  1. Absolutely and to be fair - I don't think the lack of sets help. If you're in (let's say) your early 30s you probably do have your own household, but in DAYS nobody else does. Chanel/Allie/Johnny etc would still be finishing out their educations and trying to get started in life. But there's no budget to have entirely separate storylines and sets, so they all end up in a blur. I agree that it's sort of problematic how there seems to be no characters to truly pass the torch to - of course a part of that problem is that even if they find a young actor to develop, DAYS's strange and erratic filming schedule scares them away and they bolt for the first best opportunity they can get (and in general, soaps used to be seen as steady work that could go towards your retirement, it's far from a given that these shows will be here in a decade so better to try to build your resume).
  2. Pretty much - I do think he appears a bit more and sometimes get his own little storylines, but mostly he's there for Angela to banter with. The issue with the first 13 episodes is that they're all pretty self-contained, so it sort of becomes repetitive with Angela (and Lance etc) acting like foils towards the Gioberti's, who end up overcoming whatever obstacle that's been thrown at them by the end of the episode. I imagine they might've had an initial 13 episode order and since it got a late debut they might've written most of it by that point; so when the ratings were good enough to get the go ahead for a back order they finally started going into full serialised mode.
  3. Another one to join the Kate Roberts welcome wagon?
  4. Indeed, and it seems like they're doing the same mistake with both Claire and Allie, who seemingly went from being in their very early 20s to being in their mid or late 20s in a very short amount of time. There's supposed to be a rather big age difference between her and Will, but it's not really noticeable anymore. In all honesty - with the 40-somethings on todays bed-hopping and having babies like they're still in their 20s, do we really need hugely SORAS'd characters? I always got the feeling that the reason it happened was because of rigid conceptions of how and what characters could do at certain stages in their lives. I'd stop hugely SORAS-ing characters unless we're talking about a year here or there. But there's no need to jump a decade plus.
  5. If I believed there was a chance of her staying dead, I'd agree.
  6. If they put Falcon Crest on FreeVee then I don't see why Knots isn't next; I imagine that the thing that might be holding it up is the entire issue with songs and how they'll deal with that (either cut out, replace or pay license fee; the latter could get more expensive than they like).
  7. I would also add that Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman very much works as it's own entity; it's a decent send-off especially in an era where a lot of shows didn't get that. I'm curious about Forever Fernwood, but I don't really feel like Hartman is incomplete without having seen it.
  8. Wow Peter's got such big hands.
  9. Honestly, I think Victoria was a find as Ciara, especially as we had Mumbles previously. That's why it's a shame that DAYS seem unable to keep a lot of the talented younger cast, despite them not really doing much after leaving the show (see also ORK as Claire, though I just saw that she had been cast in Gotham Knights). She just dresses a bit inappropriate for the occasion, but on the other hand I always like to think that if you've got it... flaunt it.
  10. This is a good summary of his faults as a writer - while yes, it's fun to watch Joan Collins' as Alexis deliver some juicy lines, it's the in-between parts that makes those lines interesting. He just isn't that interested in proper world building and exploring what makes these characters tick; he'd rather just watch those "Best of Dynasty" YouTube videos.
  11. Suddenly, Peacock wanting to stop gifs / videos makes sense...
  12. Yay! I agree - there's a lot of world building in those first 13 episodes, though I will say there's also the annoying thing where they'll blatantly forget the happenings of the previous episodes, most notably... I will say that from episode 1x14 through 4x19 I find it a pretty remarkable show; despite all its criticism for being plot heavy (and it is, which is why we get a lot of side characters, but a lot of them end up being death fodder, which is why FC is the deadliest 80s soap) they actually had real overarching plots that were weaved through the seasons. That only seemed to change when the network got cold feet re: the nazi stuff (which was always there, but I guess there was a "show-not-tell" rule when nazis actually turned up). I still find the show enjoyable through seasons 5-7, but it becomes increasingly frantic so by season 8 it makes sense to try and bring it back to the ground. Season 9 is underrated and I'll stand by that, but I understand why hardcore FC fans doesn't like it as it's like a different show at that point.
  13. That's the story I heard - that they "shot" a few alternative takes about Bobby's return to cover up the dream solution, not that it was ever seriously considered. Explains the potato picture quality of the pictures too - they're done that way because obviously they were never going to be used. I might be wrong, but I think there was some other "alternative" scene that was sent out as a decoy.
  14. And here I just was wanting to talk [!@#$%^&*] about my favourite silly soap opera. What's happening lol
  15. The issue in season 4 pretty much comes towards the end when the network interference starts and the show never really finds its footing again. The show is still fun at points after that though.
  16. @Vee look at 1x01 then skip to 1x14 to see if you're interested - because in 1x14 you get to see Melissa do the soap slut move to end all soap slut moves! She's amazing.
  17. No, these shows rarely planned for more than one season ahead and considering Jill plotted her revenge towards insufferable Valene and was completely justified in doing so, I doubt it was ever in the pipeline from the start.
  18. Not surprised at the limited episodes for Peter and Kristian since this was originally meant to be for BS3. It feels obvious that some of it was at least already pre-written and just hamfisted into the show, hence why it feels like there's two shows in one at the moment.
  19. In my imagination - Val would be the Abby to David's Gary. She'd whip him into shape. Would her shaping him into something respectable make him stay with Val for the long haul or make him go back to comfortable Donna? And yes, Donna would have a steady supply of men wanting her. To keep the tradition! You'd have to watch and see. As for Kelly / Brandon and Steve / Janet - I feel like their stories would contrast; on one side you'd have the outside "perfect" story of Kelly / Brandon and then Steve / Janet who'd be publically the mess.
  20. I posted this reboot idea on Reddit, but I'm an attention whore and like any feedback I get: I'd pitch it as "Knots Landing on steroids" to network execs.
  21. Beverly Hills 90210 - Season 6 finale.
  22. Chandler doing gay tickle fetish porn (while being covered in pizza) would've been more believable xoxo
