Yes CBS had real problems developing youth appeal 8pm shows,. Season after season they tried new shows on Tues,Wed,and Sat in particular and none of them worked.Guess viewers were used to NOT tuning in to CBS in those timeslots.

Because of delays in getting new series to air it was decided that Wk 6 of the season be regarded as the first official week as most of the proposed schedule was ready to air. The Doctors Discussion Thread
Dec 21 1976 Larry Weber debuts as Barney Dancy. I'm finding Glenn Corbett very wooden as Jason. The episode opened with Steve asleep in his office next to a photo of Carolee. She looked very grim in that shot and I wondered why anyone would have such a depressing photo of their wife as a memory. They then went into a dream sequence and David O'Brien's acting was awful.Something was off, maybe just a difficult scene for anyone to master.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Just discovered that Leon Janney's character of Major Page was head of a children's military academy. I assume this was the school little Tommy Hughes was sent to by Lisa. This was in early 1964, as Janney played the role for two months before being quickly moved over to Another World to take over the role of Jim Matthews when the original actor was dropped after a few episodes.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
By Week 20 of the 87/88 season ABC had moved into second place and with the Winter Olympics coming up on ABC, CBS faced the prospect of finishing 3rd for the season for the first time ever. Dolly was shunted off to Saturday night , pretty much signalling that it would be cancelled by the end of the season. ABC had agreed to a 2 season committment so it cost them a lot to drop it after just one season. Most mid season shows were being held to March after the Winter Olympics. Knots Landing continued to do well considering weak lead-ins and strong competition from LA Law. It ranked 22nd, and its lead in Simon and Simon was 55th. 1. 32.3/47 N Cosby Stow 27.8/41 N Different World 24.9/37 N Cheers 24.6/39 N Golden Girls 23.9/35 A ABC Sunday Movie 'Elvis and Me' Pt1 22.5/33 A Growing Pains 22.3/32 A Who's the Boss? 21.5/31 C Murder, She Wrote 21.4/32 A Moonlighting 21.3/33 C 60 Minutes 21.3/37 N Bloopers 8 Practical Jokes Sat 2 10 (pre-empting JJ Starbuck) 20.7/34 N Amen 19.3/31 N David Letterman Special Thurs 9.30 โ 11 (pre-empting Night Court & LA Law) 19.0/28 C CBS Sunday Movie 'Windmill of the Gods' Pt 1 18.6/30 C Dallas 18.4/27 N Matlock 18.0/26 N ALF 17.5/28 A Head 01 the Class 17.3/28 N227 . 17.1/27 A Perfect Strangers 16.6/24 N Family Ties 16.5/27 C Knots Landing 16.5/27 N Facts of Life 16.423 A Hooperman 16.325 C Designing Women 16./24 N Valeries Family 15.6/23 C Newhart 15.5/24 N Highway to Heaven 15.5/23 N NBC Sunday Movie 'Rambo First Blood' 15.3/26 A Thirtysomething 15.2/25 N WWF Special' Main Event Fri @ 8 (Slot filler till Highwayman premieres) 15./22 N Hunter 14.9/24 A ABC Monday Movie 'Weekend War' 14.9/24 A Dynasty 14.8/26 N Unsolved Mysteries Fri @10 (slot filler till Sonny spoon premieres) 14 7/25 C Falcon Crest 14.7/21 N My Two Dads 14.6/24 C Smothers Brothers 20th Anni Wed @10 (pre-empying Equalizer) 14.1/23 N Miami Vice 13.9/23 C Beauty and the Beast 13821 A Slap Maxwell Story 13.7/20 C Kale and Allie 13.7/23 N Crime Story 13.6/20 A Disney Sunday Movie 7-9 'RocknRoll Mom' 13.6/23 C Cagney and Lacey 13.5/22 N NBC Monday Move 'Flashdance' 13.4/22 N St. Elsewhere 12.9/20 A MacGyver 12.9/20 ABC Thursday Movie 'Firefox' 8-11 12.7/20 Kate and Allie Wed @ 9 (pre-empting Magnum PI) 12.6/20 A Mr. Belvedere 12.5/21 A Full House 12.3/19 N Year in the Life 12.2/19 C Frank's Place Wed @ 9.30 (pre-empting Magnum PI) 11.9/18 C Simon and Simon 11.8/18 C Jake and the Fatman 11.7/19 C High Mountain Rangers 11.5/19 A Dolly 11.4/20 A 2020 11.4/17 C Frank's Place (Mon ) 11.2/20 A Spenser.
