Primetime Soaps
I really wish they would've just let Darren Star finish out the season and do whatever he planned on doing with it. Oh, and just moved it up an hour. It actually had the highest rating in its season when they did a random airing on Sunday, away from the Fox dramas and after it went off the air, Party of Five actually started spiking in the ratings so it was obvious they were bleeding each others viewers. Ah well. Probably should've been on Fox in the first place but then it wouldn't have gotten the same budget.

Primetime Soaps
The writing basically made sense for the first 13 episodes when Darren Star still helmed the show and once Camille Marchetta took over for the final eight episodes it all went south.

Queer as Folk
Well, I'm finally nearing the end of having watched this in its entirety and it's fair to say that the UK version is far superior, but then again, being only 10 episodes in total that feels inevitable. Part of why the OG QaF worked was because it felt like a genuine look at how a lot of gay men are seemingly stuck in a pro-longed adolescence, while the rest of the world keeps moving. Stuart and Vince were stuck in a holding parting because both of them weren't really ready to grow up; Stuart had a successful career, but the emotional maturity of a teenager. Meanwhile, Vince meanwhile might've been wanting more emotionally, but was also stuck in a dead-end career. Nathan of course was only starting out, but he wasn't somehow more emotionally mature or ready to take on adult life with a career. Still, somehow they all remained likable thanks to the writing and us only getting a slice of their lives. Eventually they all would've needed to move on from each other and likely would've (even if the fantasy ending of Stuart / Vince is okay). I think the issue is that when they tried to stretch this concept in the US version it inevitable became increasingly thin and I guess less and less real to life. Justin and Brian should've never been a sort of a "one true pairing". For me the show started going downhill once they pivoted towards that - Justin getting that emotional bond he wanted with Ethan, who then betrayed him and his solution was going to be running back to Brian, who was as emotionally stunted as ever? Add that he wasn't even 20 yet. Wouldn't the obvious thing be that Justin would've gone out and started exploring his options rather than hanging onto Brian? But you can say the same for Michael once he paired up with Ben. Ultimately, I think the US version suffers from the same issue that a lot of shows that are based on a very specific concept and they try to drag it out, namely, why are these people still in each others life by the end of it? I'm not surprised that the ratings seemed to fall off after season 3.

DAYS: Daily, Weekly or Monthly Discussion Thread? (Poll)
I voted for weekly as monthly might feel a bit unwieldy for new users and it's worth trying out as Days have slightly more discussion than others bar BtG.

Primetime Soaps
I think we all know that if he had a wife and kids there'd be a short blurb about them though. It's not that he necessarily wanted to be private (which is something I do promote, because God knows we need to know less about each other), it's that he couldn't be open.

Best of Everything
I think the obvious thing here is that ABC tried to launch an all new noon soap opera block with a show that seemingly was meant to skew young in a time slot that definitively feels like should've always been reserved for "your grandmother's soap". Love of Life did well in the slot, but that was because it seemed geared towards a slightly conservative and older audience. The Best of Everything always seemed like something that would draw in a younger crowd that simply wasn't home. Add that Dark Shadows was falling apart in the late afternoon and suddenly ABC's daytime soap line up was looking slightly less healthy. If anything it feels like A World Apart got shafted a bit - it did improve in its second season on air, going from a horrible 2.8 rating to a slightly-less-but-still-pretty-horrible 3.4. Still, an improvement is an improvement. Of course, only All My Children managed to stay on the air out of that launched soap block and kept improving its ratings year-to-year (and never did as badly as its lead-ins).

Knots Landing
Maybe it's just smoothing filters? It seems a bit odd that he'd get extensive plastic surgery at 80 (though I'm actually sure he's had some nips and tucks before).

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
I mean, it's better than the TV rips we had before. Plus now they have their own dedicated website...

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
Well, we know they initially had the description on the channel that they'd upload episodes of 1994-1995 (season 30), 2016-17 (season 52) and season 58 (2022-23). I assume they might've gone for season 34 first to experiment maybe? I think they weren't expecting the cat to be let out of the bag so soon, so maybe they wanted to wait until September when technically seasons "start" in television. I just hope they realize that skipping so many episodes is no bueno.

Dynasty Discussion Thread
That's funny since Joan (allegedly) didn't like him.

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
Thanks. I hope that, if not before than, that we can at least get some clarity on what the long-term plan here is on Day of Days event later this year. I think too many episodes are missing at this point to be a music issue and just randomly uploading episodes seem quite strange.

Ah yes. Of course, a "bachelor".

Knots Landing
I don't think it had to do with her acting ability as much as the other young male in the cast was Olivia's cousin and seeing Olivia go after either Greg or Gary or Mac would be ultra gross. Easier to have Linda take that role.

Peyton Place
That dubious award goes to baby Christopher on Dallas. All babies are miracles and all that, but some less than others.

Knots Landing
That was obviously the direction they were taking Olivia in - making her Abby's mini-me with her story arc of being unhappy being middle class struggling for money. And then they kind of dropped Olivia and had her and Harold go off into the sunset. I can only assume they started figuring that Olivia had way too many connections to the main cast that made it difficult for her to properly use her womanly wiles to get her way, so they had Linda take that role.

Laura Horton aka Jamie Lynn Bauer!

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
Do you mean Celeste aka Lexie's mother? If they keep uploading them in order at least you can pretend it's just like watching in the old days when you'd miss an episode here and there. I wish someone could confirm if the missing episodes contain music and that's why they're not there.

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
They're going to upload seasons from what I can see. They started in March 1998, so it's technically not even the start of the 34th season, but they do seem to be in order just with missing episodes (supposedly due to music rights).
-
DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
Just an update, but the playlist has gone from 45 videos to 49, so at least that indicates that they won't limit the episode uploads too much. Unfortunately I do assume missing episodes has to do with music rights.

If they have the master tapes, then surely the music can be lifted out? It's usually added in post-production.

Falcon Crest
I was about to bring up his role in Melrose lol. Keith was surely the opposite of nice guy Cole.

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
I saw a comment that the missed episodes has music in them. So that might be an explanation for the random skips. I think B&B just let YouTube's automatic system handle those things though.

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
Looking at the episode descriptions it's 8256 and then 8259-61 so far. I hope the playlist only having 45 videos on it so far doesn't means that they'll limit the episode uploads. It's a serialized show so it doesn't make sense not to upload all episodes.

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
Seems like they've set the upload pace at two episodes a day.
