  1. The board ate my post yesterday. I was thinking about sets that I would complain about, and the first concept I would not be happy about (even if sets would come out I particular wouldn't want) would be a repeat concept. Since there has been a Carly and Jack set, I don't want a Carly or Jack set anytime soon, if a year from now that was done it would be a different story. So obviously if soapclassics would come up with a Josh and Reva set for GL after the Reva set, I'd be rather annoyed as there are a lot of other characters that could be focused on instead. Of course, that may just be me.
  2. I hope I have that SOW somewhere. I know where my SB cancelled magazine is. I didn't mind Eric Close as Sawyer.
  3. Not a carjacker myself and I didn't watch ATWT for years, but I was familiar with the majority of those episodes... I'd love to see some of Annie's other breakdowns... That said I'm a the older the better club for a lot of it. I just have a curiosity and it is fun to watch things I don't know much about. For me it was the opposite I think since I am more GL familiar than ATWT familiar, that I got more entertainment from the ATWT set. Part of it is due to having high expectations and with 20 episodes that would be nearly impossible to reach.
  4. SoapSuds I think your sig is a good giveaway. I'm just happy for a new release as I finished all of the ATWT episodes. Still not through all of the larger GL set, but that's okay. I'm not interested in every episode on every set, but that is not something I complain about to Roger. Now if nothing of my interest came out for three months or more, let the whining begin. Seriously though this is helping me cope with no more Nixon soaps.
  5. Will there be a new freebie episode on soapclassics.com?
  6. 1990-1991 was Y&R 8.1 GH 6.7 AMC 6.2 ATWT 5.9 B&B 5.7 OLTL 5.5 Days 5.2 GL 5.2 AW 3.8 SB 3.2 LOV 3.0 For a note: GL was at 6.2 for 88-89
  7. MKA only wanted to be on ATWT short term.
  8. Maeve and Robert were all for Vanessa and Josh, but they were told they were too close as in-laws so they didn't want to go there. (I know, who would have thought that.)
  9. I'd be more willing to consider it if it was Blu-ray...that said 400 on a set that would take me a long time to watch would be crazy with my already existing backlog.
  10. According to Jerry, he was the only person at the GL studio that day who acted with Charita. That's why he was asked to announce her passing as they wanted it announced on the show as quickly possible. But yes once Charita died and Denise Pence was off, Jerry was senior cast member in total years until Zas came back and then they were close in number.
  11. Some of the stories...the first one that popped into my head was Cruz's amnesia. At the time, I thought it was so romantic that even though he remembered nothing he still loved Eden. Now I'm horrified that anything happened between them...
  12. While I loved watching SB back in the 80s, some of it doesn't translate well to today. SB was great, but it isn't everyone's cuppa. It was smart though sometimes they would attempt something far out and fail miserably. Some things that were common then were uncommon later, so things that were cool seem lame in comparison. I'm coveting the old school Days and SB shirts...
  13. Oh that article which still makes me want to wretch. With Beth C on SVU that was a good episode as it was timely.
  14. Mac's death Who Shot Jake? Ryan's Death Unfortunately I have no memories of AW from before the SoapNet run as oddly enough that is around the time I started watching it in real time. I knew who Mac and Rachel were though before that point, so I bet I saw it earlier, but would have no idea what to include before 1987 except for a day from the 1986 island story. I received a VHS tape of that from a friend who for some unknown reason recorded a few episodes of that plot even though she didn't watch AW before or after that time.
  15. Ron Raines complained how the entire clothing budget for the Spaulding family went to Marj and Mary Kay and that's why he was stuck wearing a yellow sweater. There were promo shots and everything, but Marj did what was best for her and went for where the money was.
  16. I think part of it with Ross was that Pam Long didn’t take the time to establish or create a new lawyer character. Since they had money, they could pay him even if he wasn’t used as much and per Zimmer’s book JVD was able to recall and do long trial scenes efficiently. The character had to have some sort of popularity pre-Pam Long, like the SOD cover and how much airtime he had during the GL tv movie from 1983. Since they got rid of Justin and Jackie, Phillip had no family to contrast the Spauldings, and Ross filled that role. Eric, even if we omit the time on the radio, GL had a longer run on television than anything else (outside of Meet the Press and The Today Show). If there were longer running shows that were scripted they weren’t in the US. With the Nixon question, I wish I could be of help.
  17. Ross and Vanessa always had a past from the first episode Maeve was on GL. She came to his door and dropped trou, and you wouldn't do that if it was a stranger. The retcon was that Vanessa was pregnant, because originally she ended it with him to be with another guy due to business concerns of Henry. Later it came out that Vanessa was lying about the reason for ending it, as she was pregnant.
  18. I read that in the reference book as well about when the title was changed. As I haven't seen much of anything from the mid-70s there is no way to have known different. So basically until about 1981 or so at the end they were calling it TGL? That is confusing...
  19. There were more than five writing teams at GL in 1986, so it is anyone's guess what you are seeing as it was muddled for the actors. This is discussed during the MT&R (now Paley Center) panel that was done in 1987.
  20. Originally when Marj was told she would not longer be on contract she said she was done in 2005. She went away on an already planned vacation and came back. Why would Zimmer write about Parker and Simon? She barely worked with them...
  21. Michael Pavel's involvement was eventually remembered, but for a time they totally ignored it. That was part of his write off and how Jack knew that Michael was involved with the set up to destroy his writing career.
  22. I downloaded Bert's get together years ago and have the files somewhere. I won't call it a funeral as it was people in the living room of the Bauer house. Also, Charita had really died so it was supposed to honor the performer and the character, which it didn't do. The Maureen Reardon gravesite portion being shown only got a lot of people upset back then at least it seemed so in the magazines. An excerpt of the Hinsey book was in the SOD dated July 5, 2011 and she writes about the production model, with comments from unnamed sources. Very interesting as it sounds like everyone there except EXP thought the test episode sucked.
  23. There was a beginning of a Roger/Sonni relationship, but Michele left before the story was really told. I have the bridge episodes on VHS somewhere (got them from somebody who had them)... From what I saw she did a great job on the program, but the writers strike made the plot very convoluted.
