They need to do the repeal in order to make their tax cuts for the rich "revenue neutral." This is their last bite at the apple.

I don't trust anything written by Chris Cilliza when it comes to Hillary. His hatred for her is all-consuming.

The Congressional Dems seem to have managed to push away Bernie's famewhoring. At least based on what I've seen on social media. He managed to eat the news cycle last week but it looks like everyone has refocused. Except of course for the people at Our Revolution which is telling people to call their reps to support Bernie's bill instead of saving the ACA.

I'm terribly afraid it might pass too. I called Portman's office and got voice mail. I guess I'm going to have to get back to calling his narrow ass on a daily basis.

Calling other states is pointless unless you are targeting leadership like McConnell or Ryan. What can be helpful is calling House member in districts other than your own (in your own state of course.) When I called Rep. Dave Joyce, I made it very clear that even though I didn't live in his district I would happily hop on the turnpike to show up and support his challenger and I wouldn't be alone.

I'm not excited about this bill because 1.) it's Sanders and folks here know how I feel about him and 2.) it's just a symbolic gesture that's DOA and I hate that. I hate show votes and garbage legislation. But the truth is a big part (the majority?) of the electorate wants government to be run like a reality show, and 3.) IMO the focus SHOULD be on saving and fixing the ACA instead of some pipe dream that can't happen as long as the GOP controls any part of government. I really wish we could have a substantive discussion about healthcare in this country and what would be the right model. Single payer? Medicare for All? (Which apparently aren't the same thing) The public option? (personally I think that's the logical next step.) Instead we're held hostage by simple thinkers on both sides who can't get past slogans like "Government takeover of healthcare!!" and "SinglePayer!!SinglePayer!!SinglePayer!!"

Paul Ryan isn't going to do anything. Both he and McConnell are Trump's punks. They will allow him to humiliate them over and over rather than acknowledge that they are failures at governing.

It's not about the law. It's about the fact that mediocre white people are desperate to remove any and all competition. Remember a few months ago Tom Cotton put forth a plan to reduce legal immigration too. We are at the mercy of some of the stupidest meanest people the world has ever seen.

The way the DNC continues to allow him to sabotage us is endlessly frustrating. I know a lot of people who want to cut Perez and Ellison loose over it. I'm not that far gone yet but I'm not sending them any money until Bernie and his band of zealots are gone.

The head of the CFPB is from Ohio. If they succeed in ousting him, he's already being talked about as a front runner for the Dems in the Governor's race. He did a lot of good here after the housing crash. I hope he can stay at the CFPB but if not I would be thrilled to have him run. He's the kind of candidate that the Repubs would have a hard time attacking except to tie him to Obama and Ohio went for Obama twice.

LOL! It's got very little to do with politics and a lot to do with counterfeiting. http://www.bep.gov/uscurrency/ I'm going to hold on to the hope that Tubman will find her way onto the 20.

That's more dog whistling to the base. The new bills aren't set to roll out until 2030. Donnie and his cabal will all be dead, in jail or living in exile in Russia by then.

You remind me of a comment I saw on another site from someone complaining about taking down Confederate monuments. He said that "the Left" is going to wish they stayed quiet when conservatives start tearing down statues of Malcolm X and demanding the street names be changed. I told him that given the neighborhoods where you find "Malcolm X Boulevard" I would cherish watching the attempt. Just let me get some popcorn first.

The problem (for me) is that they hinder the cause they claim to want to help. The right wing is just salivating in the hopes that antifa kills someone and when that happens who do you think the cops will crack down on? The white guys who rip off their black masks and disappear into the crowd or the black and brown people out peacefully protesting. This is another case of far lefties fetishizing "revolution" even if it means hurting innocent people.

I despise them. They hijack peaceful protests for their own infantile emotional needs and they give cover to the "both sides" narrative. Once people start getting violent it's easy for innocents to get hurt and they don't care. Don't get me wrong. I like seeing Nazis get beat down as much as the next person but antifa hurt more than they help.

I think one look at the White House answers that question. Donnie wouldn't be in the Oval if it weren't for the primal scream of white supremacy as a response to Obama.
