  2. How nice of you to post. As you might have gathered, there are a few of us who appreciate the lost history of soaps. Anything you can recall about your time would be most appreciated. Yes, all the storyline you detailed has never been mentioned in histories of the show, so anything else you can add would be most welcome.😊
  3. Without going back through synopses that sounds a possibility. There was a lot of movement with characters in that time as Bill Bell tried to adjust to the 60 min format and ratings dropped. Michael Scott was interested in Lorie, then moved to Julia before being written out. Robert Laurence was also hinted at being involved with Lorie but was shifted to Leslie. There was a Jack/Peggy/Steve/Jill thing but then Jack went onto Patty. His earlier involvement with Jill and her sexual harassment case against him laid the groundwork for their long time bitterness. After Jill/John/Jack round 1, Jill was moved onto Andy and so on...
  4. A rare photo of Judge Lowell (William Johnstone) I believe he stopped appearing in 79 without explanation. Sad when veteran performers are dishonored ...
  5. Liam Sullivan began as Alan Dunbar April 9 1971
  6. Thank you😊 I remember a news clipping of NBC trumpeting that Mel & Ethel had been signed to an exclusive contract by the network and would be working on one of their soaps. They never headwrote again, I don't think - but did work on writing staffs of other soaps over the years. I get the impression that they followed through on a lot of Marland's outlines as there weren't many radical changes in their tenure. Here's another bit of nostalgia
  7. Amy, it seems you are still able to watch on Retro. What date was Marland's last episode? March 20 1978.Fire breaks out at Andre's. Two characters are killed off.
  8. For whatever reason Marland jumped into GH and things improved immediately. Probably having Gloria Monty go to bat for him and having the 1 hour format to play with. He also learnt from TD not to continue with stories he didn't like eg Joan Dancy / Carolee stashed away. He wrapped up the Jeff/Lana split personality story quickly when he came to GH.
  9. Not sure exact date the Retro eps are up to (late Oct 77?) but Marland is out and Mel and Ethel Brez are the new headwriters. I think Marland's last story was having newlyweds Tom and MJ take on supervision of her nephew Ricky. I wonder how the switch to GH worked? Was Marland dropped by TD and then available to move to GH? Or did he get an offer from ABC and quit TD?
  10. Quite a list! Looking forward to it...
  11. Different angle of the shot on Pg 3 Julie (Rosemary Prinz) and Alexander (Brad Davis)
  12. Publicity shot for the show featuring Tony Dow
  13. One of Y&R's forgotten folk... Steve Williams. Maybe Bill Bell could have brought him back as the Steven Lassiter character and be Ashley's first husband.
  14. Cathy Craig (Dorrie Cavanaugh) with baby Megan (Kimmaree Beyrant) Vinnie (Anthony Ponzini) ans Wanda (Marilyn Chris)
  15. Just googled soap opera scripts for sale and came across ATWT and Y&R script cover pages,
  16. Second half of September 1958. 1. ATWT 8.6 CBS 2. Price is Right 8.5 NBC 3. Concentration 8.4 NBC 4. Secret Storm 8.0 CBS 5. Verdict Is Yours 7.9 CBS 6. Edge of Night 7.8 CBS 7. Search for Tomorrow 7.7 CBS 8. Guiding Light 7.6 CBS 9. Tic Tac Dough 7,6 NBC 10. Big Payoff 7.5 CBS
  17. I was always annoyed that Marland didn't bring back Dee. She had only one marriage to John and her return could have provided a lot of story. Would she want revenge on John or would they rekindle their romance? Would John be jealous of a new boyfriend and so on... Ellen would have had more to do etc Dee was just forgotten along with Frannie later on, Seth, the Ward quads etc
  18. I had a thought that the 45th anniversry episode could have been about Brock's death. All the characters that returned were involved with Brock - Lorie, Leslie, Jill, Julia, Mac etc They could have showed flashbacks and the ep would have had more meaning than just some made up event as well as celebrating Brock/Beau and potting the character to rest.
