I totally agree with this sentiment. HOWEVER... Let's face it: Half of the voting electorate is downright ignorant. "Stupid" is the more stark term. And those folks would blame Dems regardless. But the sheer fact is? Many that once voted for Dems swarmed to Trump. And as awful as it is, maybe they HAVE TO FEEL that hurt to be reminded of what they foolishly decided to throw away for a con man. As is said, a toddler will keep trying to touch a hot stove until they are burned. I am NOT saying I don't feel for anyone about to suffer, but in reality, Dems can posture and do all sorts of rallies and try to obstruct, but voters gave the GOP all three branches. Voters claim they wanted this. So now they must face the consequences of that train of thought. Because a minority party can do only so much - unless and until the American people wake up and join in, too.

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
Unlike some of these listings, I vividly remember this. However, thanks to my late dad being a huge M*A*S*H fan and seeing the repeats, I know him almost as well from that, especially as Kwang, the bartender in the Officers' Club! LOL! (Maybe that was inevitable, repeats or not. I was literally born the day after M*A*S*H debuted, so... 😎) As always, thanks for the shout out, @slick jones, and for this whole project [again].

ARTICLE: L.A. County Superior Court Judge Denies Motion By Fired ‘General Hospital’ Star Ingo Rademacher To Reopen Wrongful Termination Lawsuit Against ABC
Oh, well. Guess Ingo will have to seek other avenues for employment. Bye!

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Trachtenberg was also in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent involving a kidnapping happening online and appeared in that episode with the late Larry King. The YT news clip I watched said she had undergone a liver transplant! So maybe complications? Either way, 39 is way too young to die. May she rest in peace.

Didn't know Reed took a soap role. But I remember he played a corrupt judge that was into Satanism on Hunter a year or so after this. A shame he died so young.

DAYS: February 2025 Spoilers
I guess I'll be the lone voice in the wilderness: Not that I want Tate and Sophia to be parents so fast and Sophia to carry the spawn to term, as I would be just fine if she miscarried, but why do Steve and Kayla NEED to be grandparents? I mean, sure, next generation, but I...kind of like that something different is being represented. There are enough kiddies milling about. Just my take here.

ARTICLE: R.I.P. Bruce French – ‘Passions’ Actor Dies At 79
Thinking this is supposed to read 1945, given his age? Same age as my dad [who recently passed himself], if so. May Mr. French rest in peace.

ALL: General Retro Soap Discussion
I liked the 1991 revival of Dark Shadows! My grandmother was totally into the original daytime version, but it was nice to see what it was all about while re-introducing the story to the masses in prime time. If I recall, I read somewhere that - before the Gulf War and constant interruptions - that version was slowly gaining traction numbers wise. But then came that Gulf War, momentum was lost, and...that was it. And it was nice to see some former daytime stars [Michael T. Weiss, Joanna Going] and up-and-comers [young Joseph Gordon Levitt] in those iconic roles. A few years back, I came across an unsold early 2000s pilot for yet another revival of the show on YouTube - and IMO only, it made the 1991 version look Oscar worthy. Perhaps, for such a series, the law of diminishing returns applies with the constant re-imaginings...

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Macgruder and Loud, 1985. I remember as a pre-teen the huge ad push that got, and it tanked.

I loathe what Brian Frons did at ABC. But I do have ONE fond memory of him: When VP of Daytime at NBC, he made a cameo on Santa Barbara as God (yes) when Mason Capwell went to heaven in 1989 (and Joe Marinelli [who played mobster Bunny Tagliati] played Joan Crawford as his receptionist and he reunited with Mary Duvall (whose hair had grown very long in heaven!) before reuniting with Julia once he woke up. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1229694630516985

DAYS: February 2025 Spoilers
I cannot believe this Body & Soul crap is STILL going on. If there's a silver lining, at least this garbage got Ron fired. But shooting so far in advance makes it almost impossible to scrap cow dung like this. And that's a huge problem.

Well, with Dump pulling the US out of the World Health Organization, the million plus dead from COVID in his FIRST disastrous term may look like the good old days. I mean, who needs health guidance and warnings with deadly bird flu swarming! I wish every bit of fuckery coming could just be confined to the cult...

Well, NBC got its ratings revenge for the next two subsequent decades, so it all balanced out!

BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
As I said in the trailer thread: I like everyone cast in this soap. And I like that it has diversity. I'm just afraid in the current climate, with current push back against said diversity and resentment towards the wealthy (hello, Luigi Mangione!) that this is not the most opportune time for a soap surrounding both. But I sincerely hope against hope that it thrives. Daytime needs a resurgence.

Melania is just as disgusting as her felon hubby. She's no victim. I will say people should start carrying duck call thingies. Because, even on day #1, this is a lame-duck presidency. (Yes, I realize the GQP and Dump will likely try to change that, BUT three-quarters of Congress is required to appeal and Amendment. And when (because he will) he tries another 1/6, I still think there are enough American (read: not Trump) loyalists that will drive his ass out again. But it will be violent.)
