Well, AI is getting really good...- Flamingo Road
Yeah, Flamingo Road did "middling" ratings at best in its first season, the second season unfortunately pretty much bombed. Since they did consider for a brief moment of turning it into a daytime soap I could see it doing well in female demographics.- Central Park West Discussion Thread
The entire run of Central Park West is available on YT at the moment, but I guess if you only want to see Raquel's scenes...- THE COLBYS
Spelling wasn't the one to cancel The Colby's - ABC was. If they had wanted another season, it would've happened. They had already replaced Fallon / Amanda on Dynasty with cousin Leslie. It's funny because one of the suggestions (besides the Fallon-runs-a-hotel idea) was to just expand the show into two hours per week a la Peyton Place, but logistically it would've been too hard and I assume the Dynasty cast didn't want to produce 60+ episodes per season.- Falcon Crest
Just watch season 2 since it's there it finds its footing, though I'd really just recommend watching the entire series.- THE COLBYS
Wonder who the actress was?- Eric Braeden drags Eva Longoria for her comments about working in daytime
I posted it on the previous page But yeah, she even says there that she won't call it a "training ground" out of respect for something Genie Francis pointed out to her, and that was at the height of her Desperate Housewives success. Some people really want the narrative that Eva hates soaps and hates being reminded that she was on one.- Days: March 2023 Discussion Thread
I'm guessing Trevor Donovan (who played Jeremy Horton in 2007), who left Hallmark for The Great American Family channel.- YR new intro!
It looks dreadful. If they were going to do one for the 50th it should've been based on the early openings:- Eric Braeden drags Eva Longoria for her comments about working in daytime
- Eric Braeden drags Eva Longoria for her comments about working in daytime
Yeah, no, Eva actually didn't say anything bad about soaps or soap performers - all she said was that people have a bad perception of actresses as being "dumb" (unfortunately true) and revealed that she didn't want to put all eggs in one basket early on in her acting career, especially as her career headhunter earnt her more money. And I totally get it. Acting rarely pans out for people and if you do a double-hustle you don't want either party to think you're not taking it seriously.- Days: March 2023 Discussion Thread
Some people have weird hang-ups I guess - it's like when someone doesn't have Hollywood perfect pearly whites there's always a bunch of people freaking out 🤷♂️- Days: March 2023 Discussion Thread
I guess there's only so much you can do with a mechanic on a soap though, which is why people end up becoming a cop/lawyer/doctor. It would be interesting if they had pushed Shawn / Belle into a more lower middle class dynamic though as it could lead to different conflicts in their relationships, but it's been so long since DAYS (and in all honesty soaps in general) dealt with such matters.- Days: March 2023 Discussion Thread
Is this a prelude to someone else jumping on Kate's "Welcome back to Salem" bandwagon?- ARTICLE: ‘Days of our Lives’ Renewed for Two Additional Seasons at Peacock; Soap to Celebrate 60th Anniversary Season
Exactly - this, along with Aussie soap Neighbors being revived for FreeVee, is great news for the soap genre overall; clearly having something that's relatively cheap but produces a high level of regular content that keeps people coming back is viable for streamers.- ARTICLE: ‘Days of our Lives’ Renewed for Two Additional Seasons at Peacock; Soap to Celebrate 60th Anniversary Season
The show performed well for the NBC app previously and there's a reason why they had online spin-offs like Beyond Salem and Last Blast. Saying that it's only because of Peacock's weak slate is silly.- ARTICLE: ‘Days of our Lives’ Renewed for Two Additional Seasons at Peacock; Soap to Celebrate 60th Anniversary Season
I agree - it's more that I would've liked to see it scaled back to half an hour tbh - I guess having watched a lot of vintage soaps during the past few years have made me realise that it's a much better format for soaps, but I guess it's a "if it ain't broke" mentality.- ARTICLE: ‘Days of our Lives’ Renewed for Two Additional Seasons at Peacock; Soap to Celebrate 60th Anniversary Season
Interesting that they seem to be keeping the daily / ~40 minute format. I still think DAYS (and all daytime soaps really) could benefit from cutting back.- Days: March 2023 Discussion Thread
That was because they actually filmed it in an office at Burbank. I think it'll return. Even if it's dinky, there's no way they set it up to use for a brief episode. When was the last time they bothered to build a set only to use it briefly really?- Dallas Discussion Thread
I'd assume they wanted to SORAS John Ross a bit so he could do a bit more than be a baby. Tyler Banks also hasn't "acted" since Dallas, so who knows if he even could. I think most of all, Dallas just wasn't that good at writing for female characters, period.- DAYS: brand-new character (sibling of current character)
Honestly, at times it seems like they even style Elia like Saleisha and she kind of just comes off as a recast. It's a shame because I feel DAYS really needs more people that aren't related to everyone on the canvas; this sister business just makes me wonder if they're going to write Chanel off lol- ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
lol wut? I'd say FOX would be more focused on getting the 18-49 demographic to watch though. With that said - FOX would've had the issue of not having a daytime line-up and having to try and get it cleared with their stations; it certainly would've been interesting to see where they would've scheduled it. I'm also not sure it would've lasted much longer than on NBC - by early 1999 the guy who was a big champion of shows like Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210 and Party of Five left and was replaced by the guy who ushered in the reality era of FOX.- Destructive Couple Pairings on Soaps
DAYS: obviously Ben & Ciara since they had to prop him up constantly, making all other characters seem dumb along with making Ciara (a heritage character) seem completely dense.- Neighbours: Discussion Thread
Had completely missed that it's being revived on FreeVee - great news, not just for the show itself but for the soap opera genre itself. Hopefully it can show how a daily show can bring users to an app. - Days possible bts spoiler
