Reading this synopsis from Dec 75 had me wondering if Jane Hayes might have been the role referred to by Carolyn Conwell as one of her earlier Y&R roles. It fits her description of a welfare mom who was involved with Greg at Legal Aid. Chris became further involved with Jane Hayes, the welfare mother who was giving her children away, by having Snapper give her a physical. He found she was anaemic and run-down and urged Chris to get her into the hospital, saying he would arrange it. With Greg's help, Chris succeeded in persuading her. Greg told Chris he originally got involved with Gwen on the rebound from her, Chris, and when she and Snapper separated, he had considered making a move, but he realized she and Snapper belonged together. Chris was grateful. On Christmas, Chris took Jane home and arranged for her children to come home. They asked to stay and Jane was hesitant until Chris explained she had found Jane a job where the kids could be with her. Chris and Snapper talked things out and as he agreed to all her terms, they reconciled.

Could Lucy Miller (Stacy Corby's friend) 1971-72 be Lucie Janet Grey ??? I wondered that also, but it seemed too many years back for Janet Grey...but could be.

Melody Thomas Scott mentions in her book that her first soap gig was GH playing a babysitter to Laura (Genie Francis version). That must have been in 76 or 77?

Re Y&R I would love to see those scenes of Jill turning up at Kay's and pretending that nothing had happened. I can see Brenda and Jeanne turning it on. Was Brock not living at the Chancellor Estate at this time? I found the early Lance/Lorie scenes intolerable. Lance was such a bore and the whole back and forth game playing was supposed to be scintillating and sexy but was too drawn out.

Re Vanessa and the veil. At one point it was stated that if Vanessa went ahead with surgery, it would involve years of skin grafts to restore her face and Vanessa wouldn't agree to it. Then later, I think KT was off for a few months and then Vanessa returned, still veiled. At some point she removed the veil and her face was back to normal and she revealed she'd had the surgery with no talk of any skin grafts and years of restoration. I wonder why Bill Bell decided to do this. Maybe the effect of Vanessa creeping around in the veil had lost its value . Perhaps Bill thought of giving Vanessa more story (a romance) and felt the veil would be a hindrance.

A disagreement between an orphaned brother and sister running their family, which includes two younger children, erupts into a serious fight--and a stabbing--that brings the older children to court. 19 year-old Maria Schiller has had most of the responsibility for keeping the family together since the death of her parents and she resents her brother's bossiness and assumed role as "head of the family." Correcting this post from 9 years ago!! Secrets debuted Sat Dec 6 @10 with an 11.8/21- the lowest debut of the season so far. The episode in the Dallas timeslot was actually Fri Dec 26 and rated #5 for the week but it was not enough. By Jan 3 the rating was 11.2/18 #62 for the week out of 66 Cancellation was announced Jan 9 to be replaced with Concrete Cowboys.
