  1. Does she still work as a flight attendant? I haven't seen any mention of it in years. Is there an age limit for that job? Kate is 75.
  2. It was mentioned somewhere SOD? Doug Davidson? that the show offered them recurring with the courtesy of appearing as contract. No way is Kate Linder on any sort of contract.Ii think her few appearances per year is so she can still collect benefits eg medical coverage etc. Although why they don't use her a bit more is a mystery. Mind you, the way the show operates is a mystery in itself.
  3. Indigo, Gloworm,Underground, Glam Club....the list goes on.
  4. The obvious story for Sharon is some revelation about her father that could lead her on a quest, maybe discover a half sibling.
  5. Interesting... And it seems that newbies are on a 1 or 2 day guarantee. I randomly checked Sean Dominic's first 13 weeks and it averaged out to 2 per week.
  6. Boy, a once a week guarantee at reduced salary is quite a comedown. Maybe Braeden has accepted that he has reduced bargaining power these days and that a once a week average is all he is physically up to so he accepted. It certainly takes the pressure off the writers to come up with stories for Victor.
  7. Thanks for posting that . That's the first I've heard of Lee having a child (and a wife). My confusion came from remembering that Jessie was involved with Lee around that time and pregnant herself. Here's what I found on Soap Central Jessie gave birth to a daughter which she named Nancy. Lee then told Jessie that he was freeing her from the engagement. But in 1966 Nancy died from a bad heart condition. So there were 2 dead babies within 2 years. that would have been fun to watch. Just shows how many storylines and plot points have been lost over the years. Depboy, do you have any other summaries from the early days?
  8. I believe Chuck was Phil and Jessie's son? It was just another tragedy poor Jessie had to deal with in her marriage to Phil.
  9. And then with SORASING, recasting and lack of care just about everyone became 'the same age' and interacted. Chloe Billy Cane Kevin Victoria Lily Phyllis Nick Nate Chance Abby Devon Mariah Chelsea Adam etc have all interacted romantically
  10. These are the ratings for May/June 94. Not sure when exactly Kristian returned but there was a big jump May 2-6 #5 5.1/18 May 9-13 # 5.2/19 May 16-20 #5.4/19 May 23-27 #4 5.7/20 May 30 -June 3 #2 6.2/22 June 6-10 #2 6.4/22 Days held onto 2nd and 3rd throughout June and July
  11. Is Glam club as empty as other GC businesses? The whole concept seems off. Is this a club people visit in the day? Is it on the Grand Phoenix site or Top of the Tower? What was the point of ditching the Grand Phoenix set for this?
  12. Thanks for those character names! Good teamwork.
  13. Died age 52 in November 1965. Injured in 1948 when a hairdryer collapsed on her head leading to a blood cot, brain surgery and temporary paralysis. Joan Vitez By Kathleen Norris 'Josselyn's Wife' Lillian Josselyn 1941 Audrey Totter Road of Life Requests Tammy Grimes Ron Leibman Robert Phelps Susan Ward David Gibbs
  14. How does stark get into Jabot in the first place? Surely there would be reception on the ground floor to vet any visitors? Oh well, people waltz into the Newman Ranch, Abbott house, penthouse apartments etc easily so why would Jabot be any different?
  15. October 1965 1. As The World Turns 13.0 2. Secret Storm 11.0 3. Password 10.8 4. Houseparty 10.8 5. Guiding Light 10.6 6. Search for Tomorrow 10.4 7. Edge of Night 10.3 8. Another World 6.4 18. General Hospital 6.3 19. The Doctors 6.1 20. Jeopardy 5.6 AW beating GH which earlier had been the clear winner b/w the 2 and even worrying CBS who instituted changes on To Tell the Truth to bolster its ratings. I wonder if losing Roy Thinnes as Phil was a factor in GH dropping a little. Of course the next rating report could be very different as ratings fluctuated more back then.
  16. October 1965 ABC makes a deal with Screen Gems for a twice a week serial 'From Here to Eternity' for the 66-67 season. Based on the movie with a cast of 10 regulars. Pilot to be filmed in Nov 65 with some filming in Hawaii. Story would be updated to present day , rather that WW2 setting of book and movie. CBS announces deal for East of Eden as a twice weekly serial for 66-67 season. Author John Steinbeck will be a consultant,Ernest Kinoy will write first few episodes.
  17. Would they be prepared to show Paul? It would be hard to do a Lauren tribute w/o him. But maybe they could just do an episode where it's Lauren's birthday . Micheal/Lauren are at Society and reminisce -flashbacks of their history. Jack and Traci stop by-cue flashbacks of her interactions with them. So they could touch on some parts of Lauren/Tracey history w/o involving Paul.
  18. As the World Turns Deniece Williams Deniece Williams August 18 and 22 1983 cameo, singer
  19. Watching that snippet of Daniel and Billy with that jaunty synth music playing in the background. Remember when the music would enhance the story?
  20. Guiding Light Barbara Smith Conrad Barbara Smith Conrad singer performed Amazing Grace at HB Lewis memorial service May 11 1997
  21. So true. It would make sense that characters who have had a few failed marriages might be reluctant to rewed. Or that a potential spouse might be a lttle wary of someone who had multiple failed marriages. The other thing soaps stopped doing is creating obstacles to stop couples marrying, making them wait years before they wed. Now they're exchanging vows within months. Y&R Ashley/ Cole Ashley/Blade Both of these relationships/stories could have happened without marriage. They had no long term impact and damaged the character.
  22. Yes, the Stitch/Abby nuptials lasted about a year and now it looks like Chance/Abby is done and dusted.
  23. Agreed. It is difficult with long running characters to avoid multiple marriages but at some point TPTB stopped caring about the long term. Hence we have marriages like Ashland/Victoria and Rey/Sharon which had little build up, short duration and no consequences apart from making the characters even more unrelatable.
  24. By June 64 GH had hit a 35 share, the best performance ABC had achieved in daytime to that point. In Jan 64 it moved from 1pm to 3pm. Up until the move ratings had been fairly low Sept-Dec 63 had an 18 share.
