  1. It's been said for a while now that she was leaving, but because DAYS's shooting schedule it feels like forever...
  2. I think the issue is that the writers just have never had any real idea what they wanted to do with Eric - JER might've had an early idea about what to do with him (I remember him stating that he wanted to position him on the canvas for a bit before moving into proper storylines a la how Mike took a while to take off as a character again). But when JER left, so did any plans and Eric has just been floundering around since.
  3. IIRC, Salem / Harmony High were meant to be part of the Saturday morning line-up on NBC, probably replacing Saved by the Bell: New Class. So if they had managed to run beyond the Last Blast crowd, they probably would've replaced them with new cast members. Of course, NBC dumped the entire "teen NBC" line-up in 2002. Either way, they were never meant to be daytime soaps in the sense they'd run indefinitively for five days a week.
  4. Since we're talking about opinions suddenly, the Martika version is superior to Carole's boring pretentious version. When it comes to Richard and Maggie - I'm sort of indifferent. It makes sense on paper - the fair-haired L'Oreal Queen and the Bad Poster Boy of the show gets together is sort of a trope, but they never did much for me. I guess it's better than being stuck with perpetual stick-in-the-mud Chase.
  5. Except Carrie's "job" was basically a sham - it was always just a way for her to get money from Allen in an indirect way and by all accounts her column wasn't good or driving readers; that's why when Stephanie finally cuts her column she stays. She couldn't get another job where all she did was ramble about her nights out and get paid for it. She knew that Stephanie was basically hired to try and get her out of the magazine and cushy lifestyle; she didn't want to get another job where she had to, you know, work.
  6. Allen pretty much hired Stephanie because he was unhappy with what was happening at the magazine - especially with his darling step-daughter's contribution (a column with a huge expense account and a large office); he pretty much admits to both Stephanie and Carrie that if she has to cut costs so that Carrie eventually quits her job because she's not getting the same benefits - oh well! He can't out-right fire her himself, presumably because of Linda and it would be a bad look publically. Rachel was pretty much instantly established as a social climber with a past that made her flee the over the Atlantic. She was never going to be satisfied with just being the fashion girl.
  7. I kind of wonder if Deanna was meant to last longer, but they didn't feel Raver or the character worked - I know on Melrose Place / Beverly Hills 90210 they talked about how they used to sign recurring characters for three episodes at a time, extending their contract as they went along if they felt they worked. But I agree that there probably wasn't much more to play and was probably too disconnected from the other cast; introducing Kylie Travis's Rachel in the next episode was the right move as she was fully integrated in the mix.
  8. Dat Peacock money going into expensive CGI I see.
  9. RIP John Aniston. I'm glad he continued to work despite obviously not being in the best health. (PS look at those nice high-quality clips, sigh)
  10. Stephanie and Chad will make it to the altar, but an alive Abby will show up with a baby in the tow. Want to bet against me?
  11. This is a very smart move for Peacock and should be mutually beneficial to both DAYS and the Hallmark movies. I imagine there'll be a lot of synergy going on there.
  12. Steven on Dynasty.
  13. It was released on two tapes as a mini series in Europe as Long Island. The cover can be seen here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085027/mediaviewer/rm3779429889/ The video tape quality really dragged the show down to be honest. I did like how Craig Sheffer - who would go on to play Keith Scott in One Tree Hill - looked like a Steven recast in this despite looking nothing like it later in life.
  14. Again, I think a lot of it might have to do with Tinker wanting to do more prime time spots and get a more flexible schedule, especially since that seems to be the driving factor behind Lamon, Saleisha and Marci's departures. Understandably, DAYS has seemingly cut down on actors who wants the show to adjust to their schedules - and to be fair, if that's the case here you'd still have a Sonny that wouldn't commit to the show full time and the writers writing him accordingly. I'd rather have Sonny and Will off screen until they can find actors willing to commit if that's the case here. Because it's either that or he's asking for a struggling daytime drama that's moved to a struggling streaming service for a big enough raise for them to let him go.
  15. He has a recurring role on Big Sky last I checked, so more likely he wanted a more flexible schedule to be able to do prime time, so I don't see him stepping onto another soap. I think DAYS has understandably cut down on actors doing the whole recurring-with-flexible-schedule thing lately.
  16. Well, Peacock will now be included in Nielsen's streaming data and have been counted from the week of 9/25, so we might be getting some clues about how DAYS is doing there.
  17. Oh dear, you can watch the playback on that. They're were drunk.
  18. You know, he really goes for it at least.
  19. From what it's been said on Deadline and other sites, it seems like Peacock is hoping to package itself with other streaming services (apparently they made an offer to Paramount+, who said "thanks but no thanks"). So if that's truly the case, they might be trying to drive up subscription numbers to try and drum up interest in outsiders to make a package deal. Honestly, by the sounds of it I wouldn't be as much worried about DAYS getting cancelled as much as it sounds like Peacock might be going down before the it!
  20. I think it's an issue that goes beyond Carlivati to be honest - I remember commenting on this when Sammy Jo was made a gay man on nuDynasty and how they would just make him the nice gay guy... and they did. And after a few Cristals brought in another nefarious gay nephew to play the "bad" Sammy Jo role. I guess my point is that a show that targets women tends to make gay characters that take off with the female audience and make them rather harmless and sexless; so in comes the other extreme, who they have to make sure isn't liked - or is a mere visitor - or else the same fate will befall them. Sonny and Will has long since fallen into the category of "nice gay bestie" so left is Leo as the outsider.
  21. As I said, if they had to have a threesome, it would've made more sense for it to be with Tripp since the set-up was there - you had Allie who had cheated on Tripp with Chanel, then the almost-thing with a drunk Chanel and Tripp that Paulina interrupted. They're three young, hot and conflicted people who all have feelings for each other and they try to solve it in a sexy (ugh) way. It sets up for Tripp leaving when he realises that Allie and Chanel aren't ever going to be that into him, after all (implications of what happened during the threesome!). Now I fear they'll really pull the pregnancy card and in all honesty - I don't think we need to see RSW playing an expectant father again, plus Allie already has a small kid and I'd rather Chanel actually stay child-free for now. Ugh.
  22. Because ABC was willing to pay more for it. Get money Deidre!
  23. Well, if I wanted to see adults be responsible then I wouldn't be watching a soap 😂 Personally, I would've had the threesome happen with Chanel/Tripp/Allie as a misguided attempt to sort out their feelings for each other. It doesn't work out as intended and Chanel/Allie make it out as a couple while it triggers Tripp to leave town.
