2024 Discussion Thread
I don't think Eileen Davidson ever announced her "retirement." Does she call some shots on her contract? Yeah, and I'm fine with it. That's what superstars are able to do. Y&R knows how valuable she is. No, I never got the impression that she was retiring. Instead I think she's said quite clearly that she doesn't want to be "permanent full-time" either at Y&R or at DAYS but she is open to being "permanent short arc" according to the circumstances & story for both. So she's Ashley now & not long ago she was Thomas Banks.- NBC Daytime
IDK but if it were me I would post this in DAYS Behind The Scenes & also ask @karenguirie8 (Make Days Better).- GH: January 2024 Discussion Thread

I don't agree. I think this is an interesting way to pay heed to an important player. And, I think I am feeling the experience more. But, I do think they aren't using enough clips. There should be flashbacks galore. On UglyX someone posted that NV had said they aren't doing flashbacks because they're too expensive. Well, basically that's because a royalty, no a residual may have to be paid. And, if that is really their reason then they need to reprioritize to be able TO afford them. Because they are that important.- Y&R: January 2024 Discussion Thread
You know I'm new here but I'm not new to ED. She is a goddess, a marvel. Every time I see her in a scene with this Tucker McColl person, I just want to scream. He seems like such an utterly worthless human being & so very far beneath her & so unworthy of her time & attention. I want to rescue her! Ya know, like FreeLiz! Only Ashley, Run! Meanwhile I thought Brian Gaskill did an excellent job. Above average. MTS is winning me over. Peter Bergman's eyes are puffy. Why is that? He shouldn't have puffy eyes.- Another World Discussion Thread
Okay, you have given me an idea. What if we come up with some questions? Then I would email them to this Karen person & she'd be crazy not to use them! Okay, as always, thanks for a link but, oddly, this has nothing to do with Another World. It is about ATWT & about AIDS & the NY scene, etc.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Okay, GL fans, please bear with us very briefly as we move to another P&G show, SFT. I'm sure you are aware that MEB got tons of criticism. People said she tried to drive off Mary Stuart & do away with the character of Jo. Her defenders say that is just not so. It is at best a gross exaggeration. That what she did & what she was hired to do (!) was to "youthenize" the whole show but that was all. Mulcahey said that she would NOT defend herself. She was known as a "mover & a shaker". He said she was effective & that she got things done. He was definitely an advocate for her. Pete was HW for SFT in 1981. His tenure was ended because a Writers' Strike went into effect. "The stint ended with the writers' strike and charges by Lemay that producer Mary-Ellis Bunim urged him to 'spice up' the romantic scenes. (She, in turn, merely said that Lemay proved 'ineffective.')" That strike ran from Mar. 7 to Sept. 24, 1981, a 5 month strike. I can find Mulcahey at SFT in '79-'80. I can find Pete there both '80, also '81. It is a bit unclear exactly who/when but they both were definitely there pre-strike. IDK about after. Generally Pete fans chalk up SFT as a wash because he didn't really get a chance to do his kind of stuff there! What you say about Nancy when he was Story Consultant at ATWT, never thought of that, very insightful! Lemay is one man who did not have a problem writing women! Examples are Ada, Rachel, Iris. - R.I.P.: Bridget Dobson another brutal loss of one of daytime's finest
