I think Y&R was the first show to use the actors faces in the opening ? On old Road of Life eps on youtube the actors on that days episode posed in picture frames but other shows just used visuals. it wasn't till the 80's that shows started using the actors in the credits. The Doctors now faces the issue of keeping up to date .Althea, Penny and Jerry will soon be gone.i wonder how often the credits will be updated?

Writer Carl Bixby took a 6 week vacation in 1959. Charles S Munroe was writer for that time. I guess Irving Vendig would write long term story and broad outlines and Bixby etc day to day episodes?

She's Peggy McKay, star of CBS-TV's 'Love of Life' sponsored by American Home Products. she's been top femme on the show for the last four years with an assured five times a week cast to coast exposure and income. However, Miss McKay served notice on the client and agency that she's washing up on the stanza after Oct 28, primarily because the demands of an across the board showcase prevented her from obtaining roles on major drama entries. Sponsor tried to convince her to stay bit it was no dice.

Doug Marland inherited 2 main stories Joan Dancy/Matt Carolee's disappearance Both have continued way beyond necessity. Matt's character has been trashed and Jada has spent months having flashbacks. He admitted later he should have wrapped them up earlier. Many months into his tenure and IMO not much has happened to reinvigorate the show.
